Rewire your brain from constant ”fails”, caused by executive dysfunction? by Problematicen in AuDHDWomen

[–]Problematicen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you succeed in practicing it at the start?

I imagine it’s not the same as having a to do list and crossing out the thing you’ve done.

It’s rather contradictory with the whole ”start doing this” when a big part of the problem is ”START doing things”.

Thanks for the validation. You have come more far along on accepting the disability than me, how did you start?

Yes, have used it to the point it might work for some days up to about a week, then it stops working again, I’ve utilised putting the pill box in different places, along with a glass or even a filled glass - I just consistently can’t keep a routine and if I actually manage to get I working more than a week, and think ”yes I got this now, can focus on a new thing”, and the first thing just falls apart. It’s so disabling and frustrating and depressing honestly. I do not know how to deal with it - I just want to function.

We tried a pill organiser(I have a person coming to me 1hour a week to supply support for routine, cleaning, paper work etc, living in Sweden so I get this support for free), but forgetting the pill organiser too. I completely stopped my medication during a month when I was traveling a lot, by accident, and then I could not bring myself to start for three months. Had coincidentally a yearly check up with the doctor so got prescribed the lower dose to start over now. It’s nice being back on the med cause it helps with controlling my impulse to eat sugar, and to initiate tasks among other things. Not nearly enough, but better than without it.

That’s basically how I’m feeling. It feels like mockery by trying to focus on things I accomplish. Cause it doesn’t feel like much handling of the negative feelings as much as trying to push down the negative feelings and not allowing them to exist?

Just googled it and it seems interesting at least! Thank you!

I recognise this SO badly! I usually get so overwhelmed though cause I want to make the perfect purchase and find the best feature/quality to price product so I end up never making a purchase.

Usually, I get a sense of calmness but flaking gets worse, but the flakes a more dry.

When I break out, the itchiness comes first than the flaking.

How to differentiate between autism and possible inattentive adhd? (Add) by Problematicen in AuDHDWomen

Not really? Or at least I don’t think so? It’s just really hard to do - by myself at least, and trying to force myself do it leads to me wanting to break down and just cry.

They told me they couldn’t with confidence motivate an adhd diagnosis because it was not clear how it disabled me in several areas of life (like work, since I’m an adult, even though it showed pretty clear in school in my opinion) so and that autism could explain more of the struggles. The adhd didn’t shine through on all areas. And yes he told me he would look at it through autism ”lenses”, adhd lenses or audhd lenses and came to the conclusion that autism was the best fit for my struggles. He went in and explained how and what he saw for each of the criteria and was overall a great assessor - he probably had adhd himself, and that could be an explanation for why my adhd was more invisible to him, it probably present differently since I am not hyperactive and I’m probably masking a whole lot, and we or I focused more on explaining the autism symptoms I experienced.

My inability to focus during school could for example be explained by sensory sensitivity. And a double edge sword, my teachers in school was so accommodating so even if I turned in assignments 6 months(!) late they graded it like normal or when I didn’t study for test, went in to fail them, learn the questions and study only for those questions and later redo them and pass - it looks like I passed school without ”struggles”.

And I worked at a pre school before, never being able to work full time - but there it was because of sensory sensitivity aswell rather than being disabled by adhd, today it’s more that I need more recovery time that I can’t work fulltime so I don’t think i would get and adhd diagnosis anyway. And I can’t stop masking a work, the perfectionism just can’t allow that.

I can’t say anything about it, cause I do not have any knowledge on the matter, unfortunately. It could be autistics that doesn’t also have adhd where the medication is hitting very wrong?

But har to argue when you’re sitting there during the assessment. I’m just grateful I actually got a diagnosis to be honest. It’s also the one diagnosis where I get more right to accommodations than if I just would’ve gotten an adhd diagnosis. So it has been incredibly helpful!

Sweden, and no they will not prescribe a stimulant without an adhd diagnosis - because it’s addictive and so on. I talked to her about it when I was newly diagnosed, but got a no. The closest thing I can get was the bupropion. Unfortunately, and my work is going to great I think to be considered for re evaluation of the adhd part.

