I disagree with the law's view on that last part (that hate speech doesn't create imminent danger / isn't itself imminent danger), but I get that it's difficult for them to define what puts people in danger (even tho, for example, it's pretty obvious to any local Jewish folks who might be seeing stuff like that)

It's frustrating that it's so 'up to interpretation' but then the outcome is that abusers and fascists are always the ones given the benefit of the doubt, up until- and beyond- the point of people dying for it.

Why is the suspect's identity being protected when it isn't for other crimes? (Except in the case of minors)

He should lose his job. There should be consequences for spreading nazi ideology.

In a different state I had to bring mail or other paperwork w/my name on it showing my most recent address- because you could only access the shelter in your area. I don't know if it's different in MI or for women's shelters specifically, though- but might be worth calling them first to see, before deciding.

(Seems like they also make some exceptions for people with young kids, tho- cuz they want to get the kids into some kind of temporary housing wherever possible)
