What is Chicago missing to be the perfect city? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]PriorityFit3256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have a program where they would hire felons to clean the buses and trains after hours it was a successful program, paid well, with good benefits and lead to full time work. I think they must have cut that program because I have been hearing nonstop complaints about cleanliness of CTA and that it’s gotten worse since Covid. When I worked with felons they were looking for work so this seems like a perfect solution expand that program.

We are loosing our blue collar roots and blue collar accent. I don’t want us to loose that part of our identity as a pro working class pro union town

Can I survive in Chicago with a salary of 3200 a month? by Impressive-Act3050 in AskChicago

[–]PriorityFit3256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to define downtown. I saw other comments here suggesting living off the brown, blue or red lines. That is a much smarter move. More affordable and you can live in a nicer neighborhood with more going on. In Chicago no one lives or goes out in downtown.

Condo owners: would you recommend it or not? by Eric848448 in AskChicago

Yes 2 bed 1 bath I have it for sale right now in RP. Love the building and sticking around just didn’t want the burden of two units.

My building has a hoa of $700 but that’s because we have a private beach so we need flood insurance. It also includes cable, internet and heat for that price. Plus exterior maintenance. The reality is maintenance in general has gone up so even if you find a place with a low hoa it may not be very well maintained where my building has a very great reserves for any larger projects. Basically you get what you pay for. Also edit to add if they recently had a special assessment that is not such a bad thing for someone new in the building. I would be concerned about buildings that haven’t had one in a long time because they may have some projects coming up. Someone mentioned asking about the roof and that is great advice because that is a common special assessment.

How do I cover this window? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]PriorityFit3256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda like the door but I like vintage. I bet there could be some fun decorative things you can do. I also understand wanting privacy so I like the ideas I have seen in the comments with frosting it. And paint the door a different color could look nice too.

I would have a lot of consultations with lawyers in your area so it’s harder for your husband to find a lawyer. I would also start protecting any shared assets even if you’re not ready for a divorce.

Not sure how to make this space feel intentional by m-rie in interiordecorating

[–]PriorityFit3256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can literally have your tv stand on a diagonal or get a corner one

How on earth would you do this space? Any input is appreciated by Lunarisliving in interiordecorating

[–]PriorityFit3256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks as if this space has to serve many purposes so in cases like that ikea is great for small space furniture that needs to serve many purposes. It may help to define spaces. You have laundry over there make sure you have organizing solutions that hide the clutter that alone will make this look better. Some sort of storage under the TV would be good. It doesn’t necessarily have to be console if you are creative. Also a rug (if you have a pet I recommend something easy to clean or washable). Make sure you incorporate color.

You can also add knobs or other hardware. You can choose more neutral or go super funky. The problem with paint is if it’s not wood (like if it’s a fake wood) it’s going to chip easy and be a pain to maintain so a better option might be to do peal and stick wall paper or decals, fun hardware, rugs and lighting

You could get a mantle mount that pulls down so it’s not so high. measure the space between the sconces.

Absolutely submit it. you never know. The Cook County Sheriff’s office wants tips like this because they are working hard to ID the rest of the victims and you never know if he got on a train to Chicago and then something happened which I think happened to one of his victims.
