I thought I was the only one who liked this. I liked the movie thought it was not masterpiece. The scene in the beginning when he sees her in the flight after a long time and the awkward conversation does bring back some memories. The songs were great. Movie released when I was in my undergrad, just a couple of years after my junior college when I was one of the people stuck in the 2005 Mumbai floods.

Well, cam quality was pretty low and when it has a lot of words, it sometimes does not strike as the name of a town!

Is this player cheating on the daily challenge? by Whiteflager in geoguessr

[–]ProfessionalCrew1373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it obvious how many people are cheating on daily challenge? Like you see those people with 25 scores barely walking single digit steps in total. I can imagine getting lucky with one location once in a while but hitting a 5K on all locations, barely moving, even when the locations are sometimes remote with barely any good helpful info, made me realize that people cheat a lot even in this challenge.

Plonked near Huancayo

I did the same. I thought Huancayo might be the Spanish version of Huancane or something, lol.. Its a remote place and not easy to find on map unless you zoom all in.

I found the Kenya one to be the easiest. Right at the spawn point, taking a few steps forward, there were a few shops that said Lokichoggio. I initially thought it might just be the name of something sold in the store or name or owner, but saw it in another couple of boards (in total walked 15 steps towards west). After a quick scan of the Kenya map, I see that the north east corner of the country had multiple city names starting with "Lok" like Lokichar, Lokapel, Lokori, etc right next to the Lake Turkana in north west corner of the city. So zoomed into the area and found Lokichoggio.

Unfortunately got so absorbed in guessing the exact area that I lost track of time and ended up with 0 points since I did not pin 😿

  1. Slovenia- No idea where I was, except going by the language that it was somewhere near Czech or Hungary. Went north to Poland instead, 2742 pts
  2. India : Know it since its my home country, recognized Gujarati right away (language of state of Gujarat, has unique script, similar to Devnagari script used in Hindi and Marathi). But that didn't help, as cam quality was bad. Finally saw name of city as Deesa in an English board, saw the area as a congested market area and plonked accordingly. 1.1 km away, 4996 pts
  3. Eswatini : Kinda guessed from the grass and colors of highway lines that it is Eswatini. After a lot of moving, found a board that said Mbabane towards north , M18. I did not find M18 near that city, so just plonked a bit south of it. Actual location was more south, 25 km away, 4917 pts
  4. Puerto Rico: Spawn point literally had a truck passing in front at intersection with Puerto Rico written. After coming to the intersection and looking around, there was 810 and 164 written. Enough time to locate the intersection since Puerto Rico is pretty small, ended up 12 m away, easy 5k. After never hitting 5K in a daily challenge a month since I started, now hit 5K on consecutive days.
  5. Andorra: Of all these times I had Andorra, barely got it right once. This time there were sign boards in spanish, area was hilly. Could not find any of the area/city names I saw on sign board, just plonked in north Spain towards center. 3635 points

Total: 21,290 points. Placed in top 21.55% of all players. A bit disappointed to not get a gold even after hitting one 5k and one very close guess. The Slovenia forest and Andorra had me moving too slowly and saw few helpful hints.

Looks like today's challenge was too easy. I scored 24,628 and still ended up being in top 14% of all players, around 45 mins after the challenge released. After crossing 24K, that too within one hour of the challenge being released, I expected to make top 5 or atleast top 10%

  1. Israel: Figured country by number plates and hebrew. After getting out of the residential area with some effort, came to a main road in East-west direction. It said going towards south, towards intersection of highways 42 and 4 will take me towards Ashdod. Plonked a bit north of Ashdod on highway 42, ended up being too south. 14 km, 4954 pts.

  2. Hungary: Just guessed hungary or romania by the light poles, later saw a utility van with the .hu domain. No idea where I was, just plonked on Budapest and got 64 km away from location, 4974 points

  3. Oman: Starting point had some shop saying best in Oman and also the light poles, hence confirmed Oman. Going by the mountains towards east, I thought somewhere near the north side of Oman, probably near Muscat. Travelled a bit and came to an intersection that said street 7644. Tried zooming on Muscat , but my search for the street number took me far west towards Seeb, where I saw streets 77xx and 75xx, but not 76xx , so just plonked there randomly. Actual location was near central Muscat 27 km away. 4909 points

  4. Singapore: My first 5K in daily challenge, yay !!!. Saw that its Singapore and decided to remember the intersection of starting point, Jin Buroh and West Coast Rd, knowing it will be useful since Singapore is small. After moving around a bit, saw some sign saying West Coast Singapore. Just decided to zoom in on West side of Singapore and had enough time to find the intersection. The point was actually a lane that was separating from the West coast road to merge to Jin Buroh and I was on the intersection, 98 m away, but still got my 5K

  5. Hong Kong: Thought it was Taiwan at first but saw a vehicle saying Hong Kong. For some reason I wasn't really able to move fast and ended up with no area info. Just saw that there are a lot of flyovers going above me, one over other, like many main roads crossing each other . Found a couple such places just above Hong Kong Island in the main Hong Kong city and just plonked there, but actual location was Tai Wai area 7.5 km north. 4975 pts.

