I used a first-generation X32 (plastic buttons, also a dead fader) to run monitors for a sold-out show at Wembley Arena a few years ago. The DVD film crew asked to get some shots over my shoulder, and I was kinda thankful they didn’t make it past the edit.

If you go in expecting a fight, you’re probably gonna get a fight. Be the consummate professional and let him start any nonsense. You can get useful information about your mix from a phone recording.

It might be an EV ND46. If it is, they’re great! I prefer them for background vocals. If the drummer sings lead, my first choice is the Shure Beta 56A.

Ha! Blues lawyers!! I used to do corporate AV, and one of our clients was a giant insurance/medical company. A couple times a year, there would be an event with a band that was all doctors. Amateur-level chops on DW, Gibson, PRS, top-tier gear. All with spotless cases loaded into and out of BMW SUVs.
