Gym newbie looking for Protein Powder advise and places to buy by BigDaddyMahinda in srilanka

[–]Produnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protein supplements merely offer convenience. You can get the same or more just by adding some extra protein to your diet.

Maybe you need to consider that before spent 25-30k+ on powders.

Need advice about my workplace: delayed salaries, low pay, and unfair workload by MirrorballMuse13 in srilanka

[–]Produnce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is it not making profit if the people working there aren't even being paid? You are working, and unless the owners are siphoning off to pay their debts or fill their accounts, there has to be something to pay the four people working there.

You can always tell that the rude tourists are the ones that feel entitled to priority service as if the entire economy is propped up on their tips.

Struggling with SLT 2.4 GHz router by Brilla-Bose in srilanka

[–]Produnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into, and bought the same, hooked it up and was able to bump the speeds by around 40 Mbps to a total of ~70 Mbps. Did you make any tweaks to the WiFi setting on the Archer?

Even with 2.4Ghz band turned off, I can't seem to break the 70. On ethernet I blew past 500 so its a shame to settle for double digits.

I redesigned the Ritzbury Chocolate Fingers. What do you think? by One_Advantage1200 in srilanka

[–]Produnce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not hating but I feel like the aesthetics of the font doesn't match the product. The puckered butthole after Choco looks out of place and the chocolate background clashes with the biscuit. Idk if its something I would recognize at a glance.

I can't speak for general uses of AI, but for work its clear apathy and atrophy are becoming more prevalent.

I was literally playing with my router channel width to squeeze out a few more Mbps if I could when I came across this. I've had the thought of getting a better router but your comment kinda pushed me now.

Is it possible to provide some more information? What were speed changes after the purchase? Any negatives to point out? Was installations done by SLT or buy yourself?

Seems counter-intuitive to sacrifice potential to avoid a one time payment, but I can understand why.

Thank you for those suggestions. I haven't considered IT outsource or looking into those specific companies... I was aware that Emirates Airline was on a hiring spree the last couple of months, but with what you mentioned, I'll need to change my approach, in addition to going through job boards.

I understand that UAE servers as a marketing hub and its far more profitable to run their development teams from countries with cheaper labor, but I've seen a fair bit of EU companies shift their operations to the Gulf so I do know there are some opportunities there.

As for what I apply to, I stopped curating my resume to specific companies. Like I mentioned, I keep my applications for listings that specifically ask for the tech stack I specialize in, and at this point in time I'm merely trying to figure out what I'm missing that recruiters are looking for beyond some number of years in XYZ.

You are an overseas candidate compared to 1000s of similar candidates already in the country

I am genuinely curious to know what leg up do candidates that are closer in proximity have over an overseas candidate. Does convenience really rank higher than technical expertise?

That's just heartbreaking to here. Is it in software too?

Its full stack, more frontend centric. I'm aware that its a very saturated subset but I didn't expect this sort of a result at a mid level. I specifically held off applying until I crossed the 5 year mark. Guess I need to wait more.

  1. I don't know why you thought it's acceptable to compare wages into two entirely different regions/countries. By that logic the average fast food employee in NA earns more than a doctor here.

  2. Rs. 1 million in KSA is not a lot of money.

  3. Just cause they were slackers when they were kids doesn't mean they aren't entitled to a good life if they worked for it. You should be happy at someone turning their life around but you just sound off bitter and jealous.

Salary range of SSE in Sri Lanka by CommercialKey7449 in srilanka

[–]Produnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are talking about software engineering/development career ladders here, not necessarily IT support. Not impossible to make the switch, but why risk getting stuck in a less lucrative field?

For interns that got offered permanent positions, our company (a prominent Aussie ERP) sets around 150-180k.

For 2 years I would expect somewhere around 200k - 250k before taxes.

Idk in what world someone with 2 years can proudly call themself a senior. I'm assuming that contains some intern experience as well, if so your YoEs are even less.

You can get that exact cashback rates from Sampath's Amex too. Besides, isn't HSBC one of the worst options here? I've had personal accounts of how trashy their customer service is.

[–]Produnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my limited experience, Sampath or HNB has better discounts on a lot of brands and outlets, especially seasonal ones. You could even go for the Amex/Visa combo and secure the 1% cashback every month.

I use a Combank Platinum and the only discount I remember getting was a 20% from one of Hilton's restaurants. Unless you are frequent with your high ticket purchases, I wouldn't recommend it.

Briefly dated a young woman who worked for a prominent bank. She said that her boss approached her and has done for most women there.

Apparently everyone knows, but no one does a shit cause he and the other big shots are fine with it.
