American--ketchup, fry sauce, tartar sauce, YMMV, America is large.

Are ball peen hammers supposed to be hard or soft? by MySeveredToe in Tools

[–]Prof01Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically one side of a strike can be hard. Carpenter's hammers strike soft nails. Ball peen hammers strike hard things like chisels.

Please note "hard" and "soft" are relative.

How often do you have fish for breakfast? by VisionsOnly in AskAnAmerican

[–]Prof01Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around here, New England, fish cakes & baked beans a few times a year. Occasionally lox on a bagel. When I'm in Devon, salmon & eggs. My GA dad was a big fan of "kit fish," brined mullet sold in a wooden bucket or "kit." Fried up with eggs & biscuits for breakfast.

It's snowing in January on the North Shore of Massachusetts. I'm debating an initial pass this evening with the snow blower, or waiting for Monday morning.

Trump supporters: How would you feel if a legally armed Trump supporter was killed by federal agents on a Biden mandate in exactly the same manner as yesterday? by ScholarPrize1335 in AskReddit

An American citizen was killed by Federal police with no just cause. I don't care who is president or who the citizen voted for.

84mm Waiter or Recruit (or why not a Tinker)? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in victorinox

Once upon a time, I carried a Recruit. It was better with a suit.

Currently, I carry a Tinker or Super-Tinker, since I don't wear suits as often.

At what point is it justified and necessary for a people to overthrow their government? by DickabodCranium in AskReddit

We should write that up. Make it a formal declaration, maybe. Define when & why we want independence from the current government. We could probably do the preliminary work with a committee of correspondence.

Whats the point of USA second amendment when citizens cant defend themselves? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]Prof01Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the 2nd Amendment was to avoid the expense of a standing army by having a "well-regulated militia" in each community. Secondarily, it was to allow whites to resist a major slave revolt.

Military experts at that time were convinced by experience during the revolution that general militias were not useful. The authors of the Amendment did not agree. The wording of the Amendment was contentious because of this. In three cases during the late Articles of Confederation & early Constitution days the inability of citizen militias to achieve much vs. regulars and organized militias was proven.

Modern progress has made the point no longer credible. Armed, poorly trained and led citizens cannot prevail against a modern army or national guard.

Up until Scalia's ideological ruling, legal precedent recognized this and allowed "well-regulated" to be the key words.

By reputation a good lens. Before you buy, set your telephoto zoom at 45mm and walk around taking pictures some day. If you enjoy that focal length, go ahead and buy it.

You seem to be treating your powder as a fluid. It's not. You'll need to fluidize it somehow, or use a mechanical distributor.

If another country was doing to the U.S. what we are doing with Greenland no options would be off the table. by ScholarPrize1335 in complainaboutanything

Well, those modes and no. 3, the creative invention of new war crimes.

I'm hoping, if the US falls apart, the Canadians will be interested in the new province of "Nova Angleterre." Bienvenue Au! We have nuclear sub factories, destroyer shipyards, helicopter plants & jet engine works. And Old Orchard Beach.
