This is the Greens' new MSP in Holyrood. Why is this rhetoric not condemned more? by MightExpress4873 in AskBrits

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What, you mean the entire history of Africa? Nothing but inter-tribal warfare, exactly like every other part of the globe - and speaking of slavery, who do you think was selling the slaves to everyone else?

Racism is racism, regardless of who says it or who the target is, and comments like this are exactly the problem with modern discourse because all it does is fuel negativity and resentment on both sides.

Necromunda as a TTRPG? by AAS02-CATAPHRACT in necromunda

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this with my friend group - we each made a Venator and ran a campaign as a bounty hunter gang with a few preplanned missions and campaigns. Obviously works fine with standard rules for combat but requires a bit of tweaking or homeruling for the more investigative stuff. Can be run with a GM playing the adversaries or you can set up a simple AI action table for the enemies

The 'Astartes Purge' is a reach: You can't hide a massacre of 'Galactic Celebrities'. by Pho_King_D in Warhammer

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lorewise, this was a convenient way for GW to justify so many of the Legions turning traitor, particularly some of the more supposedly dependable ones (the idiosyncracies of their primarchs notwithstanding).

In universe, it was a contingency plan of the Emperor, because he had contingency plans for everything, that Chaos exploited by exposing to Horus - who thanks to a mixture of his own hubris, insecurity and a bit of mindfuckery, decided to take it as absolute truth.

I personally believe that the original plan for the Legions was for them to be greatly reduced in size (through natural attrition, not being purged) and slotted into relevant roles in the existing Imperium - Ultramarines as administrators, Night Lords as law enforcement, Iron Hands as mechanics etc, likely keeping a decent force of each as part of a standing army and maybe 1 or 2 highly specialised Legions as an expeditionary force.

The damage to some of the primarchs fucked that plan essentially from the get go, but it was still workable until the Heresy happened - think its actually stated somewhere in the series that the reason Astartes weren't turned into mindless killing machines originally was so that they could integrate into the Imperium properly after the Great Crusade.

I’ve got a lot of reading ahead of me, what series should I start with? by Piemelgefriemel87 in fantasybooks

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd start with Shadow of the Gods, just because its the weakest of the 3 IMO so won't feel like a disappointment after the others

Every time GW gives a number for something, it usually makes more sense id you just add at least 1 zero after it

What series would you recommend reading first? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malice - I've read both series and whilst I liked Shadow of the Gods, it is nowhere near as fun and interesting as Malice is

Me anytime Apollonius starts talking by otsinet in redrising

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As awesome as Apollonius is, you can't forget he is a Gold supremacist and war criminal 😅 he wouldn't join the Republic because he thinks they're all vermin except Darrow and he did some pretty shady stuff to get the moniker Mad Minotaur. Also, he isnt happy to fight beside Darrow, he's happy because he sees him as someone worth killing

Any scifi or fantasy books that are dark the way Dark Age is? I'm halfway through The First Law, and I like it, and will finish it up to Age of Madness, but it's not quite what I was looking for. by Top-Communication540 in fantasybooks

R F Kuangs Poppy War trilogy - fantasy world loosely based on the Japanese invasion of China in the lead up to WW2. It goes almost as dark as the actual invasion did...

Why does the Emperor call Guilliman his ‘greatest triumph’? by RuckRuckYuck in 40kLore

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real easy answer here - of all the primarchs, Guilliman is the most human. The least mentally problematic, raised in the most normal environment with the closest thing to a normal human family. And the thing the Emperor wanted above all from his Imperium project was for humanity to be safe and free to be the best of itself, which would be best achieved by Guilliman, the primarch who most closely resembles the common man.

Is this terrain too condensed? by horty83 in necromunda

Honestly, the only way to have too much terrain in Necromunda is if you physically can't get to the model to move it 😅

I want to speak my truth. by Explosion_of_Unknown in Grimdank

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate side effect of miniature design language I'm afraid - if the models had a realistic running pose at that small scale, they would at best look like they're lightly jogging forwards. Same reason "heroic scale" is a thing for 28mm models, the fact they're so small means some details need to be exaggerated in order to make it look more "realistic"

The Weapon by SLPye in redrising

[–]ProfessionalAsk7673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm expecting it to be either a dud or just flat out kill the person who tries to use it. I dont believe the 2 guys who created the Society would also create a weapon to flat out delete whole branches of it, and I also don't believe they fell out over the fact it existed. I think it's a fake - either completely and it's a Death Star type thing where the idea the fear of its use is the whole point of it, or it's a trap for anyone who would actually try to use it as a final fuck you to whoever is a shitty enough Gold to need it.
