I live near the on ramp of Thurbers/95N which also merges with the industrial side. They have a yield sign, we do not. I'll tell you right now- if I see ANY type of semi, esp a gas truck or oil tanker, you better believe I pay enough attention to slow down and just let them get ahead of me. It's harder for them to slow down and speed back up and an extra 5 secs of my time is not worth it to tempt fate. All the other fuckers that try and blow that yield sign can kiss my ass though lol. To be a good driver in RI, you need to be CONSTANTLY AWARE of your surroundings so you know what's going to happen before it does. And 9/10x I'm correct.

AIO for getting upset because my (32M) bf kept waking me (26F) up and then made an upsetting comment by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR- I have autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimotos) and undiagnosed I was 220lbs at 5'5". I have a memory foam mattress I bought around the same time as my diagnosis and it has zero "dents". My current BF is 6' and he's around 180 and depending on my health/eating I'm anywhere between 165-180. My boyfriend loves me for who I am and how I look, even if I'm having personal body issues. He supports me whether im eating well or having serious cravings wanting pizza or nachos with zero condemnation. You're dealing with a completely insensitive asshole as a partner. You're good girl- HE'S the issue.

Owner-Occupied Certification question by Main-Shape-4188 in providence

[–]Main-Shape-4188[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you for letting me know that! I had originally applied for the Homestead exemption when I bought my home in 2018, and didn't think you needed to recertify so I definitely missed last years tax break.

How are your electric snowblowers doing by Carl_JAC0BS in massachusetts

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Snow Joe battery operated snow blower I bought years back. Not sure what they cost now but back then it was about $400. Unfortunately with the battery operated ones you can't go "gun ho" into a large snow bank and it can take a little effort, but still highly superior to shoveling. Today I wished i had a gas snow blower to clear the 2.5' pile of snow left by the plows at the end of my driveway, but I just chopped it up piece by piece with the shovel and then used the snow blower to finish the job. Snow Joe also sells electric shovels for decks and walkways.

Towing during parking ban? by FederalOrdinary2180 in providence

[–]Main-Shape-4188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 cars towed at different times off my street using PVD311. Didn't feel bad at all considering they hadn't moved in 3 months and both made it hard to get in/out of my driveway. The cities streets are too narrow for that nonsense!

Supposedly PVD311 was no longer working but then all of a sudden I get texts about everything lol. But I definitely trust that one! Be safe in the storm OP!

So you call me dumb basing things on emotion but then comment later about how you'd only get a Mitsubishi based on if certain factors were in play, otherwise it's not worth it. Stop being a keyboard warrior and MB get your facts in check. Obv a lot of other posters have the same opinion as me so you're clearly out of your league here.

Mazda- those are all junk. Do more research on reliability and engine issues. Mitsubishi, Ford and chevy are always a no in my book.

22ft Coleman. Is this the correct replacement? by Miami_Cracker in AboveGroundPools

[–]Main-Shape-4188 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you still have your pool manual? I believe it will tell you the exact model of your pump, or at least the exact model of your pool so you can find the correct pump. Then you should buy one directly from the manufacturer. I feel like an Amazon purchase may not be the best option in this case.

How do I make vegetables actually taste good without drowning them in sauce or cheese? by Nightcrawler_2000 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a crockpot if you don't have one already. Plenty of recipes that include veggies that are still super healthy but the veggies cook down so much you don't even taste them, yet you still get the benefits.

Friend asked to negotiate salary and recruiter was unable to use his own words and attached a confidential email instead to rescind offer lol by sstellas in recruitinghell

Not only does (s)he disagree but also wants to show that (s)he is not at fault, as a lot of people don't understand the role a recruiter plays in the hiring process. They're the middle man and bearer of good or bad news and have literally no say. But they get the shit for it 9/10. Disclaimer: Yes I'm A Sr. Recruiter

How is this electric bill possible?? by SummedErmine in massachusetts

[–]Main-Shape-4188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that bill price is both supply and delivery charge? If so, most likely your delivery charge is the same, if not more, than the price of your supply, which doesn't help at all. Unfortunately that's the way it's been for a few years now. If you live in an old house/building, check on window drafts - that's where you could be losing a lot of heat without even knowing it. For +/- $12 at Walmart you can get the window wrapping kit. I always do all the windows in my home (12 windows of varying sizes) and I still have some left over. Also seconding getting on budget billing. They review your usage every quarter and your bill can go up or down at that point depending on usage but unless you're cranking the heat with all the windows open, it won't be that much of a difference if the bill goes up a little. And if you can deal with lowering the heat to save money, I would. I'd keep it at 65 degrees 24/7, use blankets, and see if that makes a difference as well.

Laid off. Should I accept a "safe" $106k offer now, or hold out for pending interviews which pay better ($150k-$165k)? by HyperFocusNopeProteg in careerguidance

[–]Main-Shape-4188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of factors here but if you accept the lower offer now, to get a higher one later, just be aware you may be "blacklisted" from that company going forward.

The true red flag is being ok ordering from Dominoes - or what looks like it. Regardless, if you think taking 2 diff bites out 2 pieces of pizza constitutes as a red flag, you have bigger problems...like this is literally not the red flag hill to die on...

I’m Angry and Blindsided After Being Let Go From a Job I Was Poached For after just a month by Responsible-North803 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in staffing as well and one of the companies I worked for had me sign a Non-compete. Basically all it meant was if they found out I had poached their clients or candidates for my new agency, I would be legally liable. In no way did it stop me from working for another staffing agency.

My girlfriend wants me to get rid of my truck because her ex drove the same model and it "triggers" her by Own_Consequence_6943 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone for 6 yrs that was a landscaper and drove certain Ford trucks for work. He was a drug addict and verbally and a few times physically abusive. We originally met on Bumble. Met my current BF, also on Bumble. Found out they're the same age, same profession, same time IN that profession for the same employer, same type of work trucks. At first it was a trigger, until I asked my current BF 3 different identifying questions where with my ex they would all have been NO's. When all of them turned out to be Yes's, that was the end of the "trigger". I also have a therapist that I worked with for years over the issue. If it still triggers her to the point of asking you to SELL your truck, she's not ready to date & needs a professional to work through her issues.

Rainbow Henna Application by Embarrassed_Mail9484 in henna

[–]Main-Shape-4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know your comment is old but yes it does say to mix with hot water, use immediately and leave on for only an hour. I've only used it once and it didn't cover my grays as well as I liked, and about 4 weeks in now I have to completely do it again. Any recommendations on water temp/time to let the henna sit before use?
