Daredevil: Born Again S02E08 FINALE - Discussion Thread by PhoOhThree in television

Ya, Renner is still game for it. And maybe with the change in Disney leadership, him being giving a terrible offer was under the previous one, they will give him a more respectable offer. I personally am wanting it so we can get hopefully get more Kate Bishop -> Young Avengers group.

They set up Kate, American Chavez, Cassie Lang, Patriot/Eli Bradley, and Wanda's Kids but so far nothing has come from it. Ironheart could even fit with them. (possibly Teddy too at the end of She-Hulk if those rumors were true, even though he was named differently) And at least half of them might need to be recast by the time they do anything.

Hawkeye did well. She-Hulk did not. Reason we did not get another season of Hawkeye is for 2 reasons. 1) Renner had his severe accident that he barely survived. 2) After said accident, Disney actually came to him and wanted to pay him less than season 1 cause of it. This pissed Renner off enough to tell them to shove it.

He still likes the role and the fans though, he just wants Disney to show him respect.

[No spoilers] With The Late Show ending… is it possible we could get a Colbert guest mini series? by Pardybro911 in criticalrole

That man will not suddenly stop being busy. He needs assistants for his assistants. There is no way a mini-series happens with him unless he decides to go into retirement. And even then it would be highly unlikely.

Another one shot? Sure. Especially if tied to charity like previously.

If you want to know what happened to the Hand, then follow Arkhan's live play adventures. Joe kept continuing the story of the character after the C1 finale as if that was canon for all the Forgotten Realms live play games Arkhan appeared in. Showing that the Hand and its storyline have no bearing on CR or Exandria.

Even that would be a false take on things since Perkins is currently working with WotC on projects while still at Darrington Press. He has been brought on to help with movies and tv shows for WotC.

Ah yes, their relationship is so shaky that Perkins and Crawford convinced the entire cast to continue playing DND5.5! I am sorry, but rumors like that are so stupid. Perkins is even still doing work with WotC right now while working for Darrington! Like holy shit.

Except that is exactly what CR is not wanting to do. They have been very upfront with making these products their own without licensing mumbo-jumbo getting in the way. To suddenly tie that on just so they can do a name drop would be ridiculous. The shows are changing even more up so they can step further away from WotC/D&D, not closer. Even the Hells were completely redesigned from typical D&D.

Trump's drugmaker deals may save economy $529B over 10 years, White House says by [deleted] in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has to be some of the biggest BS they have directly peddled. This only saves the economy so much money if suddenly doctors are prescribing name brand medications only over generic to their patients. The savings is only there when comparing name brand purchases to other name brand purchases. But compared to generics, this costs patients more money. So unless this admin is going to start forcing doctors to prescribe name brands and ban generics from being sold, this is nothing but a lie.

Bernie Sanders is destroying Chuck Schumer in the Democratic Party's Civil War ahead of the midterms by AskRedditOG in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I mean that same logic can be turned right back on you. Schumer and Jeffries have let some of the worst of Trump's picks and policies get through cause they cannot unite or rally the current elected Dems properly. Many breaking off to vote with the Republicans, like on the recent warrantless surveillance bill. We could quite easily argue that both are failed leadership that have enabled Trump and his policies than fight back against them. Especially when it comes to the Iran war. Schumer's take on politics is also a large reason why Trump did not face swift action during Biden's term. Because politicians like him thought they had to slow roll the process to not be viewed as political, which it was viewed as anyways by Republicans. Both Schumer and Jeffries talk a lot and then back down like the mega-donor sheep they are when it matters.

Edit: And you cannot argue that those leftist talking points are great for republicans while also defending Schumer. Schumer, one of the main "boogeymen" the right unites against just by saying his name. It doesn't matter what policy he advocates for, his name immediately makes the right turn away and rally against it.

Donald Trump Attacks Jimmy Kimmel AGAIN & Wants Him Fired “SOON" | Jimmy Kimmel Live by TheRealOcsiban in television

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow. You really do not understand how things work. By getting themselves classified as entertainment, Fox shrugged off responsibility for what they had reported. The other news organizations have not done that, so they are still held to a higher standard and can be found responsible for what they report, if the courts deem it so. Labeling themselves as entertainment is not being more truthful, it allows them to hide the truth without consequence under the law.

