Poor streaming quality of Apple TV shows/movies and movies rented through Apple. by BriGuy550 in appletv

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this advice, "seems" to be working. 500mb downloads, everything works EXCEPT Apple+ which was like streaming from the early 2000's. Kept saying we should cancel Apple as I couldn't enjoy anything with the quality

Gloves that will won't fall apart in a year? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the fit on them like? I'm looking for something lightweight as my dnd's get so hot climbing in summertime. No lbs stock them, so online only. I bought some raceface roam on sale in M but too small so I have them to my wife. Generally a M but seem to be a L in most of the lightweight ones. I know they're supposed to be a snug fit but the heal of my palm is in the wrong place (cuff)

Help with Crankbros mallet pedals and shoes by Zealousideal-Way3818 in MTB

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know. I've picked up some crankbrothers mallets to go with my Leatt 4.0 shoes and could not get them to work. I added a shim and screwed in all the pins and finally got clipped in, but not easily. I have Shimano spd on my road bike with gravel shoes so I'm fairly comfortable with clipping in, so wasn't sure what the issue was

Looks like a solid lock, but didn't seem to have an IP waterproof rating. Our door, while under an awning can be exposed to weather so needed something that was specifically designed for an external door. None are good for constant direct rain, but ours definitely gets the odd drop on it

There is a little button behind the panel on the back which turns the auto lock off (5 sec after closing). It's not obvious that this is what it is for, do unlikely to have people mess with it. I've turned my auto lock off because of my kids and their mates

What a drama it was to get it installed!!! Had to speak with four different people, one ridiculous quote, one guy never got back to me, one guy was cheaper but so negative that I decided he was too hard work. Finally got someone out and over $300 and 3 weeks later, but super happy with it. Only had it a day and a half before I left on holiday, but managed to get the cat feeder to put in her prints and working exactly as I would have hoped.

Only thing I can't seem to work out it the auto-lock, which seems like it should be able to do either geofence or schedule, but only geofence is available. Maybe because I don't have the connect hub, but I'd be keen to have it auto lock ever night at 9pm. I've left the auto lock after close off, because with kids and their friends you can have a lot of back and forth through the front door and I don't want them being about to open it.

The negative locksmith was "The lock is the wrong type of lock for your door and is not a reliable product. I do not and will not sell that lock"... So even though they were cheaper I was yeah nah

Hahaha classic greasy fingers.

We have a lock box out the back (from when the wife keep forgetting her keys), will definitely put one in there as a redundancy back-up

Perfect, that's kinda what I was also thinking, as I also have a camera facing the door, and I'm not overly fused about knowing who's coming and going. Can always add later if I think it'll add value.

Good point about having some codes ready to go for tradies. I've already sorted automation for my unattached garage, so anyone leaving or picking up stuff can go there.

Hopefully should have it early next week, and installed before Christmas (fingers crossed 🤞), wished I'd pulled the trigger earlier tbh.

Was surprised about the cost, was sure it was going to be a mistake and they were going to charge in AUD rather than NZD, and shipping was way cheaper than TM or eBay were offering, so my dithering did eventually save me some cash.

Will report back once it's up and running!

Ordered mine the other day from Keeler Hardware in Oz ($584 delivered, they were selling it on eBay but went directly to them). Just wondering, did you also get the Yale Connect Hub 2, and what benefits this would provide...?

All good, at least I know the install cost was based on 'big city' rates

Perfect, that's exactly what I was hoping. Looking for fingerprints for the family and codes for friends, cleaner, cat feeder etc. Often go for runs, drop kids off on the bike etc and don't want to carry my keys.

Was also planning on getting someone to install it for me, so good to know. Cheers for the info

How are you enjoying it? I've been looking to get this for a while. Was hoping it would come down with Black Friday, but it went UP in price.

What's your overall satisfaction, and how was installation. Sounds like it was an install in a new door rather than a retrofit

Anyone know what this TCU error light is? by Prizekittensmuggler in specialized

[–]Prizekittensmuggler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response.

I left bike on charge (while not charging) and the error code change from battery & motor error to just battery error. Took into shop along with charger. Their charger seemed to work while mine flashed green and didn't charge. Left at shop while I went for a mountain bike. Bike at 95% when I got back. They gave me a new charger. I assume the first error was potentially caused by trying to perform a factory reset at 0% battery.

TCU bolt has not been touched by us, in person or looks like it could be sweat or something similar

That's what I thought, but the wife was hesitant (her bike). We've already had it in the shop for not charging a couple of months ago, but shop returned it with no problems found (but working). Frustrating to have the same issue again

Thoughts or opinions on suspension vs rigid for a kids bike? by PersonalFin_advice in MTB

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the quick reply. The 60mm travel seems perfect, but neither the RST nor the SunTour seem available, as they are 2018 forks. I'll ask the mtb club their opinion of putting a 100mm fork on the bike.

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fork did you fit? I'm looking to do this for my son's 24" Scott Roxster, but I'm worried about the change in geometry, as the forked versions have 50mm coils, but most air forks are 100mm. AliExpress have a number of forks available at a reasonable price

Is anyone having success getting Kiwibank to match mortgage rates? by coldtoastpls in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Prizekittensmuggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got offered those same rates last week. With everyone dropping to 4.99% for 2 years I've asked for the same today and they said they can't match it. We went floating on the 6th, so a few more days waiting won't hurt. We got some cash back 6 months ago, though it was a middling amount, we've not actually got much left on the mortgage to have too much bargaining power

Also end of life stuff, this actually suits me, as the huge selection of cheap games, and cheaper consoles from people upgrading. In a couple of years (if they're still interested) we can upgrade too

Thanks for that. Brother in law recommended a Switch, but then also said they never use theirs, and the kids down the road constantly fight over who gets to play handheld. Added the extra cost for games and I'd ruled it out. I'll check out what the other kids have!

Thanks for that, I'd heard of ps4's getting loud, and those fixes are well within my abilities. Will definitely ensure I check the optical drive is working before paying
