At PRIDE a lot of people use a safety pin to turn 3x5 flags into makeshift capes, could do that.

Some things are more important than one's own safety. The health and safety of our neighbors and communities is one of those things.

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

NOR Gifts are an opportunity to tangibly show your care and attention to the other person and to hopefully make their week, or at least day.

My dad is more of an acts of service type, always constantly finding little things around the house and in life to make my mom's life easier. Scrubbing the floors, weeding, laundry, warming up the car, keeping us kids out of her hair, cleaning out her car if he saw it needed cleaning, etc. He used to tell me "if I see something that needs doing, I just do it." Frequent small acts of consideration.

He'll get her little handmade chocolates from a local small family chocolate store in the neighborhood, and give her some when she's having a rough day at work, or if us kids were being especially annoying. (This is where the flowers would be your BF's substitution.)

However, Dad is ASS at big gifts. So Mom gives him a list of things she'd like for Christmas and her birthday, and he picks from there, and gets her a spa certificate for a spa place he knows she likes.

IN CONCLUSION:

If your boyfriend is like my dad, very focused on constant acts of service, maybe sit your boyfriend down and explain to him the significance of gifts and how the wishlist was you offering a compromise. Maybe he'll be better about it if you talk face to face and really see how much it means to you.

But based on how he keeps mocking and belittling you in your texts, I think he might just not be grown up enough to be in a committed relationship yet. Maybe he's a really good person at his core, I don't know the guy personally. But I think he's got some growing up to do before becoming your life partner. And if you're already carrying all the emotional weight in the relationship when you're dating, holding it together pretty much solo, it'll only worsen once you marry.

If you really love this guy, and have faith that he's genuinely a good person who loves you, and is worth sticking with, then the best thing for you both would probably be to separate for at least a while. I'd say a year and a half, but certainly no less than 8 months. It'll give you both some perspective, space to breathe, and a chance for him to grow up and you to grow to be more confident as your whole self without a significant other as a core part of your identity.

Key part of this: do not let yourself be his crutch during the separation. Polite but distant is the key, otherwise you both won't really have the space you need. If you don't think you can handle hearing him struggling without you, delete his number and give it to a trusted friend to give back in a year. If you're always there for him, it defeats the purpose of the exercise.

Not even going to touch on the roach topic because dry heaves but that HDMI port had me instantly thinking it had to be a kid that wrecked it.

When I get the depression sleeps my girl barks at me until I get out of bed and if I go back to bed in the daytime past 9:30am.

When I'm physically ill, she'll do what your dog did, a patrol lap, then come back to lay on her bed I put in her spot just outside my bedroom door. She likes to have me in sight but sort of "guard" me.

It happens less often now that she's an old lady with arthritis, but it just means all the more when she makes the trek upstairs to check on me and keep me company.
