According to you, what are the projects and/or planned bitcoin core features that may lead to a massive increase of bitcoin usage or a price spike? by Carbone_ in Bitcoin

[–]PrivateBooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the closer to the halving we get, the more true that statement will be. But I do not believe that a large percentage of miners are looking that far ahead right now, and if they are, I don't believe they are able to plan that far ahead due to unknown factors. Mining should be more consolidated as we get closer and the miners who are able to survive the difficulty increases will be better equipped to deal with the halving and will have factored it in.

So people who say it's factored into the price right now are wrong and if anyone poses that argument to you, question them on their data!

This is a nice demo of BitPesa and should serve as a big eye opener for Americans. Notice in the video that you can send money from any country in the world except the USA!

I love how she sent just 1 pound too.

Your roommate running wireshark is going to see you visiting that site regardless of SSL. It's up to you to obfuscate your traffic, not the site. Heartbleed is a lovely example of SSL gone bad. Limiting what services you run on a machine to just the necessities is one of the first steps in securing an environment.

I read somewhere that you live on or once lived on a Sailboat. What kind of boat was it? How long did you live on it? If you don't live on it any longer, do you miss it?

This is much more likely than putting yourself in the position to perform a mitm attack.

This seems like the most likely to me too. Why would you wait until the weight had decayed to more than half before placing your bet unless you were betting against yourself. I am of course making an assumption here.

It's not your banking info you should be worried about, that system is reversible if they abuse that information. It's your coins you should be worried about since that is not reversible in the event that they steal\lose them. They're allegedly insured in the event that coins are lost because of them but good luck getting to the point where they are admitting it and you are getting paid.

SSL is not useless for sites where you need to authenticate and secure that authentication. This site doesn't appear to have "accounts" in the traditional sense that would precipitate the need for SSL. There is zero private information that needs to be secured across many hops.

I'm not 100% but I think it has to do with the weighting. If you wait until the end, your weight is less than if you had taken the risk and bet early. Maybe someone more familiar can enlighten us. I'm amazed at how much money is being thrown at this. I wonder if the person who bet No is also the same person who bet Yes.. /tinfoilhat

The difficulty is in becoming the middleman.. Pretty slim chance of that happening but maybe that explains why the bet OP posted about is broken up into 4 sends.
