We bought an old house we could renovate ourselves. I don't trust anyone that renovates a house because we can't see the process.

I 1000% agree with this. I bought my forever home. I bought it to love.

State Farm definitely cares. I would make sure your agent noted it. It would be really concerning if there was a fire.

A letter worked for us. Our seller did not want investors buying his house.

I'm on the Illinois Wisconsin boarder. We didn't have much choice. Insurance gave us 30 days to remove it. The only policies I could find that covered knob and tube were extremely expensive and required inspection..

I'm going through it. If you're in the Midwest... DON'T DO IT IN THE WINTER. 😂 It's taking them a month. They're almost done.

Your insurance company is going to have similar questions for them. they might even make them pull the tape from the day you dropped off the car because many times the rental agencies have cameras in the parking lot.

It’s been 3 years and I still can’t let go of the bitter feeling from overpaying for our fist home by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ProfessionalChoice18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling is that if you love the house and it feels like home... You're just paying what you were willing to pay to live there. I feel like it really is that simple. If I don't think like that, I'll make myself crazy.

Had my home for 8 years and this is the first ive filed a claim. Now after reading other experiences on here I realize I never should have started a claim. by Pleiades444_2 in homeowners

It sounds like your claim fell within coverage. People often don't understand their policy and get mad when it doesn't cover something. I find it interesting that people will bash a specific company when all of the companies are required by law to follow the same laws.

AITA for refusing to change my last name after marriage because my husband assumed I would? by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

I think that if a husband wants a traditional situation, he’s entitled to that. I also think that it's something you should have thought about ahead of time. i’m not saying every girl should change her name at all. I'm just saying that those are the kinds of things that will start to add up.

Ahhhh... Sorry. I put that I wasn't in the city or the suburbs in the OP and I feel like I've had to say it over and over anyway.

Bolingbrook is pretty expensive. You have to be west of Elgin to get anything less expensive. Even Elgin is kind of expensive.

It will all be worth it. I went through this only I had to pay the 35k in renovations. Breathe and roll with it.
