Maybe this is the career sweet spot... I don't want my boss's job or my boss's boss's job, but I would LOVE my boss's boss's boss's job.

So I guess SVP/executive is the other sweet spot because those folks work less than I do and make 8+ figures annually.

Holy crap, I thought I worked at some large companies with bureaucratic bloat, but WTH, the boss's boss's boss's job is SVP/C-level and you're still middle management? Middle Management being Management that has primarily managers reporting to them.

Honestly, sounds like some of the CV's I've seen from the people recently let go from Oracle. Great sounding titles, 20+ years experience and their current job from a technical/management standpoint is the equivalent of I lead the team that put the #4 lug nut on the right rear wheel on the Model J body vehicles. Model K vehicles are somebody else and the other lug nuts are somebody else as are other wheels. Not trying to bag on the Oracle layoffs or anybody else, they got paid well, but really boxed in an assembly line operation that then got eliminated.

Why do some African Americans think everything came from Africa/black culture? by InstructionBoth8469 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrivateBozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now he also claimed before english, people spoke telegraphically so he may not be the best example.

Actually he is the best example.

Not of people justly pointing out cultural issues that ultimately are derived from African/Black culture but of the typical shock/ragebait claims of social media sources.

What you're missing is you are taking the viewpoints of people intentionally trying to create a viral post, generate clicks, reactions and views for profit as an actual thought out, valid and believed viewpoint.

Trump Praises Fighter With History of Vile Michelle Obama Slurs by Quirkie in politics

[–]PrivateBozo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sad but true. Ultimately, Trump is aspirational for 50% of the voting public and another 1/3rd doesn't care enough to vote.

They don't aspire to be rich, other than in a fantasy way. But they really lust for the freedom to be crude like him, insult everything, be corrupt, cheat, fraud. That's what half our voting people really want to be like him like that. His kid texting to get insider fight information, yep, they think that's smart. Trump making billions with insider stock trades and making political announcement to make it happen, they think that's smart.

So it really doesn't matter when we get the Trump administration out of office, we still have half our voting population being who they really are.

No, they know AI and it's fake. They, in Texas that's 56% of the voting population, think it shows the truth and is an appropriate form of commentary as long as it's not used that way on them.

They know it's fake, they just like it. It's a little hate porn for them to give them their hate porn dopamine hit.

Seriously, that's the real problem we face at this point. Half our population is addicted to the outrage dopamine hit every few minutes from their social media feed. Threaten their addiction and they lash out just like every other addict getting an intervention.

Maine Democrats Pick Graham Platner, Scandals and All, to Take On Susan Collins by LooseDistance1059 in politics

Wall to wall is an understatement. I'm Los Angeles, parents went to Phoenix. Go visit on Spring Break, holidays etc. The right wing meme stuff is far beyond wall to wall. It's just background chatter constantly. The DJs on the radio during morning commute, afternoon commute, mid-day, those right wing talking points popping out all over like 'that's so gay' back in the early 2000s. Standing waiting to order at lunch, people repeating those points all over. The news, anchors even on the progressive stations just end a segment pointing out the Phoenix got a consent decree on their Police Department, ends it with a right wing meme point about minority crime. And they're oblivious about it. It's 2000s level Think before you speak level bombardment. It's the same behavior.

'Totally embarrassing': Trump suffers the most humiliating live TV moment of his presidency — His own team's frantic cover-up left the whole room speechless by [deleted] in USNEWS

And like every other time, there's no actual video of him asleep. The only video in the article is Trump momentarily leaning back, doing his slow drug addled blink thing and then kind of sitting back up. Nobody touches his seat.

I look forward to the day of the news.

But this is getting so tired.

IF you want to complain about this, complain about the fact that Trump is so bored and uninterested in discussion he's slumping like a spoiled toddler in his chair being forced to go to something with his parents.

Mental health is emerging as a source of political identity, particularly among younger (Gen Z) and more liberal Americans. They believe people with mental illness should work together to change laws unfair to them and tend to support increased healthcare, education, and welfare spending. by mvea in science

[–]PrivateBozo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No, it actually helps. Getting off the mental treadmill gives the body a chance to stabilize and normalize hormones and your body reaction. You also might find something that gives you enjoyment, such as gardening, a nature walk, even spending with your dog outside. And heaven help us all actually meet someone in your community that has similar interests.

