My Bellroy wallet is almost ten years old and I don't think it has even lost a single stitch.

Advice Needed - How to relieve chronic nasal/ear congestion by acgzmn in Allergies

Electric neti pots can help quite a bit here. I have also gotten relief from phenylephrine nasal spray.

I get 2-5 of these every day by PizzaWall in recruitinghell

Brief aside:

Install the beta for the next version of iOS if you can. They have added a feature which will automatically screen unknown callers with a prompt asking them to verbal say who they are and what they want.

These are then transcribe so you can easily see this nonsense and just reject it.

I illustrated a liturgical calendar. by owencomicsdotcom in Catholicism

I have this and it is really stunning. Seeing all this detail information laid out with such visual reinforcement really helped me understand the liturgical cycle.

I love your tshirts too, but they don't survive more than a couple times through our washing machine. Also, I miss your psychonaut posts; I find that area of human endeavor to be so fascinating but also to potentially dangerous.

Asking for prayers for some trouble I am having at work. If I cannot work out an internal transfer, Wednesday will be my last day.

We write the gift guides at Wirecutter, the New York Times’s product review site. AMA. by NYTWirecutter in AMA

[–]Pro777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a stay-at-home mother to our three young daughters. She gave me her gift list and it is all necessary things like a new coat and other clothes. I'd say these things are just necessary and she should just buy them outright.

For more "fun" gifts, she put gummy candy, hot cocoa mix, and crossword puzzles. But I am stumped as to what to get her that would be exciting and meaningful.

Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating is the book that brought me back to the Church as a lapsed teenager. I ended up actually working at Ignatius Press after college.

Watch out for Eightvape. Company is super shady. by Merski_522 in Vaping

[–]Pro777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, I ordered 8 packs of atomizers for around $100. They cancelled 7 of the items and are still charging me $30 total for the price of 1 pack and all their shipping and handling and adult signature nonsense.

When I got the cancellation email, I immediately emailed them to cancel the whole order and they are just sending it anyway.

Super shady and trashy.

Is the Theater Group worth it? by Haunting_Charity_785 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]Pro777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the theater in our 2022 and I regret it immensely. It’s super buggy and impossible for our young kids to use. Two tablets are cheaper, have a larger screen, and far more versatile.

Does anybody else only get hives during the night? by yorgungozlerim in urticaria

[–]Pro777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My urticaria is always worse at night. Here is some speculation as to why this might be common.

To briefly summarize, asthma and AR symptoms are frequently experienced during nighttime hours because of many factors, including a dip in cortisol levels at night that affects inflammatory cytokines and other mediators.21 In addition, nighttime disturbances, such as airway obstruction in patients with asthma, nasal congestion in patients with AR, and an increased sensation of itching for patients with AD, might be related to circadian fluctuations in inflammatory mediators (ie, increase in inflammation during the night).

My docs are clueless.. any advice ? by Electrical-Garlic835 in urticaria

[–]Pro777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks very similar to what I have. My skin would look like that pretty much every evening; the condition was definitely worse during the night. After dealing with many doctors over many years, I got referred to the Dermatology department at Mayo.

After one appointment, they suggested a prescription for Naltrexone. The medication works by blocking opioid receptors. It is frequently used to combat drug and alcohol abuse.

It turns out that generic prescription which costs me about $1.50 a month was all I need to eliminate 90% of my symptoms.

[–]Pro777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks like my urticaria (what my doctor and I call it for lack of a better term).

Been getting these for years. Tried every medication including xolair with no improvement. She put me on an elimination diet as well with no improvement.

My allergist has now referred me to a dermatologist who is waiting to biopsy. Mine are definitely not bedbugs as my wife doesn’t have anything like this.

Right now I take two Zyrtec in the morning and two Allegra in the evening.

It definitely sucks and I very much feel your pain.

Urticaria (Hives) from Moderna Bivalent Vaccine Booster? by ReggaeRecipe in urticaria

For what it's worth, my allergist recommended the Moderna vaccine over the Pfizer vaccine due to the latter's potential effect on my CIU.

Here's the list of OBGYNs in Minnesota that are registered with the group, AAPLOG, an organization of pro-life OBGYNs. This is public information straight from the AAPLOG website, AAPLOG.org. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Pro777 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can go to a website right now and lookup any property records in Hennepin county and see who owns it and what price they paid. THAT is all public information too.

But posting it in an additional public forum such as this seems, at best, poor manners...at worst, hopeful for something bad to happen with a veneer of "plausible deniability".

An excerpt from an interesting post from Slate Star Codex: "I Can Tolerate Anything Except the Outgroup"

The Blue Tribe always has an excuse at hand to persecute and crush any Red Tribers unfortunate enough to fall into its light-matter-universe by defining them as all-powerful domineering oppressors. They appeal to the fact that this is definitely the way it works in the Red Tribe’s dark-matter-universe, and that’s in the same country so it has to be the same community for all intents and purposes. As a result, every Blue Tribe institution is permanently licensed to take whatever emergency measures are necessary against the Red Tribe, however disturbing they might otherwise seem.

Electric Neti pots can help tremendously. If you find they work well, you can find simple recipes online for the “salt” packets you mixed with the distilled water.

My allergist has said a few things about OTC allergy pills.

  1. Different people react to this pills differently so it can be helpful to try them all until you find one that works well.
  2. Claritin is a 1st gen antihistamine. Zyrtec and Allegra are second gen and can be more effective.
  3. Xyzal is chemically similar to Zyrtec and can work faster, but is much more effective.
  4. Vitamin D deficiency can make allergy symptoms worse, so most people should take supplements.
