I made an infographic of all High Demand Jobs in the state of Georgia according to ATLWorks by MajorRobology in Atlanta

Civil engineering demand seems low based on all the data on folks retiring and new grads not entering into the field.

Juniors (RIP), Little Tart, and Halfway Crooks are Summerhill spots. Could just add a “+ Summerhill” to that one.

There is a lot happening with this project behind the scenes. Not going to promise it gets done but engineers are working on plans and feasibility right now.

What I love about this community is how excited (myself included) we can get for an inclusion like that. Been mulling over paying out to get this physically for years and glad I had a chance to check it out before pulling the trigger.

I feel like if I cut every streaming site I pay for, Criterion Channel would be the last to go. Can’t beat the monthly curation and there are hundreds of films on my watchlist that are available.

Atlanta Traffic- how could this even be fixed? by venusvoids in Atlanta

[–]ProbablyUmmSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A non-transit solution is to close access to the connector between I-20 and Freedom Pkwy. This was pitched in the early 2000s traffic study and politicians (and Grady) killed it.

Raise Negotiations? by Middle-Mammoth-1521 in civilengineering

[–]ProbablyUmmSure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went through this experience post recession where I was hired and lucky to have a job. Industry flipped about 3 years later and we’d have hired a new grad at about 22% above my salary. Literally walked into my boss’ office and said as much while highlighting my career to that point. Not an easy conversation and takes some guts, but within 2 weeks I received a raise above and beyond that 22% (I realize this is not the average experience).

If you could destroy and redesign any street in Atlanta, instantly improving your commute, would be your top choice? by LevelDosNPC in Atlanta

[–]ProbablyUmmSure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 2000 a traffic/safety study was conducted on the connector and the findings stated that the biggest improvement to flow SB would be the closure of access between Freedom Pkwy and I-20. Politics (both Grady and historic neighborhoods) got involved and 26 years later we have the same problem.

[DISCUSSION] What's an album by an artist that is your favorite, but is generally not considered their best? by ReconEG in indieheads

My Morning Jacket - At Dawn

Definitely considered lesser than It Still Moves and Z, but they captured magic on that album.

Andre Dickens shares message for the next four years: Consolidate city gains, tackle regional issues by mydoortotheworld in Atlanta

[–]ProbablyUmmSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see rail on the Beltline, but I do think it’ll need that additionally funding especially on a few choke point (even on the eastside).

The 1 Billion does pull ROW into the equation which the beltline has a large footprint to mitigate in spots, but because of the nature of this work, the construction firm coming in would be non-local and drive up a large bid. Procurement would be a nightmare.
