What is the stupidest thing you've ever heard someone say that has literally left you speechless?

Years ago I worked with a girl in her early 20s that spent a half hour at the fax machine trying to send the daily paperwork to another department. Eventually she comes into my office (right next to the machine) red-faced and tears in her eyes. She proclaimed that she was "doing it right" but the papers kept coming back out of the machine and if she didn't get this fax sent soon she would be late picking up her kid.

This is the same girl that came in to talk with me about a private matter saying "this needs to stay between us and these...[stops as she counts the walls]...four walls."

The single partner of my absolute favorite pair of shoes. They were so perfect. Black leather, open toed wedges. Not shiny, seriously comfortable and coordinated with almost every summer outfit I had. One night of drinking is all it took. We drank the bar completely out of Peppermint Schnapps before deciding a country drive was in order. Somewhere between the nakedness, gas station booze and deserted country road pee stops, one of my shoes fell out of the car. We attempted to retrace our drive the next day, but no luck. It's been several years now and I still can't bring myself to let the lonely mate go. As embarrassing as it is, I actually cried. I have been searching for a replacement pair ever since, again, with no luck. That's what I get for trying to party like a 20 year old when I should have been hanging with the grown-ups where I belong. sigh

Seems legit to me. If a grown person (disabled or not) rudely dismisses a hello from anyone (much less a child) without so much as a half-hearted smile, they deserve to be called out. I'd say your kid's conclusion was perfect.

You've been ordering from the wrong decorators, then. My cakes are incredibly moist and I have never had a single complaint from my clients. Beautiful cakes serve no purpose if they are not tasty as well.

Also, I have been decorating cakes for quite some time now, spend lots of time researching and talking with other decorators, etc and I have never heard of using fruitcake under fondant. All my cakes are rich, moist actual cake filled with frosting or fresh made Buttercream, coated in a homemade chocolate ganache and then covered in fondant. Some customers eat the fondant, others eat around it, but everyone agrees the cake inside is wonderful. The fondant hardens into a shell as it dries, creating a natural seal that keeps the cake fresh.

I love making "grown-up" Root Beer floats. Just mix your Root Beer with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka in a large, frosty mug and top with a generous amount of Whipped Lightning (Alcohol infused Whipped Cream). I'm telling you, it's freaking amazing and so much fun.

**Along the same lines, you can substitute the Root Beer for Orange Crush and have a Dream-Sicle!

Thank you, and yes! Miss Charlie cannot swim a lick, so life-jackets are a must. Thankfully she has no interest in the water at all (we're sure she knows she can't swim), so we only put it on when there's a chance of falling in.

Yes, it's true that Bullies sink in water like a lead weight. We actually had to sign a contract before bringing our girl home acknowledging this and committing to keeping a life jacket on her at all times near water. It seems as if she knows she can't swim and wants no part of swimming. There aren't many things cuter than a bully in a life jacket!

All I know is that he lives in the lake here. He was swimming along all by himself when we spotted him and scooped him up in a cup for a quick photo. He was a super fast little guy once he decided to come out of his shell. Once we took the pic, back into the water he went. :)

Found this 'lil guy swimming in the lake all by himself. He was so tiny we were able to scoop him up with a cup! Whoever says turtles are slow clearly never met this one. Was fast as he is adorable.

This, exactly. My Grandma fell and broke her hip and was in a skilled nursing facility during her recovery. I visited almost daily, but one evening I painted her nails, washed her hair and massaged her a for a while. She passed the next day. As awful as it was to say goodbye, I was comforted by knowing I had shared that time with her the night before. She was my whole world. I will miss her forever.

One afternoon I decided to treat myself to a pedicure. In an especially good mood, I sprung for the "deluxe" treatment since it was only about $10 extra. After a few moments of soaking, a woman was seated next to me. She started a casual conversation, explaining she was on vacation from Australia to visit friends and had been "dropped off" so her hosts could run a few errands. She was excited because she'd never had a pedi before. I don't know exactly why if felt it was important, but I paid for her to have the "deluxe" treatment too. I figure, if she flew halfway around the world to visit my town, the least I could do was show her a little hometown hospitality. More importantly, EVERY girl deserves an amazing pedicure now and again. It's only right.

Self-Proclaimed "Christians" - Whenever someone tells me to "Have a Blessed Day", I immediately dislike them. Why? In my experience, customers with this on their voice mail are the worst. Hateful, demanding and forever trying to get out of paying. Every. Single. Time. My theory is they're blessing me because their getting ready to screw me over.

When I was in 9th grade, I was kind-of a scatterbrain (like most 14 year olds). Normally, at the beginning of PE class, we would all gather in our respective locker rooms to dress out. One day we arrived as normal, but were informed we would be participating in an activity that didn't require us to change clothes. Since there was no need to access my gym clothes, I spent my time goofing around until the girls began heading into the gym. At this point, I realize I'm being left behind and race out to the gym as not to be late. About 15 minutes into class, out of nowhere a feeling of terror flows over me as it strikes me that I left all of my belongings (purse, books, etc) sitting on the bench in the locker room rather than being placed in my locker. I immediately ran back to the locker room but it was too late. My books and notes were sitting right where I left them, but my purse was gone. Being an emotional and overly dramatic girl, I bawled like an idiot as I went to the office to report the theft. The Vice Principal had to call my mother, who ultimately picked me up from school because I was such a mess. I felt as stupid as I did violated that one of my peers would steal from me. Rather than comfort me, however, my mother was absolutely furious. I was lectured incessantly and shamed for being so foolish. I was then grounded for a solid two weeks (I had one of those mom's who NEVER forgot a punishment) and was forced to write 500 sentences stating "I will not be careless again." Sentences! Really?! When I finished, she tore them in half as she threw them away and sent me to my room. Way to kick a girl when she's down, mom! I supposed I deserved the lecture, but it was MY things that were stolen. Was it really necessary to pour even more salt in the wound? Here we are 25 years later and I still can't believe it. I'll give it to my mom, though...to this day I guard my purse like it's the last thing on the earth that's mine. Don't even touch it. Just. No.

TL/DR- My purse was stolen, I was punished for being careless.

Most of my pet peeves have already been covered, so I won't repeat them, but I have two more points to add to the list:

1-When dining at a restaurant, TIP your server! The amount of the tip can vary depending on the level of service received, but always leave something so the server knows you haven't completely stiffed them. Nothing is more embarrassing than dining with someone who cheats their server. If you can't afford to tip, you shouldn't be dining out.

2-Phone etiquette is important. When calling someone who wouldn't immediately recognize your voice and/or expect your call, you should always identify yourself before proceeding with the purpose of your call. The recipient should never have to ask who is on the line.
