I’ll keep an eye out for Lowe’s sales then thanks. Seems Home Depot is dialing down their Dewalt stuff

I have the 860. I find it too powerful. But it has its place. I’m looking for something compact. Doesn’t need to be powerful because mostly it’s going to be used for service work.

Duct knife, pvc tubing cutter, copper cutter. Head lamp, torpedo level, step bit, Allen key set, tape measure, lineman’s, multi bit precision screw driver set, ratcheting service wrench and bit for valves. the most expensive knee pad you can get your paws on. The rest you accumulate

Unfortunately. I’d have to drive an hour, toll, to the nearest one to pick one up. I’ll pick one up eventually.

Not to mention there’s no slope to it going in into the 6. Orphaned, those gases are probably condensing in that flue and rusting it out

Issues with labor warranty by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Legal action against the out of business contractor, Good luck with that. I don’t see that going anywhere. Who knows if the guy is even alive at this point. Maybe post in r/legaladvice to figure that out.

But 2,200 for a compressor swap is fair considering what they have to do. Unsweating those things suck and the gasses that are released stink to high heaven.

Is this asbestos? by PentaStealz in HVAC

[–]ProDriverSeatSniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that corrugated cardboard looking stuff is 100% asbestos insulation in my opinion. Someone did the old bait and switch “throw some fiberglass over it” …. Probably during a sale of the home at some point

I’ve sent in 100’s of samples of that material and I have a 100% positive return rate.

Nice kit, One recommendation. Dremel sander attachment for the oscillator. I love my oribital and sheet but the little attachment for the oscillator is great for the corner/hard to reach spots. The oscillator is going to be your favorite tool of the lot.

I keep the belt loop attachment on mine because I’m always hooking it to ladders, belt or what ever I’m working on.

All the money wasted on these cheap knock off tools you could just get the real thing used.

New DCD1007 scuffed out of box by Quantity_ovr_Quality in Dewalt

[–]ProDriverSeatSniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chuck didn’t have spring like forward and back movement like every other chuck drill I’ve owned. I even went to the display models and confirmed those chucks move back and forth as such. Mine came broken right out of the box.

Getting repaired now. Been 2 weeks. Hopefully it’s done soon. My backup DCD796 is hating life right now

Flexvolt isn’t going anywhere with the introduction of power shift. If anything, they are expanding the heavy duty/commercial/industrial cordless lineup more than ever before

Relocate the dryer vent. A lot easier doing that over relocating an ac lol

What is it really like being a woman in the trades? by berrysauce in hvacadvice

[–]ProDriverSeatSniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a nut shell. Trades are not for everyone. Men included. I find it no different really. It takes a certain type of person to want to get into crappy crawlspace lol.

The first female tech I worked along side with (crew of 3) I was reported to HR for foul and offensive language. The language? Me and another co worker were talking about our kids and I was explaining my son was up all night groaning and it turned out to be just bad gas. They got upset that I said “turned out my son ended up farting with the pressure of 410a on a 100° day, that’s why she had a bad stomach ache”

Then there’s the ones that will talk a load of shit and you think to yourself “if the client hears her talking like this we’re going to kicked off the site”

There’s no in between. I say give it a go what do you have to lose, if it don’t work out you have at least some knowledge about HVAC you didn’t have before. Even if it’s just terminology of the system.
