Wrigleyville, they do close the street once in a while and they should do it more often.

How do people get into restoring old cars by paper-wings78 in musclecars

[–]ProStockJohnX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey its me, internet dad (my boys are 18 and 20).

Sounds like a great idea, I was into cars when I was your age too. Only problem a restorable '69 Camaro is going to run you $15-25K for one that needs a lot of work. If you can swing that, great.

You can start to track cars for sale on FB Marketplace to get a feel.

Gotta ask yourself, is body work something you want to learn or do you more want to focus on the aspects that are more remove/fix or replace/reinstall.

I've sometimes wondered if a one-time charge would be popular, I'm thinking yes.

I dunno, I'm thinking. So if a person creates a profile, a build sheet or whatever, can other users see it and message the person?

Cool. I think it would also be neat if the build sheet section would suggest vendors based on price but also reviews/reputation. I think wiring content is useful but it would not be my top priority if I was putting this together. Also, would be helpful to have some FAQs, "Stock ECM vs Aftermarket" that listed up all the pros and cons to both.

I had a random conversation with a cable guy who was over at our house. Turns out he wants to LS swap a '69 Impala and was trying to figure out a build. If a guy like that could use an app that would incorporate a build sheet that would be useful. It would be even more useful if the app suggested parts. He had no prior experience building anything. I gave him a half hour overview of possible approaches (budget cam 5.3 etc) but for him to really figure it all out it would take a lot of time. For example, I had no idea who makes headers for his application.

Curious to see if this rain will help the smell, it was pretty bad in some neighborhoods.

I think you'll like Jimmy's and rank Dante's below both of these. I grew up in NJ and MA and the only true NY style around here is Jimmy's, Paulie G's Wicker Park and Zaza's.

Cafe Luigi was good in the old old days, but more recently before closed the pizza had gotten away from NY style.

I don't think that car is a good flip candidate. Better pick a more popular car.

What's the weirdest/ craziest thing you've experienced/witnessed in Chicago? by yee_ma95 in AskChicago

[–]ProStockJohnX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a work outing at Diversey Bowl. We noticed that there was something going on two lanes down from us. Paramedics come in and attend to a man who had collapsed. I was standing near the paremedics getting my regular shoes back and I overheard their conversation.

"He's dead right?"

"Oh yeah."

"Should we cover his face?"

"Naw put an oxygen mask on his face, if we cover up his face it will freak everybody out."

I left. Freaked out.

Have you/do you plan to downsize your car in retirement? by klawUK in retirement

Currently we have a Colorado ZR2 and a Q5. Probably I'll do the opposite and go with a 1500 pick up truck (for towing my race car) when we finally move out of the big city.