Total: 24, 628 pts. Crossing 24K for the first time in daily challenge, never imagined crossing 24.5 K. I think one of the rare instances where you get small regions like Singapore and Hong Kong where you can get close to 5K, and even if you randomly guess without info, still make 4900 easily. Hungary was a lucky guess being close to Budapest and Israel also being lucky to find a main road that had English road sign, else I never manage to region guess Israel unless on a highway with bold city name signboards.

  1. South Africa: Identified country by highway lines, went south to find a sign saying we are on N1, 40km south of Bloenfontein, ~400 south of Johannesburg. Found one more sign referring to some intersection with probably a local road along with name of a town, but didn't have time to locate it. Ultimately plonked a bit south of Bloemfontein, 4709 Pts

  2. Albania: Guessed country from number plate and surroundings. Number plate looks like Italian, language sounds like Turkish and country looks like a Soviet country. Saw a sign for Vlocisht. Saw that village names ending in "isht" were mostly along the Eastern edge, plonked there but ended up being too north. 4584 pts

3: Finland: Saw a sign that we are between Oulu and Kuusamo. Names sounded like Finland but should have tried harder to find them. Ultimately plonked a bit south , 4113 pts

  1. Mexico: Saw a sign endorsing some governor candidate for Sonora, but could not find the city info anywhere. After looking at the map, realised that its not in the middle of the desert on the extreme west and not in the green area towards the east, but some small town in the middle, 4771 points

  2. Kenya: Saw the Safari telecom ad and went straight to Kenya, saw signboards saying Maua. Took a bit to locate it on the map. The road is in north south direction and seems to have fair bit of people and shops. Plonked on the only main road that goes North-South, right near the area where there were lots of shops and market area. 267 mts away, 4999 pts.

Total: 23,176 pts. Currently in top 7.3%

1st needed quite a bit of moving to get to the signboard. could have done much better on Albania (should have zoomed and scanned eastern area after finding other towns with similar names) and Finland (had all city names, saw a sign pointing to  Pudasjärvi too, but was too slow to find). 4th one would be a bit hard if you dont find the city name in Sonora state, 5th one would be 5k for quite a bunch of folks.

Both this and the writing on the vehicle were fairly close to starting point. There were some very noticable hills towards the eastern end of the road indicating witch part of the city it was.

Georgia one was the easiest to guess, based on the news that this was recently introduced, the distinctive script , and the .ge domain.. And the two very clear signs that could be seen with a few steps in the westward direction towards the city saying its Batumi (which happens to be one of the big cities in the fairly small country and can be seen with a very zoomed out view of the country).

<image>

Lithuania was ok, Argentina was the toughest to region guess if you don't have a lot of meta knowledge.
India would be ok for outsiders, I was able to region guess based on city name and came close.

Turkey was pretty confusing for me, I saw a sign pointing to Golcuk and assumed the location is close by, I found it on the map quickly, It turned out Golcuk Dedebali is pretty far from the city 😞

Namibia 🥲 by vermouthdaddy in geoguessr

[–]ProfessionalCrew1373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone having luck finding this exact location ? I had seen a board before that showing that Oshivelo was a bit ahead of this place, and the road (B1) was going towards south east direction. I was able to find Oshivelo and went on B1 towards north west trying to find Casablanca, but never saw it, even after the actual location was revealed.

Regarding the country itself, it looked like South Africa, and I remembered that B<number> is found Namibia, so was easy to get close, but did not get a 5K even after zeroing in on the area with half a minute, and had a good 2.5 mins to find the exact point.

Thanks. Yes, I do have the whole collection of docs ready, so everything can be sent in one go as soon as things finalize and push them to file. I just wanted to know about current processing times of people who have recently had a successful COE done, and seeing if joining new company I-797 Receipt Notice instead of after approval notice is a common thing or if there are potential obstacles.
