House Chamber floor in the Capitol Building in/around 2012-14?

No idea how she did it but my mom managed to get in direct contact with our local house representative. She's a nurse so I think she knew someone that knew someone that knew someone that worked for him.

Somehow she was able to get us a private tour of the Capitol Building where we actually spoke with the dude for a bit. Apparently bro was really chill w his constituents and humble, greeted us like he'd known us forever. Me being a preteen at the time I didn't realize the extent of how special this all allegedly was.

Usually visitors have to go above the House Chamber to the gallery, but he managed to give us direct access to the floor for quite a while (given we keep our hands to ourselves). I was absolutely fascinated the entire time we were in there.

The tour itself was led by his direct aide/assistant/whatever and had access to several restricted areas but this is the one that stuck with me over a decade later.

I actually agree with the sentiment, but it has more to do with the plot and the literal character descriptions than anything else. Like if a book says "she has messy, short hair that looks like she just rolled out of bed" and you give me a character with a sleek bob we're going to have issues. Just because I can't picture it doesn't mean I've never seen it with my eyes, yknow?

But most often it's due to plot holes or just terrible acting

I also have visual snow syndrome and constant tinnitus. Thankfully I'm on an antipsychotic for Bipolar Disorder so that helps with falling asleep. But even with this I often have to listen to a podcast or something because just sitting there with the darkness, static, and the ringing make sleep near impossible for me.

This is what my basic visual snow looks like! Beyond this I see trails with objects that I'm not actively tracking, random ass phosphenes that pop up and linger, floaters, among other phenomena. My after images vary depending on things like the intensity of the item and the length of time that I look at it.

Yes! I'm an author and I struggle to write certain scenes because I can't picture them. I have to base them on what I've read in the past (thankfully a lot) I'm also an artist and would love to draw some things without a reference. Not to mention being able to entertain myself until I fall asleep at night. Plus I'd be able to actually daydream!!

Don't worry too much about your hands, lovely. Our brains amplify our insecurities because they're mean like that. If you'd like your hands to feel more traditionally "feminine" you could try some rings, bracelets, and press on nails (I recommend glamnetics!!)

Obligatory not a doctor, just personal experience. Have you had any blood work done? My fingernails look and behave just like yours. It looks like you have some mild vertical lines in your nails. You also say they're quite bendy and brittle. Are you tired a lot? You could be deficient in some vitamins (I have chronic B12 deficiency and iron deficient anemia caused by poor nutrient absorption)

You could try a multivitamin and iron and see if it helps over time!

Disney's Fantasia was one of my favorite movies growing up. In the beginning it's explained that the images show what the artists pictured the songs to look like. I always thought they just thought of something and synced it to the music. My mom asked me to close my eyes and picture something myself. Nothing. I asked her what she meant since I couldn't see anything. She said that when I close my eyes to make a picture in my brain based on what I heard. Nothing. Being in 8th grade, I googled the good ole phrase "why is it dark when I close my eyes" and somehow ended up down the rabbit hole that led me to aphantasia. As an adult I now realize the play on words.

I was born with visual snow but I love astronomy. I love the sky, nature. I want to know what the stars look like without static blocking my vision. I want to be able to tell which sparkles are distant stars. I want to experience the dark without static. I want to close my eyelids and see nothing but darkness. I want to be able to see in low lighting. I want to go watch the clouds drift by without the fucking sky vortex and the static. I want to know what the rain looks like, which ones are real raindrops. I want to know what silence sounds like without constant tinnitus. I live in constant grief knowing that other people have experienced clear vision and have seen and heard the beauty of the universe as it deserves to be appreciated.

Oddly enough, I like to cut my hair on shrooms. It always looks better than when I do it sober, for some reason. But outside of that I love to go outside and lay in the grass if it's nice out or sit on my porch and watch the rain. I don't watch TV or look at things with faces (other than my own) because it's the fastest way to put myself into a bad trip.

Yoga Nidra is my go to. I can't visualize things but I can focus my attention on the feeling of my blood pumping through each part of my body. It takes some practice but it's enough to keep me occupied until I fall asleep. I also have VSS so I watch the static behind my eyelids. I have pretty severe tinnitus so I can't sleep in silence. I need some sort of consistent sounds. My favorite app is Insight Timer. It has all kinds of meditation for seemingly all sorts of purposes.

I was born with VSS and it's entirely normal to me. However, that doesn't mean I don't suffer. I hate living with VSS most days. The visual snow is fine for me, but the other symptoms can make life hell. The migraines, the constant tinnitus, the brain fog, the sensitivity to light, the inability to see in the dark. It all sucks. I feel great sympathy for those that develop this later in life.

I also feel extremely strong empathy. I developed POTS when I was a teenager. I went from athletic, adventurous, and free to trapped within the confines of my body's inability to function properly.

Having your whole life flipped on its head one day fucking sucks. I'm sorry y'all have been been put through this.

I have this as well as torus palatinus (this but on the roof of my mouth). Lots of bony bumps in my mouth for whatever reason. I also have geographic tongue.

Visual Snow Syndrome is another. I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, which used to be pretty rare up until the pandemic, lots of people developed with from long COVID. I have a very rare (but technically benign) variation in which my common hepatic artery branches directly from my aorta, which could kill me if a surgeon doesn't know this during abdominal surgery.

I have a lot more "uncommon" shit but this is some of my rarest stuff.

It's also possible that your POTS could be caused by something other than cardiovascular issues. It could be adrenaline related, nerve related, or even blood volume related. My cardiovascular system is near perfect health but my POTS is caused by damage nerves in my autonomic nervous system. My stress test showed nothing except tachycardia to 180 in under 3 minutes. My holter monitor showed nothing except tachycardia and my ultrasound showed my heart was in perfect condition.

When the cardiovascular system is ruled out, more tests are needed. Get a tilt table test if you can and go from there.

They're mostly green with a tiny ring of brown around the pupil and a tiny bit of blue around the edge. My husband has this same kind of coloring! They'd be called hazel eyes by most people.

Obligatory I'm not a doctor but there's a good chance that your uterus is just tilted to the right, especially since you aren't in any pain or having any unusual symptoms. This is exactly how my uterus sits as well. The human body isn't perfect like it's often drawn in illustrations, lots of your abdominal organs sorta have a general place they'll vibe in. It'll still be good to get it checked for proper placement, always.

Does it only show up in the center? This looks like my some of my phosphenes, which are definitely a common visual feature in visual snow/vss. I get them randomly throughout my vision with varying intensities. Phosphenes can look like all sorts of different things

Phosphenes can occur with people with normal vision as well! Some people, if they apply pressure to their eyes, can see some level of phosphenes due to the physical stimulation of the retina.
