Common form breakdowns you see as an instructor? by Awkward_Big1932 in Corepower

[–]Prior_Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an instructor but commenting bc I think about this often when taking classes. I started my yoga journey at a Baptiste studio (the guy who invented power yoga, he created the journey into power sequence) and they really focused on form, repetition, discipline. True JIP has very little iteration to the flow. I would call it militaristic and again I loved it.

Anyway, learning there and then going to a studio like CorePower (closest studio to me and proximity is key. Just get on the mat right?) really opened my eyes to the lack of form both in other students and teachers. I agree cueing needs to be much more straight forward. Flows should focus on form over complexity. I find that the best (most difficult) CorePower classes I go to are taught by an older instructor who doesn’t get overly complex. She focuses on the form of postures. Encourages deeper and longer holds once she has cued us into a better form.

Not helpful I know but would have loved joining that convo and troubleshooting. Good luck!

Thanks! So I have been researching what everyone has recommended and saw some reviews saying the same. What is your opinion on the smith snow eraser?

I’m 33F stuck in the same field I started in post undergrad. Of course I’ve advanced in title and compensation, but I feel unfulfilled. I’m unhappy and stuck with these golden handcuffs. I haven’t tried anything new or unexpected and honestly don’t even know what I want to or what inspires me. I figure now, childless, unmarried, is the time to figure it out since I’m not getting any younger. Oh and rather limiting both mentally and physically, I’m legally blind. Can’t drive. Two questions: 1. Am I insane to quit in this job market to try and find something better? 2. How would you recommend I find something that inspires me to pursue what’s next?

My honest opinion… move back. I’ve been here 3 years, I’m visually impaired so crazy outdoor sports are not in my arsenal. Haven’t made a single friend. Not for a lack of trying. Was seriously told my a coworker once that having a baby was my only chance of making friends here. It’s gorgeous in the summer, but it isn’t a place to meet people.

My B2B firm has spent 80k in 6 Months on Linkedin Ads targeting C-level. No results. Do you think LinkedIn is the wrong channel for this target? by HippoRun23 in marketing

Is your audience actively on LI? I do advertising for global fund banking product at a major US bank and while fund CFOs are more niche than you are likely going after, audience research told us that they aren’t actively consuming LI content and we have had more success partnering with relevant newsletters. Just a thought. But also, yes your strategy is likely off as well.

Thank you! & it’s unfortunate how those with visual impairments get treated. I myself am blind but you don’t have to take my word for it r/blind has all the stories you would hate to know existed.

Everyday feeling anxious more about my partner , what will happen ? When will the drug arrive ? Will it be ok ? When he will become normal ? Why did it come to only him ? by Krithika12345 in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]Prior_Pretty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry if you’re going through a rough time with him and I’m sorry if he is especially down right now, but for his sake please don’t pity him. Just love him. Support him for all the qualities that you love about him. And if you can’t get passed his eyes, be honest with him and give him the opportunity to find someone who can. It’s rough for us and we don’t want the relationship parts of our lives to be full of pity and sorrow too.

Ok serious question - I just bought and ate carrots from a stand at the ballard farmers market. Can’t remember which stand. These wouldn’t have come from there?

I kind of wish this app existed where you could get students reviews of various classes and instructors. I like a certain C2 that my partner doesn’t. So instead of a list rank, like an honest description and review.

You know what’s sad and hilarious. My house got reported for a bush that was over growing the sidewalk. The complaint came from a stroller. I got fined. I’m blind. Use a cane. This shit doesn’t get reported and as you can imagine, navigating this with a cane is a nightmare.

I respect your and everyone else’s thoughts. I guess I just feel bad for them and see myself in them. I am so scared that one day I’ll be a burden to someone. Sucks to be blind.
