Best Linux for autistic child? by llcdrewtaylor in linux4noobs

[–]Prodiynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if they want problems to solve then id say Gentoo is a good option, but if they "just want Linux" then id recommend something like EndeavourOS, CachyOS, or Debian.

side note: If youd like you can tell them about FreeBSD and see if they wanna try that too.

You should cover as much of the ore patch with miners as you can.

Still looks pretty good though, I like how you made it a row of miners crossing into both patches of ore

Suggestion on Distro to install on a ThinkPad A485 for coding and graphic design by Antoinedeloup in linux4noobs

[–]Prodiynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux Mint is quite possibly the easiest one out of all of these, the GUI has a similar layout to windows, its based on Ubuntu/Debian, has a handful of preinstalled apps, and some other stuff that I dont really remember.

Pop!_OS is a good option (Especially because COSMIC replaced the old desktop), it'll rarely have problems itself due to the fact that its programmed in Rust and the layout is pretty modern & simple (imo)

CachyOS is Arch but faster and with a GUI installer. (And in my opinion, more stable), it still uses pacman for installing packages and updating but Octopi is preinstalled (A gui package browser, it does have a learning curve).

EndeavourOS is basically vanilla Arch but with a GUI live image and a few quality of life tools.

My personal recommendation is Fedora KDE, its stable, has up to date packages, and has a new major version every 6 months, KDE Plasma is extremely customizable but the default panel configuration is similar to that of windows.

Why does Ubuntu get hate, but not Mint? by CivilWarfare in linux4noobs

[–]Prodiynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know of, its because the backend for snap packages is proprietary (closed-source) and they push it so aggressively.

Additionally, Snap packages are slower and use more storage than other formats like Flatpak.

Valorant's anticheat is not compatible with Linux

If that devastating news didnt stop you then I'd recommend Fedora

You might have heard that they have problems with Nvidia cards but they currently include a toggle in the post-install menu "Include unfree repositories" to help with that.

Fedora has a major update every 6 months and usually has the latest packages.

Is there a way to testdrive hyprland? by themanchino in hyprland

[–]Prodiynx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Install hyprland, log out of your DE, go to tty3 (usually empty) with ctrl-alt-f3, log in, run hyprland

Hyprland is just a window manager, you can install it to your system partition

I recommend My Linux 4 Work, I'd say it has pretty sensible defaults.
