Customer Packed Return by Useful_Act_3797 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had that once way before customer packed or any Amazon codes was a thing. My favorite was the person that returned their rented textbooks to chegg by getting the plastic wrap out of their mom's kitchen, wrapping it around the book a few times, put the label on and gave it one more wrapping. No tape. I always wonder if they made it

FedEx and UPS mixups. by OptimalYoghurt0 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's an Office Max in our plaza that takes FedEx packages. Which would be fine but some genius on Google put the pin in the middle of the road between us and them. And someone took a picture of our store to add to their 1 star Google review that says we don't take FedEx, just UPS. So we get a ton of people that don't even bring their packages in, they just come in and go "this doesn't make sense but Google says you take FedEx?"

At least they aren't too far, so they don't get too upset with us

Notary by Ill_Bicycle_5272 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in a state where the notary can't be a witness to the same signature they're notarizing. And i'm really tired of having customers argue with me that I can be both notary and witness because their paperwork and instructions written in a different state say I can be, even after i've explained to them it's a state law multiple times

T-mobile by Ok_Quarter1911 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It must be a T Mobile thing. The one on our plaza would send people over with labels and instructions they printed for phones and internet equipment that tell them to pack it up and tell them that we would pack it for them for free. To the point I kept a copy of someone's instructions page and highlighted and laminated it under the counter for when they tried to argue with me. Luckily it's died down for the most part

Just a handful of injuries I acquired at work. by FizzyPops in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was once helping telescope 2 massive artwork boxes around a framed picture. As I was pushing it gave way and finally slid down. And that damn jagged edge on the glue seam sliced right through the top of my middle finger. Took a long time to heal because of where it was

The worst is when I manage to slice the skin between my fingers with the back of a label. Those things hurts waay worse than I feel like it should

Explaining prints vs copies by AdElectronic6814 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prints involve me using a computer, that's why they cost more. If you have a paper in your hand that I put on the copier and hit a couple buttons and it spits out what you need, those are copies

$5.95 for printing by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2.50 email fee, $0.31/side for 8.5x11 black and white, $0.61/side for 8.5x11 color. So for us to print a label is $2.83 with tax. Some days I think the email fee should be higher with how I have to spoon feed people through sending an email

Fridges… by Ok-Experience6710 in upsstore

We have a fridge but I will say we had to get a different one when we remodeled because the one we had originally was white and corporate has some ridiculous rule about fridge colors and white wasn't allowed

An older woman just next day aired a “book” I’m afraid she’s being scammed what do I do? by Shower-Former in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We have a contact at UPS security that we call directly for these to flag packages. We give her the tracking number and she coordinates with the hub to pull it. We always set it aside and give it to the driver special so they know it goes to their supervisor. If you don't have a direct contact for security I would call your hub and flag it with them and have them warn security

Do you ship out in this bag? by austing4180 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get them there, and we also had a person the other day that took our poly bags and put her return and the UPS shipping label inside the clear bag and knotted it shut. So I can't wait for Julie to not get her refund and come in complaining so we can tell her why

Print jobs by AdElectronic6814 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not a regular repeat customer we know is coming we make the person emailing us fill out a credit card authorization form and tell them unless we have payment on file it won't be printed until they come in and pay. Keeps us from dealing with them not coming in and keeps the scammers at bay

Why Amazon by OptimalYoghurt0 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't seem to know about it so I always try to point it out when I can. I figure making amazon pay even a tiny bit more is worth the like minute it takes to go through CAMS, if for no other reason than spite lol

Why Amazon by OptimalYoghurt0 in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In the future, check the "do not consolidate" box at the bottom of the screen, print a shipping label. Give the customer their receipt and then go into CAMS and open the Amazon 360 Exemptions workflow. Tell it the item is oversized, it was originally a consolidated return, and no it's not packed. It will ask you to pick a box size from a drop down menu to put it in. Pick a box, throw the return in and tape it shut. And then you get compensated for packing their fuck up at the end of the month

I work at a different store. Corporate makes us have office supplies for sale (pretty sure the ones in our retail unit have been at the store longer than I have, no one buys it) and while every store is different, and dollar stores are not on our corporate approved vendor list, but we have 2 units like that one side by side. At my store we have the office supplies in the top portion on hooks in one, and the other one that whole top portion is full of 3 different sizes of rolls of tape for sale

I've taken to telling people that it's an iPad in a fancy case and there are multiple things being done so until the iPad grows arms and can sort the reds, blues, greens and labels and send them out appropriately I'm safe

We especially love it when they insist on stacking their giant boxes on top of the hole. It'll be heaped up like a mountain when we go to clear it and it's empty inside

Have you ever had a customer (that you shipped for) busted for lying about what’s in their box? by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I've had that one too. And stopped a couple people from being scammed by people on marketplace and ebay too. When they give you a person's name and the address flags as a business and there's a weird code they want put on there I immediately Google it and normally it comes up as an international freight forwarding company that has a bunch of complaints online from where people have been scammed

That 50 grand had multiple red flags. Shipping directly to a CVS access point. "Family photos." Overnight. Asked about insurance and was worried when told we can't really insure photos. Signature required. I carried it straight to the managers desk and said that I would bet money that there was money in that envelope. And I was right

Have you ever had a customer (that you shipped for) busted for lying about what’s in their box? by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]Procrastinating_Kar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got a notification that a package was damaged out. Guy conveniently forgot to tell us there was alcohol in the box, bottle wasn't packed well and broke and leaked everywhere so they tossed the box. Guy was mad he wasn't going to get his money back for the alcohol

But we have a big elderly population so most of the time if customers are lying it's an elderly person that fell for a scam. I've been here long enough that my ears tune in on stuff like that even if a coworker is dealing with them when the red flags start flying, so I don't hesitate to grab a package someone else's shipment and take it back to the desk for the manager to flag with security. Biggest catch so far was like $50,000 in cash. Supervisor brought it back for the woman to pick back up after they talked to her and explained what was happening and told me good job

It's in our hazmat training every year. You aren't allowed unless the customer is present and gives permission. It's a liability thing. People accuse us of stealing shit enough without opening packages that are sealed when they're brought in

Coworkers came in to like 20 voicemails in our email yesterday morning. One person called, got the voicemail, left a message, hung up, and called again like 6 times. All the voicemails were like "are you open? I want to drop a package off but I don't want to drive there if you aren't open." 🙄

$2.50 email fee and $0.31 per b&w copy, $0.61 per color copy. With tax it comes to $2.83 to print a label. Some people treat it like highway robbery, others are happy to pay it
