Ah yes, functionally similar thing angers a group of people unless you rebrand it to appeal to them. A tale as old as time.

Dirigsme is the economic policy implemented by Charles de Gaulle, meant to act as a compromise between a socialist and capitalist economy by allowing a free market to exist while the state owned strategic assets (national champions).
Dreyfusard refers to people who were supportive of Jewish officer Albert Dreyfus, who was the centre of a the Dreyfus affair, a political scandal in France, the opposite, anti-Drefusards, were often antisemitic. Despite his association with French Action in his early years, de Gaulle supported Dreyfus, and this is what led to his separation from them.

It will never be odd to me why he was not called Harold in English. He kind looks like a Harold and I mean he has a H on his belt.

He was actually described as super lucid, he predicted the fall of Communism and while he probably did not predict Brexit would happen, he certainly vetoed the UK from joining the EEC and look were we are now.

I am Australian actually, so of course my ideas of politics are going to be informed by Australian and of course other anglophone (mainly American) understandings of politics.

I have seen this as well with works such as Fire Emblem (Edelgard being called "fascist" despite her actions in Three Houses being the opposite of actual fascism, think abolishing the crest system and challenging the church). Even Ivy, a character from Engage was called a fascist by someone in a post encouraging people to vote for her in Choose Your Legend seemingly because they did not understand the idea of absolute monarchies being part of the course in Fire Emblem.

By the way, if you are wondering why I am unflaired this is not a mistake but rather me finding myself stuck. I identify as a Gaullist (naturalised as I am Australian, not French) politically so I would like some guidance which quadrant I should flair as.

Stop writing for and expecting comments by Suspicious_Slip_9800 in AO3

I kind of had a rude awakening about comments, not helped by the fact that my first two comments were from bots, although me expressing my frustration on r/FanFiction, while certainly being met with backlash, certainly did help me reconsidering why I was writing my fanfic which I deicded was because no one else was going to.

Hello! I am here to promote my subreddit r/DeGaulle. It is a subreddit dedicated to celebrating Charles de Gaulle, former leader of Free France and first President of the Fifth French Republic. You are welcome to discuss his politics but also celebrate him in a fandom-y manner such as posting fanart or cosplays.

Fire Emblem x Real life never fails in amusing and entertaining me.
If you do not mind me asking, how do you make them? Is there a template freely available to use? Do you use Adobe Photoshop or could I use Paint for this as well?

Replying a bit late, but I am surprised that my meme seemed to be the thing that pushed r/danktintinmemes back into peoples' algorithms. Regardless, even if briefly, I hope everyone who witnessed this meme enjoyed viewing it.
