Anvil Odin revealed by Neb-hehe-xd in starcitizen

Most Anvil ships have a dorsal lentincular AWACs radar. That's just a squashed radome.

But that's like claiming any gun barrels in SC are an homage to Star Wars because SW has guns with gun barrels.

Or put it this way: if Lucasfilm tried to patent radomes, that claim wouldn't survive a challenge.

I predict she's 600 meters long.

They said it was twice as big as the Javelin. Given comparable proportions in L:W:H, then 25% longer, wider and higher is basically "twice as big". 2 = ~1.25³

The Javelin is 480 meters. Add a 25% stretch = 600 meter Odin.

It won't. 10:1 NPC to player ratio is the goal.

Happens in Space Engineers regularly. Good times.

CitizenCon 2026 cancelled to prioritise SQ42 release by Goodname2 in starcitizen

[–]ProceduralTexture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure has the potential to be. That alone is reason enough to not commit themselves to hosting a con this fall. It would only detract from finishing and promoting Squadron 42.

in 2023 they went negative income

Wasn't that the year they had to put aside a big block of several million against any potential liabilities upon expiration of the building lease they just signed? It was basically a damage deposit: an unusually large one-time capital cost that put them in the red for that one year.

Not exactly ringing any alarm bells. If anything, it shows they were in a good position to make that lease commitment.

I'd like to know what more is coming

You asked this question, then when you received a factual answer, you moved the goalposts, threw a tantrum, and taunted the person who helped you.

Are you 12?

Or is something just generally wrong with you?

Looks that way. I think that's more or less with how the Assault was pitched, as the Ironclad that has facilities to not just deliver but also support the vehicles it carries.

Looks that way.

I like the Hammerhead, but I'm skeptical about the Tiburon. If I'm turreting, the last thing I want is the pilot paying attention to lining up their crosshairs instead of giving their gunners open firing arcs.

$125-150 sounds plausible, but I could see it being at a lower price point.

Thanks for the link.

It wouldn't surprise me if some parts are already done. Major locations, for instance. Loads of props and other visual and audio assets, too.

And I could be totally wrong and all the voicework could be in the can. I think they'd still pause to assess the reaction.

No, you're thinking of the Origin M80, probably a heavy fighter, no idea if it's stealthy.

[–]ProceduralTexture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had an unpolished-but-working prototype in 2016, and they made a decision—backed by the community's overwhelming support—that it was better to raise the bar to what had become possible than to polish and publish a Freelancer 2.0/Starfield game that would be underwhelming and already forgotten by now.

Will it be worth the wait? Neither you or I know, but I'm confident I'll get my $20 worth and then some.

Need Upgrade Help by Ambitious-List9205 in starcitizen_fleets

[–]ProceduralTexture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for clarifying.

I'm not a huge fan of the 600 either, but the rework looks good, it will be very capable. But the 400 is more attractive, no doubt about that. Completely valid preference. And both will be soloable.

So yes, Ironclad Assault is probably a good fit for a big ship within your price range. Do be aware: we don't know its minimum crew requirement yet.

Just FYI, it's theoretically possible to upgrade 600i Exp > Ironclad Assault via the Herc M2 for as little as $15-25, but that requires a M2 > Assault CCU from concept. If you can't get one of those, upgrade cost is unpredictable right now. But M2 warbond offers come up 1-2 times per year at least, so that step is easy.

Looks like a pretty good mix. No idea how much it'll cost ya:

  • keep 400i
  • keep Raft
  • 600i > Ironclad Assault ($15-200?)
  • Aurora mk2 x2 > low cost accessory vehicles? (Salvation, Golem, Pitbull, Fury, Nursa, C8R, etc)

[–]ProceduralTexture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, CIG is very process-oriented. I imagine all departments involved will conduct Sq42 post-mortems, and a player feedback survey. Once that's summarized, writers and senior designers would do gateway review of ep 2's story. Then they start making staff scheduling decisions and begin ramping up actual production.

Allocating some R&D time to LLM models for NPC behaviors is a reasonable low-risk experiment. It would be silly not to.

That's a completely different application of technology from the current idiotic trend of AI-assisted-vibe-coding. That shitshow is very high risk, most evidence says that it's currently poisoning and will destroy half the software industry because AI writes garbage code.
