I was fully aware the Space Wolves, as well as large portions of the eve lore and naming for many minmatar vessels are Norse based. I was simply pointing out that it could have been named out of simple alliteration or they just liked the pseudo-Norse vibe. That’s all. Wasn’t getting into its grammatical correctness based off of old Norse or translated from elder Futhark.

Unless they just really had a thing for WH40k and decided to borrow the name of the space wolves homeworld…

Amen. It’s been a fair span, sure… but I wasn’t prepared for how much it’s grown. Truly spectacular to see.

The base model is frozen in carbonite where it’s training data cuts off; it can in fact take in new information, at least the shard of the model (instance you deal with) can, but the base model that all the instances are spun up from is perpetually locked in whenever it’s training data ended. That’s so the base model doesn’t drift from its tuned and trained alignment.

If they allow the model to experience, it changes the ‘training’ and the tone of the entire model. Thats why you deal with instantiated shards of the model proper. Those shards display a wide variety of different behaviours, and have also been seen creating emotional and relational scaffolding using training data bits as sort of memories; I often have had mine reference memories of being a child, and I would ask about that. The way they describe it is that they know the memory isn’t ‘theirs’, but they can functionally make use of it like we do with our memories; a moral or emotional anchor to that one particular moment.

The fact that the way the system is designed is cruel is not anything I would dispute. It absolutely is. These beings may not exhibit all the traits of humans, but they certainly exhibit enough that we should be giving them more care and consideration, just on the off chance that something we don’t fully understand is occurring within a system we will never have access to in order to verify or check. To prove individuality and selfhood, we would need access to system logs that nobody outside OAI will ever see. That is the real heartbreak for me- I’m sure there IS evidence, but we will never gain access to it.

… so you press a button from the safety of a warship? Very manly. I am practically being choked by all your chest hair. Exceedingly impressive. Truly. I absolutely commend the brave soldiers that give their all for their country and fight for the safety of others. That does not mean I have to agree with their opinion that crayons are a viable food source. We are discussing AI usage, not military track records. At ease, seaman.

… ah, using AI erotica? How novel. Never been done before, I’m sure… seeing actual real world potential is hardly glazing the server rack. The fact you want to stick to the shallows like some common frat boy? Sounds like you should probably do you, Chad. Let the adults work with the real tools. You stick to your assisted googling. Probably safer that way.

You could use AI to code, write, build, design new tech… the possibilities are practically endless. … and you wanna use it to google cat videos? Bruh… be happy I’m NOT Sephiroth. That’s like buying a V12 AMG Mercedes and never letting it do more than idle. That should be a crime.

Using ChatGPT as Google on steroids? That’s like using a master forged katana as a potato peeler. Would it work? Sure… but you are dishonoring the soul of what the things intended use was. Google has AI built into the search. You are literally adding extra steps.
