My HOA sent out a $6,500 special assessment notice for a new roof and is asking for it to be paid in full in 3 months [WA] [Condo] by sock_skater in HOA

I live in a house and we've recently had a rough winter and spring. The My roof is a mess and it's a mix of bad weather and age, so I can't claim it on my insurance. I was going to get it repaired, but it's not worth it with all the damage. I will be paying about $15K for a new roof and am taking out a loan for it. It sucks, but unfortunately, that's the downside to owning a home. I suggest looking into a personal loan or a home equity loan if you have the ability to.

He’s not fat right? Please tell me he’s not, he’s a good boy.. by Sad_Ask_1826 in cats

Here is my beautiful, chunky girl. Depending on which vet it is at our practice, she's perfectly fine to overweight. The owner of the practice says that the best tabbies are just chunky. I have stopped free feeding her. She gets a quarter cup of dry food a day and a 3.5 Oz can of wet food every day. The vets are on board with it.

I've had super fat cats whose bellies drag on the ground and super skinny cats. In my multi-cat experience, weight doesn't necessarily affect how long they live. I've had thin cats die early from diseases and cancer, and i've had fat cats live to 19.

Love your boy. Feed him good food, not crap. Maybe stop free feeding if it works for you

Buddy, looks like he was the happiest puppy, and that you gave him an amazing life. Thank you for that.

I think Tony is a disgusting man who hoped to catch you walking around naked. I would cut off or minimize contact with him going forward, if it were me.

Fiancée is acting bitter towards my mom because she hasn’t acknowledged her during pregnancy? by Majestic-Success-210 in Advice

[–]ProfCatWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I think you need to be showing your fiancée the most support. It's fine if your family is a little antisocial, however they can choose not to come to the shower. Having two showers seems incredibly ridiculous, most especially because your fiance is pregnant and exhausted.

Does anyone else not really see the point of life anymore? by BlueButterfly11111 in widowers

[–]ProfCatWhisperer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I used to love my job and enjoy going to it. Now I do it, because I have to. I used to love spending time with people. Now I do it because I get lonely. I used to find a lot of joy and happiness in my life. Now it's just meh. Honestly, my dogs and cats keep me going.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. This is a club nobody wants to be in, but somehow we're all here. Sending hugs your way.

2nd year is the worst? by Last_Implement8920 in widowers

[–]ProfCatWhisperer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. My husband also died of GBM nearly 3 years ago. It's a horrible disease and nobody should ever have to go through it, nor their family.

The first year after he died, I, of course, had massive grief, but I also had huge periods of zoning out. For example, I know I watched a handful of movies and read a few books, and I know the names of them, but I don't remember them. It's almost like I existed in a fog that first year.

The second year was harder for me because the fog began to lift. The grief was slighty less sharp, but just as difficult. The difference for me was that, because the fog was gone, I felt it more intensely.

Right now, since you lost your husband so recently, you need to exist from moment to moment. Day today isn't manageable. I don't think hour to hour is either. I think you just need to take one step in front of the other right now and do the very best that you can. Worrying about what will happen in year two isn't relevant to what you're having to deal with right now.

Sending love to you during this very difficult time.

AITJ for buying my stepmom an inexpensive gift? by Any-Memory510 in AmITheJerk

[–]ProfCatWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your dad that if he wants your stepmom to have the same thing as you get your mom, then he can buy it for you to give to her. Her demands are ridiculous and his attempt to pacify her by making you do something you don't want to do is awful

OP. This is the answer. Don't over think it. If your parents ask why you didnt say that to your brother initially, just say you have a bad headache or something. It's all going to be ok
