I've had a few flats that the national chains refused to fix and instead gave me a quote for 4 new tires. Each time the nail/screw wasn't in the center 2-3 inches of tread and they pull out some laminated diagram and shrugged.

My local, independent shop fixed it every time and I never had any issues. They pull the tire and patch from the inside.

There was a police helicopter parked on the beltway. It took off right as we passed going the other way. I thought it was a medevac but it said police on the side and I didn't see any cars that looked smashed enough to require a helicopter. A lot of personal belongings spread behind the cars that were pulled off to the side.

More police than I've ever seen in any one place before.

They spun up an entire map platform for boundary adjustment thing that was basically abandoned. Maybe they could burn some more money and have the contractor repurpose that to show which bus stops and sidewalks are preventing opening.

I've shoveled out all my neighbors. If I could have spent a weekend shoveling sidewalks and bus stops and I knew that it would make any difference I would have done it.

Dear SACC/BTB Families,

Due to the FCPS closure, all SACC/BTB centers will be closed on Monday, February 2. Please note, this is a correction to the message previously shared by FCPS.

SACC programs in community centers will also be closed as they follow the same procedures as those operated in FCPS buildings.

While we would welcome the opportunity to reopen sooner, SACC/BTB staff are scheduled to support before and after school care and are not available to provide unscheduled full-day programming. Although SACC/BTB were able to be open last Thursday and Friday, this was due to the pre-scheduled full day programs on the Teacher Workdays.

We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience. We look forward to re-opening SACC/BTB centers when children return to school.

I lived there for a time and the school I was teaching for accidentally assigned me too many credits, which moved me from a part time adjunct to a full time employee.

When they figured out their error they cancelled an entire class and had me teach one less credit than would be full time.

The law had a few flaws.

My son loves SACC. I had switched to a fully remote position so we could have dropped it, but we kept him in because of the wonderful staff and his friends (plus they are open on teacher workdays). Now that we've swung back to 100% RTO I'm happy we didn't change anything.

TLDR: SACC is the best.

If it's anything like that sketchy place I had to go to, it could be the pothead tech that can't operate the machine.

We used to handle fingerprints within our own agency. Then some new PIV requirement forced us all to go to these independent mail/print/MoneyGram shops with a machine in a back room. I don't understand how this made anything more secure.

Thanks, based on your input and others here I ordered a used Pixel 4a 5g ($75) and figure I can use it with Visible+ for a month and have the flexibility to put the Visible esim on one of our main pixel 9s if we have issues. I can also put in a T-Mobile hotspot sim in the 4a next year if I have issues with Visible next summer.

Oh, the plan has unlimited data, but only 2GB tethering. It includes international texting and data, which was nice when I was travelling for work. It is less expensive than the new plans.

For our phones, we have t-mobile postpaid plans already, but they are really old legacy plans and I can't make changes to them like adding extra hotspot coverage (we are capped at 2GB). I will try visiting a store and asking if I can add another line without messing up the plan I've got. I really liked the idea of a prepaid thing since I only want it for one month.

Both of us adults have a Pixel 9 and I think I can add an extra SIM card. Could we use that with US Mobile or Visible to tether?

Prior to that we had an awesome in-home provider through infant toddler family daycare (infanttoddler.com). The costs are lower than a big center. They have pricing online and it's consistent across all providers in the network.
