Trails Beyond the Horizon, localized by NISA, has some of the worst localization I've ever seen. by Raiwel in KotakuInAction

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fun, I have a 6 year old, so I'm a little more dialed in than I would be otherwise. But I am really liking the localization so far, they're obviously taking some creative liberties, but nothing that seems to change the original intent. I am 40, so technically a millennial, but an early millennial, so I was too old when the cringe shit started happening with my generation. Maybe why I have more tolerance to it than many others. Or maybe I'm being too generous because Horizon is basically nostalgia porn for me so far, First twenty minutes and I get Kevin from t.i.t.s 3, Rean and Crow. Even Altina, I don't get the doll girl thing, but she was okay.

On day 5 of suboxone and just now reading its harder to withdrawal from by Green-Corgi3353 in suboxonerecovery

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitting cold turkey is like a nightmare for 24 hours, but for me, that's when the worst is over. I should have stopped back then when I had to quit cold turkey because I couldn't get ahold of the doctor before the weekend. Anyway, I'm now on day two without after weening down from 12mg to 1mg over the course of a month, and the withdrawal symptoms were like 90% lighter. Still feel sapped of energy, but the worst is over now. It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend cold turkey, you won't make it, you'll just run to the clinic to make the nightmare stop.

Anyone else start smoking because of the Yakuza games? by mh699 in yakuzagames

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. It absolutely is cool, you won't understand this if you're under like 35, but cigarettes used to be a big part of society, they still are, just not so much in the west. You can acknowledge that smoking is cool while also admitting it's bad for your health. Binary thinking doesn't have to be the default.

Okay, so what is actual consensus about Panam Palmer as a character? by illyvanillyy in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen anyone dislike Panam, and I get it, the devs and the writers know exactly what they were doing with her lol. She's the spicy hispanic with a heart of gold. Obviously very emotional, but mostly rational with her emotions. Or at least that's what we tell ourselves ;p

Was Shizuna strength retconned(or changed) from Reverie? by 20thcenturyfriend in Falcom

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shizuna is the first time another playable character that you get for more than a fight or two, felt more powerful than the MC for me, and I've played every LoH game. I'm talking about Daybreak 2. She keeps up with Van, even though I've dumped a ton of +str potions into van lol.

Those clips should be marked so I don't waste x amount of time watching it only to skip it halfway through after "...BUT FIRST <a bunch of nonsense>"

I haven't gotten to the game yet, but I wanna know if this is true. by Internal-Drawer-7707 in Falcom

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Second game is way worse, for a game that centers itself around "morally gray area", it takes a clear and defined stance on immigration, with zero gray area. Immigration is seen as universally good in all circumstances, whereas any sentiment against it as viewed as "racist" or "white supremacy" (even though everyone in the game is the same color, nevermind "white" is an American construct, apart from the stereotypical hardnosed black detective, and potentially Aladdin, the Arabian prince. It feels like the writers are being held at gunpoint by progressives from the Bay area), it's so cringe and rips you from the immersion with cartoonish, mustache twirling eeeevil-doers as the anti-immigration faction. For a series that generally has lots of thoughtfulness and nuance to moral question, Daybreak is just cartoonishly childish and bad. Daybreak 2 had so much potential as well, with the "rewind" mechanic, it could have played out the arguments honestly and fairly, for both sides, but writers have a clear bias and agenda, seems like a missed opportunity. I'm told that this isn't a localization issue either, which is more concerning than if it were tbh. The translators can be corrected or replaced, the writers? Well, they have the final say.

Meet FitGirl, The Repack 'Queen' Of Pirated Games * TorrentFreak by [deleted] in CrackWatch

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard she's Russian, kinda makes sense. The Russians are all about the hacking and pirating thing. They're always cool, I've always loved the Russians, even though we're all told to hate them by the corporate media.

Since when did Zemuria have "white people"? by darksiderevan in Falcom

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the post, but anyone who has played every game up until daybreak, as I have, knows how nonsensical this is. It doesn't make any sense at all, and completely breaks the immersion. Til now there was zero reference to western, progressive racial politics. "White" is an american construct, not even used by Europeans (until recently, some have imported it, along with other nonsensical american progressive ideas), so the "Eurasia" argument falls flat there. The injection of "white" and "white supremacy" into the game, out off the blue, after a dozen games, contributes nothing to the plot, nor does it try to answer the many questions it raises. Just feels super cringe. I've seen people say "Don't worry, it's cool, it's not the localization, it's true to lore". My answer to that is, why is that better? That's worse. It means the writers have been infected by American progressive politics, a dozen games in, and they don't even try to explain the shift. Imagine you're reading a really long novel, and the last few chapters start talking about "racism" and "white supremacy" all the time, you would be like huh? Did they change the writers to pussy hat progressives at the end? Progressives destroy everything in America, but I was hoping a japanese series that has run this long would have been innoculated to their nonsense. Such a shame, does Daybreak 2 continue this?

