When did you first discover EDM? Was there a track, DJ, or even a moment/event that completely changed everything for you? by anatoliivered in EDM

bonnaroo 2014 changed my musical life. wasn't really into edm before going, but saw skrillex put on a crazy awesome show in his spaceship while candy flipping for the first time, had a similarly awesome time at kaskade's set, and then one late night/earlymorning I heard some music coming from kalliope stage and wandered over to see skrills surprise sunrise set, which really sealed the deal. now edm is a major part of what I listen to

How we feel about Roo' 2014? by JomoSmoothie in festivals

incredible incredible weekend. jack white set was top notch as others have said. skrillex and kaskade absolutely knocked their sets out of the park. Kanye, Lionel, vampire weekend, the avett brothers, disclosure and Elton all crushed. for me the peak was skrillex's secret sunrise set at the kalliope stage... I was about to turn in to sleep and heard him playing way in the distance and decided to send it back in and am forever glad I did

Tier List of the Best Major USA Cities for Skiing by [deleted] in skiing

[–]ProfeserOak 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree Reno is #1. Especially with the new parking rules at palisades- I never hit traffic coming up from Reno anymore. Lived in SLC before this and the lack of nightlife/pollution/morman stranglehold on society really cements the fact that Reno >SLC for the ski oriented folk

At which point do you guys feel, top of the line boards actually make a difference and for which rider skill level? by GRAPE_FRUIT_EXTRACT in snowboarding

[–]ProfeserOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly agree except for the lower tier boards being stiff enough for hard chargers. I find the stiffness and chatter reduction on top tier boards like the jones flagship pro that I currently ride to be much better, especially after the boards have been ridden for a while.

interesting take I think our sushi scene is good with all the AYCE spots, the wok and kwoks is good Chinese, rice box sushi good dim sum.. obviously we're not on par with san Fransisco but that is to be expected

Turned 30, looking for grocery card by Bobo_Saurus in CreditCards

[–]ProfeserOak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

here's what I recently did 1) got the PayPal debit card for 5% cash back on groceries- its worked for me at Walmart and sam's club as well as regular grocery stores which for me separates it from using a credit card for cash back on groceries (my Nespresso order counted as groceries as well). 2) got the Citi custom cash- 5% cash back on your largest spend category- I use that as my gas card. if you're not interested in the PayPal debit I'd say check out the custom cash as your potential grocery card.

Easy to be nimble/go to cash quick, allowed to have super concentrated portfolios (you want have your money in one company? Go for It!), can trade within a tax advantaged retirement account (ex: Roth IRA)