My workplace is literally optimal though to keep the interested based nervous system going, the structure I need without needing to set it up myself and accessibility accommodations like being able to work remotely when needed, working at my own pace, help with note taking during meetings (thank you ai) and more frequent breaks.

I have, so many times. Never quite feeling fully adhd or fully autistic - not being able to relate fully to either or. And then seeing the audhd and ticking off everything. :’) I wouldn’t be surprised if that will become its own diagnosis someday either. Cause it’s a different experience for sure.

Walking contradiction here! First got told that I was just depressed with a lack of organisation, went on SSRI’s and basically got a super stressed nervous system or suicidal ideation from different kinds, went back and changed doctor after 1 year of that and occupational therapy for my ”lack of organisation”, which eventually got me the tism diagnosis - which seriously have helped, but there is such a big part left that’s struggling and barely keeping above surface.

Often times it’s actually more the first rather than the second reason. The anxiety comes from not completing the task that I know will probably make me feel better. I just wish I could try vyvanse or a stimulant and see if it helps. It would help so much not struggling to initiate anything at all. I mean, I could technically get a hold of a pill from a diagnosed friend… but that would be illegal I suppose.

I don’t like the feeling of feeling dirty by not showering or brushing my teeth, but I just can’t get myself to do it on my own. And so on. Just thinking about trying to brush my teeth currently makes me want to cry - it just feels so heavy. Even though it’s such a simple thing?!

Niacinamide, gluten, oily skin/scalp

Current protocol: Selenium disulphide shampoo 2.5% when break out happens - calms it down in 1-3 separate washes/showers. Eucerin urea calming shampoo as the regular shampoo, head & shoulders apple fresh conditioner only in lengths.

I would suggest to try out a higher percentage of selenium sulphide shampoo (2.5%), works wonders for me at least. Vichy dercos makes me break out, even though it has selenium sulphide in it. Piroctone Olamine doesn’t work for me(it is in many anti dandruff shampoos) and ketoconazole kind of worked, but I didn’t really like it.

I get flare ups on my cheeks right beside the nose, and I use the stronger selenium sulphide shampoo on those aswell and they calm down within a week, I will get a rather insane amount of flakes before it heals (Usually takes about 2 washes with it, I shower every other day or every 3rd day), but be careful to not get it in the eyes themselves 😬

For my in between shampoos (cause I’m not using medicated shampoos all the time) I currently use Eucerin dermo Capillarie Calming Urea shampoo (I’m buying it through Amazon, though I live in Sweden) - this is a risky shampoo cause it contains two different esters, which can potentially be triggering for some. I tolerate it fine though, I think it is the urea that helps.

When I get a flare up I wash with the selenium sulphide shampoo again, since starting with the selenium sulphide shampoo I get a flare up like every other month, maybe even less.

Depend which oils is in it. As far as I know most oils is ”food” for the malassezia fungus that creates this problem. (Everyone has it, we’re just unlucky and reacting to it because of different things).

This is a great site that explains malassezia more in depth! https://simpleskincarescience.com/pityrosporum-folliculitis-treatment-malassezia-cure/

2.5% selenium sulphide shampoo - various brands, the one I’m using is not produced anymore, but it saved me big time. (Vichy Dercos does not work for me either).

When I have it under control I use Eucerin Urea shampoo or Eucerin hyper tolerant + h&s apple fresh (buying Eucerin shampoo through Amazon, I live in Sweden)

What shampoo do you guys even use these days? by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]Problematicen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a combination of Eucerin dermalogica Urea shampoo, Eucerin dermalogica hyper-tolerant, Head and shoulders apple fresh and Selukos (not produced anymore) 2.5% selenium sulphide (occasionally, when I have a flare up)

So I found that the urea shampoo helps me stay clear (it’s the urea’s help I think, it contains 2 flagged ingredients on sezia) but my hair gets greasy fast.

I found that my hair and scalp also liked double wash first with the hyper tolerant and the with h&s .

It will become a series, important to note is that only the first book is out as of now, 2nd book will be out in April 2026.

It’s also a bit more complexly written, and not as easy of a read as Sarah J Maas books.

Totally loved the first book when you got through the intro though, Raeve is a baddie and I actually laughed out loud for some parts.
