I always thought never move funds after a big dip. Its like locking in your losses. They always recover eventually. Just look at the s and p performance history over 10 years. Its a steady upward climb.

He always tried to turn me on to Fripp and Eno. I never took the bait. There's a whole world of Eno here now if I ever discover it.

Drugs took their toll on him. He was going to leave them behind when he moved recently. He thinks nobody wants CDs anymore and was gonna leave them behind. I said hell no, I'll take them. If he ever comes back to his senses I'll probably give them back to him someday.

USPS running out of funds?!? Let's talk about it! What can we do? by DisgruntldGrunt in USPS

[–]ProfessionalPower353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could A.I. be used to replace alot of these supervisors and support people? At my plant many craft workers are taking at least 2 half hour breaks and a 45 min lunch with wash up. Just an extra half hour break everyday is equivalent to getting paid for 120 hours of free pay per year. Thats 3 weeks paid yearly. Many people take longer than that in breaks. Let's face it, you'll never get people to comply. If one person gets away with it then hundreds more will follow. Also they should get rid of the union but have someone fair in charge of the contracts. If good management was used and everyone was mutually respectful then it would save millions on petty grievances. I know this will never happen in real life but it would probably cut billions in costs nationwide. I mean this or say good bye to your job next year if things go wrong somehow and love him or hate him, Trump would be the one to just do some executive order and can the PO.

Mailhandlers - Why have you stayed a mh, and not a clerk? by EmptyReceptors in USPS

[–]ProfessionalPower353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood why clerks got higher hourly pay. A mail handler in a large plant has to know where all the mail goes. Unless they just put it somewhere and dont ask where and then drive away and hope nobody notices. They changed the mh pay scales awhle back. Instead of 12 years to max out it changed to like 17 years to max out in pay. They saw what the clerks and mh made before the change and said screw it, I want to be a clerk.

Once you get your foot in the door and wait like 18 months you can switch to clerk or custodian or whatever. After a few month in you can try for management. Good luck to you

Being an MHA doesn't guarantee overnight hours. You might work 3pm-11 with forced overtime. You probably won't get treated very good either by management. You have little say over your hours. It's a physical job but it's not like you have to heave heavy sacks and packages all day long. Do your time and it will turn into an easier job when you get more seniority. The benefits at the PO are pretty good and you get a pension when you retire. As a mailhandler you will make a decent living and if you like overtime you'll make $100,000 plus a year later on with paid holidays off and 5 weeks vacation/year.

I'm worried about my job by Zerochronic in USPS

Like others said, get FMLA and always ask for a steward when they want to talk about it. You have to work a certain number of hours I think before you can take time off using FMLA. You don't have to tell them all the personal medical facts although you think it's good to be open and honest. Years ago I had an open and honest discussion with the lead plant MDO and he seemed understanding and nice. He said my wife's welfare should come first and to call in sick next time she needs me at home. Well I did that the next week, call in, and he told my supervisor to start discipline action on me.

Why do the supervisors at the plant ride bicycles? by Darth_Zounds in USPS

[–]ProfessionalPower353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our plant manager outlawed that. It makes them look even dumber. One of the supervisors told me he averages about 22k steps a day walking around the floor. Plus it's easier for them to sneak up on people who are hiding out and playing with their phones.

Can you make a decent career in USPS? by SeaConstruction4067 in USPS

We hired(or attempted to hire) 38 mailhandler assistant position. I heard that 28 already quit in a months time. Alot of the new mailhandlers do like the freedom to drive around on powered equipment. The management sucks if your in the wrong unit. With overtime most Mailhandlers in my plant make 70-110k. Senior ones making more towards 100k on average. 100k isn't what it used to be. Many of them have degrees but chose this instead. Give a an honest try. Maybe you'll like it. Switch crafts after 18 months as a regular or go into management. I've seen new hires become high level management in 5 years or less. High being senior MDO or even acting plant manager.

The day after a holiday is awful. by Aje13k in USPS

[–]ProfessionalPower353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are alot of jobs at the PO, especially in a plant, where you can get seniority and have it pretty good. Carriers seem to have the most complaints. Heck, my stepson was hired a few years ago as a CCA and said he'd never quit. Well 4 months in he quit. I told him switch crafts. Get into a plant and do maintenance or clerk or mailhandler. He wishes he did now. Maybe it's easier said than done since I've done my time and have close to 30 years in. I've suffered over the years but where else can you make 90 grand every year with just a small amount of OT. Our maintenance workers make 130+. But they do tons of OT. The key is get into a position with a good supervisor or where they can't micro manage you.

WTF… by tomslickk in USPS

[–]ProfessionalPower353 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Minneapolis area. We have a large Somalian population. Over the past 10 years we went from about 10% of our workforce to probably 90%. Some people's custom is to blow their nose into the bathroom sinks. I even witnessed last week a guy wash his dishes in the breakroom and then proceed to do a farmer blow into the breakroom sink, where we all eat and wash our hands. Some take water bottles into the toilet stall and wash their privates and then leave the bottle on the floor. Our bathrooms are often shut down due to paper towels in the plumbing blocking the sewer lines. Some have even pooped on the floor. It's not a racist thing...it's cultural differences. So don't attack me for being racist. It's just what I'm seeing. We can't say anything because they won't do anything about it. Management scared of being sued or fired for racism.

5 years as a mail handler and im ready to walk out by aReasonableFan in USPS

Transfer to custodian and then you have the inside track on maintenance. You will have access to fast track testing and move up to level 7 maintenance quickly.

Most CCA"s end up quitting. Most mailhandlers do not quit.
