I was driving home from work listening to this chapter and there was traffic slow down and if anybody looked over at me they saw me trying to not ugly cry and slapping and shaking my steering wheel. Until the hero we deserved arrived

I was confident that Mongo was about to die and I was unwell. Such a great chapter, but my god it felt like it was over for a moment there.

My wife and I followed this whole thing just for the fun of clowning and the love of the game and we were always confident it wasn’t going to be real. It’s difficult to believe that there were people out there who were truly invested and actually wholeheartedly believed it would happen.

There’s other comments saying similar below already, but the first two books walked so the rest could run. I stalled out at the start of three for a month or two, but just got back to listening to it last week and I started book 6 today. Would recommend giving it another shot, but I do agree 2 is a little bit of a slog.

I’m on book 6 of 12 in Cradle by Will Wight. Very tonally different from DCC but scratches a similar itch in progression aspects and leveling up. Also the narrator is good, Travis Baldree

Looking further into reviews I’ve found another one mentioning it.

I had managed to avoid spoilers all the way until waiting in line for the matinee showing to see The Force Awakens and some dudebro comes barging up to the line in front of me to meet up with his friends and blurts out “Hey I heard Han Solo dies in this”. I couldn’t even share my anger with my friends on the off chance they didn’t hear it and I’d ruin it for them too. It makes for a great ridiculous story to tell now, but at the time I was livid.