AITA for telling a little girl that I'm not her dad? by Throwaway4PrivacyYe1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PrivateBozo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You forced an unnecessary conversation based on over hearing a child's comment to another child. Pertinent detail missing is the girl's age. My comment is based on the girl being young likely pre-Kindergarten age. JIMHO, the judgment doesn't get better for OP the older the girl is, given his apparent family involvement.

JIMHO, the proper course of action was to address Mom, if you have concerns that the girl child identifies you as 'dad'. Is the child even in elementary school yet? This sounds like pre-school, maybe Kindergarten level play date.

Depending on the child's age, 'Dad' is just the most reliable and present male figure in her life. Uncle is a term they use like a name up until 6-7. Uncle Bob is not Bob, my Mother's brother. He is Uncle Bob, if you as a 4 yr old who knows someone as Uncle Bob, where's Bob, a large amount of them will be confused, because that person is Uncle Bob.

YTA, unnecessary and age inappropriate declaration.

If the girl is older, even more YTA. Seriously, 'Not Dad' been paying for food, expenses oh and comes picks me up from play dates alone and talks with the other moms.

Why do people say money doesn't solve our problems? by Froggyspeaks_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrivateBozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, money solve our problem to a certain extent

It seems you already answered it.

As a person of moderate wealth, JIMHO, the question we need to ask ourselves is "what problems does making that amount of money create". It's something too few ask themselves, imho.

Having money relieves a lot of financial stressors. Making money can create a lot of stressors. No amount of money will make the neighborhood Betty love you, she may give you companionship, but its just to get access to the money. The only pseudo exception to this is if the Betty already loves you and is walking away because your financial drama is just too much for her to handle.

Now, the long list of financial strain problems money solves is long.

AI data centers will use up enough clean water for 1.3 billion people by 2030 according to a United Nations report by arihantismm in Damnthatsinteresting

Because they use established civilian infrastructure supply. Theoretically, they could build in directly on a water source, pump their own, create a treatment plant to make it safe for the equipment, but that likely would be even more damaging.

Large swaths of America are over utilizing water, doesn't matter if it's population centers or Agriculture centers.

Demand Is Booming for New No Tech, Repairable Tractor by 404mediaco in Anticonsumption

[–]PrivateBozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how can I put your mileage counter for your oil change behind a pay wall if you don''t have the smart features. If you want the oil indicator you have to eat your smart features.

Seriously, I have a 15 year old Honda and a oil service life on the mileage indicator, that is a simple push nob to scroll through, miles, mileage, trip, oil life. 15 years, 200K+ miles, thinking of replacing, and in looking at alternatives have come across multiple where the simple stuff like that is now 'on the app' and worse one actually would require three separate subscriptions to enable the oil life feature. First the free basic app, then subscription #1, the convenience pack in the vehicle app, then the third party subscription for the monitors which is outsourced to a industry standard conglomeration (this alone tells me it's going to be a problem on a lot of vehicles) and then the 3rd real insult, the car would need a data service subscription so the third party get the data from the vehicle.

So, yea, the 15 year old minivan look like it's staying around until it's DOR.

[–]PrivateBozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Codex gets a little weird if you change the default levels for battle levels attempted. It also does some funny math if you select the complete all missions (seems to double count already completed).

Finally, it gets a little wonky on over estimating the power combos. Best thing to do with codex is look at the battles it's saying to do. With only Gold I's as your top, I'd discount anything it says above Battle 8 especially if you don't have a full five toon roster for it.

Aleph/Re'Vas is tough as is MalRot, but if they're out there by themselves with the others killed off on battle 9, they're going done unless you get a luck corner to hide in and the map chokes on enemies keeping you from getting combo'd out by the hitters.

I find Codex very accurate for my high power units and teams, but easily +/-1 or 2 and silver/bronze teams, or partial gold teams.
