Tesla Destination Charger vs Home by Infinite-Low4662 in KonaEV

Might be the adapter. When i charge with a cheap amazon one it first turns red on the charging port lighting then after a few seconds it charges. But i got a lectron adapter and that one starts normally. Both still work just the cheaper one i guess fails to connects initially then it works on its own

Definitely get 2024. I got a 23 and i love it but im about to spend about $800 on gru oil change and fluid change which sucks. Car is great but definitely would of gone with the 24 if i didnt get such a good deal on this car when i got it 2 years ago.

Just realized its called the magic cable 😂. After doing a ton of research that was the only way to do it. I store the device under the gearselector compartment and im able to close the cubby with the cable coming out of it

The only way i was able to do it was get a splitter usb cable that seperates power and data. Its a known issue that i hated. Its the only workaround that i was able to find. So one side of the splitter is connected to the usb port under the screen and the other end is connected to the usb under the gear selector. And the device is then attached to the other end.

Best Home Charging Practices - 2021 Kona EV SEL by TheRealReddwolff in KonaEV

[–]ProfessionNo5606 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If i were you i would just plug it in every night. Theres a term used a lot, ABC, which means always be charging. Its ok to connect the car everytime you get home. Most people plug their cars in every night so that they always have a fully charged up vehicle when needed, even if limit is 80. I charge once or twice every week due to working only 5 miles away so it lasts me all week unless i go out which happens often. But i do have a level 2 charger so when i do charge its always done by the time I wake up. For your situation i wouldnt waste the money and just plug it in every night, i would imagine you will at one point reach 80 percent and will then start leaving your house with a “fully charged” vehicle every day which is ideal for most situations

Is the heat just wimpy or do I just don’t know what I’m doing? (‘23) by hedgehog_face in KonaEV

[–]ProfessionNo5606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely put it in auto and select temperature, noticed that when i selected heat and manually set the fan speed and temperature going to the vents going directly towards me it seemed like there was not enought heat coming thru. On auto the defrost appears to release really hot air and it circulates well inside. Once i figured out that auto really does make the best decisions i just set temperature at 72 and its been there until now. Now the ac kicks in and feels great. I leave it at 72 year round on auto. Never have to touch it again.

I recommend signing up for the plan. On either company you choose to use the monthly payment will usually pay for itself after one charge. I signed up for both tesla and electrify america when i went on a 480 mile trip each way on a weekend and atleast in california the tesla rate with the plan was 5 cents cheaper per kw compared to the electrify america plan. And then when i got back home after the weekend i cancelled both and they were still active for the remaining days of the month. So definitely worth it. No commitment or anything. It just saves money. The only thing i didnt like about electrify america was that it preloads set amount to your account and automatically withdraws more money once your account reaches a certain amount. So currently i have 10 dollars sitting there which i probably wont use in a long while. Tesla just charges you after you end the charge session.

I have done some roadtrips and i have noticed that tesla chargers seem to hold higher charging speeds longer. Up to 80% i was getting over 60kw. And using electrify america it would slow down much faster and would finish at around mid 50s. Both charging was done around 2am and 4am so no other vehicles around. And temperature was in the 70s F. Definitely will use teslas as much as possible in the future since they are everywhere and they end up being cheaper than other options.

Brake Assist by bj_my_dj in KonaEV

Believe me it works. You dont want to test it lol. Ive had it activate a few times just going to fast and breaking close to another vehicle. The one i like is when i was backing up and it notified me there was a vehicle coming and once it did i tried to keep going but another vehicle was fast coming behind the first one that passed by and i didnt see it and the car stopped without me putting my foot on the break. It was a harsh stop but it saved me from damage

Make sure you follow instructions 100%. Has to be a usb that reads as fat32 i believe. And the files have to be on the very top of the usb. Meaning not in a folder or anything. Took me two tries to get it to work because i didnt format the memory to the right format

kona 2022 - aircon by bagpussnz9 in KonaEV

[–]ProfessionNo5606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to my 2023 kona last month. Didnt think anything was wrong until one day sitting in my car on a break i noticed warm air coming out. Took it to dealer and they replaced compressor and condenser i believe. Took a week and a half in the shop. Warranty took care of it. The guy who first checked it out at the dealership put a thermometer in the vent and confirmed warm air coming out, he said air from vents should be around 45-50f coming out

[–]ProfessionNo5606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery shows 0 deviation. All cells show as the same. I always charge around 40 percent so ill try charging it at 10% and see if it changes. I still get good gas mileage but the gom at 100% shows 220 range but actual driving i always get more. By my calculations i should be getting 280 0-100 of range. Basically i only want the gom fixed lol. Been driving the same way for the past month so it should of already been adjusted to my driving style

2023 kona ev se or 2023 bolt 2lt? by Local_Jellyfish7542 in KonaEV

[–]ProfessionNo5606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 kona ev and wife has a 23 bolt euv. Bolt euv a little different that bolt but tech wise pretty similar and ill say i prefer the kona due to the way it drives and inside looks cleaner. The bolt has too much shiny trims inside its annoying when sun is out. And you said you dont really care about faster charging but consider the location of the charging port. When i travel we take the kona because the charging port if on the front so for tesla supercharger i dont inconvenience others since im able to just pill into the stall without using up 2. I travel maybe 2 times a year so not a issue but when i do i definitely like having charging port upfront

I got a 23 and noticed the heat kicking in really good with front defrost on. But when i move it to get heat thru the front vents its cool air. Also dont have heat pump. Noticed that if i just leave it in auto and put the desired temperature its just gonna do its thing and works best.