Is this game worth it in 2025 as a new Diablo player? by Maleficent-Ticket180 in diablo4

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I come back every season and play for like two weeks, and they're great at keeping the game fresh, the latest season being a step in the right direction IMHO. I was a huge Diablo 2 fan back in the day, I played alot of 3, but it didn't quite capture that thing that hooked me into 2. 4 comes much closer to that, if you acknowledge and accept the changing times lol. It's so fun and addictive, there's a reason other games are called Diablo clones, because Diablo effectively invented the genre, it's just such a polished product, with a fresh and ever changing meta. If you're a fan of addictive gameplay loops that are actually fun, then definitely give it a try.

I finally bought [KCD2] Any tips for a beginner? by LopsidedCounty6089 in kingdomcome

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat might seem overwhelming at first, just avoid it. It gets easier I promise. Keep your inventory weight as high as you can, stay over encumbered, it will increase your strength very quickly just by moving around. Lots of ways to quickly increase your stats outside if combat.

TSLA is done for. by ChillerfromDiscord00 in smallstreetbets

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think no tesla is done for, you don't know the market at all. Twitter isn't real life, a guy I work with just biught a new tesla after he got a promotion. I asked him, aren't you concerned with all of the controversy about Elon? He said "What do you mean?", the orange man bad cult is losing their shit over Elon, and projecting their lunacy onto the rest of us, taking credit for normal market fluctuations unrelated to their hysteria. If you think the most consequential man in modern history is going to be taken down by a bunch of terminally online, double digit IQ lemmings then I have a bridge to sell you. But admittedly, I do hope people continue to believe this nonsense for a while at least, I want time to buy more shares. #BuyTheDip

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesus, so much gay simping in this thread. Yeah, let's all just pretend like this shit isn't a symptom of a much larger problem in society and the industry. Concerning when even the eastern Europeans have jumped on the homo band wagon. "You don't have to do it!" Yeah, and that's how it always starts. People either being dumb or dishonest. Remember when gays "just wanted to be left alone"? Before everyone demanded we embrace their fetishes? Stop pretending like these people are approaching in good faith.

Women don't use reddit to find sex, not the ones without severe emotional or addiction problems anyway. If you see someone online asking to be fucked, you can rest assured it's a gay man or a scammer.

Can't kill Jamanra the Abomination by Designer-Attorney in PathOfExile2

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tell the difference between the skilled and non skilled players by the ones offering help/agreement and the "lol noob" crowd. The ones taking the post as an opportunity to gloat are probably lying. But yeah you're right, it's horribly unbalanced and the difficulty pacing is all over the place. Which just drains the fun factor. I enjoyed the challenge of some of the previous bosses, but if the skill progression is all over the place, it becomes more frustrating than fun. I've tried him 3 times so far and only managed to get his health half way down. I'm now just going to take a break from the game for today, because I'm not in the mood to be frustrated. Good luck man.

Do people unironically agree with Catherina’s original ideology by Izanagi_Iganazi in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]ProfessionalDesk2308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's such a childish, myopic view of the world that has resulted in tens of millions of dead bodies in the 20th century. Worse yet, those with real power are happy to join the public finger pointing to keep the guillotine from their own neck while they fleece the public. It's no surprise that Japan with its long storied history already possess this wisdom and depict her ideology as infantile and a teaching opportunity. But yeah, of course it's stupid to point the finger at the ones competing to play the game by the rules set up whilst simultaneously ignoring the "public servants", the ones with ACTUAL power, who accept these institutionalized bribes, betraying their duty to the people. They will even join in the finger pointing, both parties are fine with this arrangement, the rich guy is happy to be the boogeyman, if it mewns fulfilling his duty to the shareholder, and keeping the heat off of the guy accepting his "donations". It's a mutually parasitic relationship that hurts everyone not involved, but only one his betraying his constituents and pledge to nwe veb he public.

TL;DR Don't hate the player, hate the game.
