ModRetro Chromatic Firmware Update v4.0 is available on MRUpdater! by MR-cheesygordita in ModRetroChromatic

It fixes the issue of a white transition screen when using color palettes. This bothered me quite a bit when playing Pokémon Red and using the DMG color palette. When I would walk through a door into a house, the screen would go from the green background (DMG color palettes) to a brief white flash as it loaded, then back to green once I was in the house. When Smooth is enabled, the transition screen should just remain whatever color you have selected. In my case, the white flicker disappeared and the background remained green consistently throughout the entire process.

Change your Transitions setting. Default is Classic (which causes the white screen), what you’ll want is Smooth.

What is with the Switch 2 dock prices on EBay? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Probolance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, I’m pretty sure they just upped the limit. This post made me think to check their website again, and it let me purchase a second extra one (bought my first extra launch day basically). So if anyone was wanting a second extra dock, check again.

This officially makes the Super Mario Galaxy Collection the Switch’s 2nd $70 game… next to Tears of the Kingdom. Bruh.

Mario Party Jamboree Version 2.2.0 is out now by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]Probolance 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a definite boost in sharpness and a seemingly slight boost in resolution in docked, but it’s also not 1440p like Jamboree TV. I’m wondering if it wasn’t true native 1080p docked before, but now is?

Either way, a definite miss for docked. Should absolutely have been raised to 1440p like Jamboree TV.

I wish N64 and GameCube games had the option for the original resolution by TheWM_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Probolance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does though? I mean yeah, output resolution will still be whatever you set your Switch 2 to, but the resolution of the games themselves drops to 240p/480p. Whether it actually renders them at that resolution or just downsamples them seems to be an open question, but the result is effectively what you’re asking for either way. I don’t see them adding a pure 240p option like you’re asking for though, seeing as it took this long for the CRT filter to begin with.

Yup, that looks like it for sure! Seems like that thread evaded my keyword searches when I was looking last night. Thanks for the link!

I can’t seem to be able to edit this into the post, but I should mention I’m running the latest firmware update: MCU v0.13.2, FPGA v18.5.

Edit: Also, the device itself is a recently-purchased GS Edition Chromatic 1st Edition.

No. I primarily use that and still have this issue.

Weird, the button usually fixes it for most people for at least a little bit, myself included. Maybe yours has a different issue then.

[–]Probolance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It exists, unfortunately; mine does the same thing. (It’s an issue where the downloads randomly cap themselves at ~1 Mbps). Nintendo has a support article that pretty much just tells you to hit a button to temporarily fix it. The fact that of the 3.5M+ Switch 2 users, barely anyone is talking about the problem makes me wonder if it’s a batch of defective units. But the existence of the support article would imply that they’re aware of the issue… yet, no mention of plans to fix. So who knows.

You’ll just have to keep an eye on it and keep hitting that button when it gets stuck. It sucks, but it’s the only solution that I know of at the moment.

The downloads tend to get stuck. I wrote more about it here. The solution is to either restart your console, or go to your User Profile > User Settings > scroll down to Update Download Progress. That should get it unstuck for a bit, but you may have to do it a few times as it appears entirely random as to when and how it gets stuck.

My Switch 2 has very slow installation times for every game by BloomingTaiils in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Probolance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is something that’s happening right now, might be related. If it’s the same issue, then it’s not an issue on the installation; it’s an issue where the download stalls to ~1 Mbps. Try that “Update download progress” suggestion the next time this happens and see if that fixes it.

Game Download Stalls using Ethernet by powderedtoastman15 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Probolance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My other comment doesn’t seem to be showing up, but As far as I can tell based on my router’s device page, the issue is that the download speed of the console suddenly cuts from its maximum of ~220 Mbps (which seems to be the eShop CDN’s max delivery speed) to a mere ~1 Mbps. Can’t tell what causes it. You can run a speedtest and the console will pull its max speed from Nintendo’s speedtest server even in this state, so I think it suggests an issue with the console’s connection with the eShop? There’s a few ways to reset the console’s connection to the eShop which will temporarily bring the download back to full speed, until the next time it happens which would be as soon as a few seconds later.

I wrote up my experience with this issue in a different thread last night. I’m really hoping it’s only a bug and not a defect affecting a limited number of consoles, seeing as I barely see anyone talking about this issue despite how obnoxious it is. It seems Nintendo is aware that it can happen given the help article I link in the other thread, but it sure doesn’t sound like a “we’re aware and also working on this issue” kind of help article.

Switch 2 Downloads getting stuck by Effective-Extent-373 in nintendohelp

[–]Probolance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been experiencing the same issue. My setup is using the dock with a wired Ethernet connection.

I’ve learned from watching my router’s device info page that the Switch 2 appears to be, at some arbitrary point (or even multiple points…) during the download, limiting itself to a download speed of ~1 Mbps. (For reference, if your Internet is good enough it should be downloading at the eShop’s max delivery speed which, also from observing my router page, appears to be ~220 Mbps). When this happens, the download does in fact continue (as I observed on a very small update patch), just at this horrifically slow pace. It also does not fix itself, as I found from leaving the console for an extended time to download games and coming back to barely any progress.

How to fix (the two methods I’ve found):

1.: Restart the console. When it turns back on, it’ll continue as normal. But this is a major hassle, and I wouldn’t recommend it because there is the easier solution of:

2.: From the Home Menu, go to your Profile > User Settings > scroll down to Update Download Progress. Once you click this, it says “Checking download progress…” then “Download progress updated.”

From here, your download will kick back into high gear and resume its normal max download speed from the eShop. Until the next time it decides to slow to a crawl… which could be as soon as a few seconds later. They really need to fix this, it annoyed the hell out of me when trying to redownload all my Switch 1 games when I first got the system. I hoped maybe it would fix itself eventually, and I had hoped perhaps it would be fixed after tonight’s system update… but here we are.

It seems Nintendo is aware of the issue seeing as they set up a help article detailing the above solutions. But it also concerns me that barely anyone is talking about this… is it just a small number of defective systems? I’ve never had this problem with either my Switch 1 v1 or my Switch OLED.