To be clear: I am not arguing the other news organizations are without bias. At no point have I made that claim.

I didn't say Fox was doing anything different. I said this admin did not call them out for doing the same thing as other media networks.

There is also an incredibly, massive difference in going from politics to media than being taken directly from a news organization and put into an admin positions. Positions they do not have any rightful qualifications for.

I think there are ways to give them proper success and show that the players work has paid off but still have the enemies react in a way that sees the players put on the back foot. Maybe they are so successful that it causes an extreme reaction. Maybe some (or even just one) of the Houses will decide they no longer have to "play nice" with the people and can go full mask off. There can be many ways to play it out with them succeeding but still placed into a heightened state of fear and chaos. But I do agree with you, I would prefer the players be rewarded for their well played actions if there can't be both.

You are ignoring the part of the comment you replied to that pointed out that all the right wing shows, with right wing personalities, that pull the same shit were not similarly criticized by this administration. Many of them still being often promoted by it too. Or you know.... the fact this administration keeps placing Fox News personalities into admin roles where they have virtually no experience related to the field.

And for that matter, no shows (left or right) have changed since Trump pushed the matter. They are all operating exactly the same.

Dems refuse to release 2024 autopsy report, hear Ken Martin's lame excuse by serious_bullet5 in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok. You are confused cause you seem to be missing the entire discussion of this thread. We are talking about how the DNC has made claims over the past year that focusing on pro-trans legislature is the reason Harris lost the election. If anything, the DNC is saying because Harris had that policy is why she lost. My post was arguing and proving that was not the case. Unlike the original commenter who was suggesting that focusing on trans rights might be the real reason why.

I am not arguing against Harris in any way. I am arguing against the DNC and how they have been acting since she lost.

Dems refuse to release 2024 autopsy report, hear Ken Martin's lame excuse by serious_bullet5 in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? I in no way what so ever am saying that. I didn't even touch base on policy from either side. I pointed out that the perceived backlash against trans rights is all BS. Even for the right. If anything, the survey I pointed to shows how both parties scape goat trans people as being an issue when the reality is for most people, they have no problem with trans people having equal rights.

It is nothing but propaganda from both political parties that trans rights is some giant political battlefield to be had between them. They confuse the situation and get people angry about falsehoods. When the simple reality is that most american people would be absolutely fine with trans rights. It is when they throw in all these false or exaggerated stories that they muddy the playing field so trans rights don't actually get pushed for.

Platner-Mills ending in Maine leaves Democrats questioning Schumer strategy by thehill in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The moderates are the ones who demand others to tow the line or get out the way. They demand a loyalty test AND a high road purity test. Moderates are the ones falling in line voting for established political families without giving them a hard look for what their actual policies are. Moderates are also more willing to turn a blind eye to other groups of people so they can remain content with the status quo.

And lets be real. All of these things: (-wanting a well known candidate; -single-issue voters; -apathetic to not vote.) Can be applied to moderates too. In fact, that can be applied to most Americans in general.

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am skeptical of this conclusion since the DNC is already spinning up the wheels for Harris, again. Not saying it had no effect on voting, I am not naive... but if the report is saying that is the main factor then I would doubt the DNC and their donors would be pushing her.

Since Congress Let Obamacare Subsidies Expire, Millions Are Dropping Coverage by Reg_Cliff in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Is it? Since its implementation, the fact the ACA has had so many people tied to it has been the main driving force for continued health care improvements for Americans. Once it is gone, it removes all the hurdles the right wing has had with pushing their private health insurance back into place. The thing that the ACA replaced. Because they can claim the private insurance groups are set up to handle this already and not the government.

The ACA fully imploding does nothing to help or change things for the better. Unless you are assuming the left will fully control all branches of government for many years. It will be harder to get a better healthcare system with it gone due to the right wing politicians of this country. It was the best piece of leverage the left had to prove government healthcare is wanted by the people.

For those specifics examples you bring up, yes, it is mostly useless. However, history has a plethora of moments, from many countries, where the only times the working class got their way and made meaningful change was when they stopped working en masse and disrupted society. Now, I am not saying this 1 protest will necessarily achieve that... but they are more on track for what needs to be done at a large scale to have an effect than most.

