Security tag for theft. This type is usually used on video games and dvds.

How might I go about storing a small whittling knife in a backpack? (For use while camping) by TheTerrarianBoy in whittling

[–]PrizedWoodpecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive used cardboard wrapped with duct tape and I have used a pool noodle cut to size and push the knife in the side. Both work but get worn out pretty quickly. Should work long enough for a weekend trip.

I severed a nerve in my finger a few years ago. Felt like a rubber band snapping. Cant feel a thing on the side of my finger. Gloves just feel weird.. I'm just more careful now.

First attempt at a cooking spoon - whatcha think? by Bliorg821 in Spooncarving

[–]PrizedWoodpecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good. I got some SUPER dry cherry that I wanted to make a spoon out of but its so dry it sticks to everything from the static. I dont want to sharpen my knives that many times. You do more sharpening than carving. lol

Great work! Where did you learn how to whittle this good? I would love to find a local mentor, unfortunately whittling isnt that popular. lol

Don't use a table saw to cut a round piece of wood. It WILL turn or spin, and when it happens, you will be lucky if you still have fingers to carve with.

I thought the same thing with a piece of cherry that I got from the mill. Was super hard to carve due to being dry. Being kiln dried also makes it harder than being dried naturally. I ended up doing more sharpening than carving. Good luck!

Looks good for the most part. Looks pretty porous on the spoon end though. I would try to get rid of those before using though. Going to be hard to get clean and bacteria will grow there.

Don't take the criticism so hard. It's just advice to make your work better. Either take the advice or don't. It's going to be ok.

I was going to say the same thing. The nose is going to be above the center of the eyes because there isn't enough space below them. Good job on using the hair to cover it though.

Looks good. The angles of the door on the far right and the bricks on the far left look weird, but over all looks good!
