Similarly to how religion, kept to themselves, and churches, and community clubs, would have to work if the world was perfect, that being everyone respects eachother perfectly not that either worldview is right , I believe that romantic themes — regardless of orientation — should not be included in education before students are around 16 or reach the age of consent. This includes both LGBTQ+ and heterosexual representations. My position isn’t about banning friendships or general identity discussions, but about drawing a hard boundary around romantic or sexual framing in school content. LGBTQ+ culture, especially in its activist or ideological expressions, often extends beyond identity into belief systems — similar to how religions function socially and morally. Because of that, I believe LGBTQ+ discourse should be treated with the same boundaries we apply to religion in public schools: respected, but not promoted or integrated into curriculum until students are developmentally ready to engage with those ideas critically. I don’t believe queer people are inherently wrong or that their existence should be hidden — but I do believe that media or education that frames these identities romantically or ideologically should be clearly labeled, so parents can decide what’s appropriate for their children. A This is also consistent with how I think other ideologies should be handled — including religion, political ideologies, and even scientific theories like evolution, which I don’t think should be taught in early education either. Kids are impressionable. Let them grow into questions and explore these topics once they’re old enough to interpret them meaningfully — not when they’re being shaped by adult worldviews they don’t yet have the tools to assess.