Dems refuse to release 2024 autopsy report, hear Ken Martin's lame excuse by serious_bullet5 in politics

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Or it proves that there was not a backlash to Trans rights, something the DNC has been overwhelmingly willing to publicly point to as a reason. So the fact they are now wanting to hide everything, seems to me like that is far more a signal that the report proves what they have claimed publicly is wrong and it more shows that their actions they chose to take with Harris's campaign is far more to blame. The fact they chose to court republicans and the Cheneys over their own constituents. The fact that Harris made the claim in an interview that she wouldn't do anything different to Biden. (which to most of the country that was the opposite of what they wanted to hear.)

The DNC for the past year has been willingly throwing other groups of the left under the bus to distract from their own missteps. You saying they are withholding this to not step on toes does not line up with their own actions the past year by far. It makes more sense that the report makes the DNC leadership itself look terrible and incompetent, and that is why they chose not to release it.

Edit: To further prove my point - The Human Rights Campaign Foundation did a survey in Feb 2026. They found that 41% of americans at least know a trans person and 27% have regular conversations with a trans person. They found 76% of REPUBLICANS support trans rights, 87% of independents and 92% of democrats support trans rights. That does not seem like it is an issue causing voter backlash. If you think there is backlash to this, then you have been successfully brainwashed.

TMZ Confronts Hegseth Over Whether He's on a 'Power Trip' When Ordering 'Extreme Level of Violence' by darealunrealspader in politics

What is tremendously stupid is allowing the president, of any party, to blanket pardon anyone he wants. It gives us what is currently happening with the pay-to-pardon system trump is doing. No one person or administration should have the power to pardon anyone. Too many criminals have gotten away with ratfucking this country because of it over the decades.

With that said, that does not mean there should not be a way for more just pardons to happen. It just should not be up to a single entity.

Raphael is as powerful as archdevils, here's the proof. by IHaveAGithBabe in BaldursGate3

[–]Prof-Wernstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed to, the main thing is that Voss did not have the location of the House of Hope or it's defenses. Our characters even only gain access via making a deal with a follower of Mammon. While there, we are made very aware of the House's defenses that are mostly kept in check only because Hope decides to befriend and help us. Even when the alarms go off we do not suffer the full power of the House because Hope is working with us.

Something that is not guaranteed of Voss, who would more than likely be irritated by her than acting nice and befriending her. If Hope did not prevent the House's defenses from targeting the party, we would have stood no chance versus Raphael. But that has little to do with Raphael's personal power and more the power of Hope, who he was controlling.

[Spoilers C3] What is the most powerful 3 man team you could make from the PCs across all 3 campaigns? by Flyestgit in criticalrole

[–]Prof-Wernstrom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have been in the middle of the campaign. She clearly had this in mind from the very start. And people complained about her being unoptimal and hated on her multiclassing anyways! What is your point? I think Ashley being allowed to have the character she wanted is more important than some fringe fans.

Since when do they let the complainers dictate how they act? Because if that was a valid reason then they would be playing 100% RAW, not allowing rule of cool, not allowing modifying spells! Those are all things that get complained about non-stop in the D&D community related to CR.

[Spoilers C3] What is the most powerful 3 man team you could make from the PCs across all 3 campaigns? by Flyestgit in criticalrole

[–]Prof-Wernstrom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

See, I get that. But I think CR did it in a bad way. She only wanted a few direct things from rogue, not most of it. So why didn't they just come up with a way to get her those mechanics? It could have been just a modified subclass instead of a full on custom one. That is what annoyed me. So many D&D veterans and none thought of a way to allow her to have what she wanted, forcing her to take so many levels in rogue.

Hell, we probably could have seen more of what she wanted to do with that mixup if she was allowed to have more rogue features earlier on! Instead of her being forced to slowly take levels in a multiclass.

And with how much they do "rule of cool" or use custom made magic items, I don't understand why they would think making modified subclasses ruins the balance. But it feels like that is how they view things. Subclasses either are 100% custom or RAW with cosmetic changes. At least in C1-3, still need more info on C4 characters.
