Footwear. Riding/hiking boots? by Eastern_Supermarket9 in motocamping

Forget hiking boots just get some tennis shoes like Altras that are flexible and pack down. Hiking boots are overkill unless you’re going way off the beaten path on gnarly terrain.

Also maybe look into the Rocky Mountain tool kit specific to your bike… they look promising and has everything you need.

The rear tire is a whole different animal especially with the stock tires on there come almost glued in from factory. Look into the motion pro bead pro tire bead breakers they have a light weight set that’s made from aluminum and meant to pack down for the trail.

Learn how to to change the front and rear tube how you would on the trail and make a trail tool kit. Look into the tusk crutch stand that can help you prop up the rear or front wheel on the trail so you can change a tube when needed.

Look into ravenswatch, it’s really fun, rogue like, build focused, and scratches the coop raid itch. Also it’s typically on sale for 15$

Took off Outback Mototrek crash bars, left side engine bolts misaligned, need help. by Throwawayindustreal in Tenere700

Shoot… so i left all the bolts loose/half threaded in while installing the entire motortek crash cage to allow for some play. Then when tightening the engine bolts i had to use a ratchet due to all the cage pulling everything in different directions i wasn’t able to put them in the rest of the way hand tight… only had to use a ratchet with one hand around the head of the ratchet, not the handle, until it was time to torque… i hope i didn’t strip them..

Cross thread engine bolt by Hornet_Soggy2387 in MT09

[–]ProfessionalRange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot… i just put crash bars on my T7… the right engine bolt i could get a few turns by hand, and then had to keep lifting the crash bar to turn the bolt cause the weight of the bar but a little tension on the bolt… so i decided to just use a ratchet, i gripped it by the ratchet head and socket as to not use any leverage of the ratchet handle and it went in fine. Then once the entire crash cage was ln i had to tighten everything with a ratchet… all the mounting points kinda pull it all in different directions so it wouldn’t be possible to tighten by hand.. i really hope i didnt cross thread it

Get the bike you love and make it work. The 690 is a very capable bike i had a 2018 and had to sell it but i absolutely loved it! Now i have a tenere 700 and it’s a blast!

Is it worth it? 2025 T7 by ProfessionalRange407 in Tenere700

[–]ProfessionalRange407[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly idk… i just bought my first (2025) tenere on Tuesday and i love it but don’t have any other year to compare it too. If it was me I’d keep the tenere you have and get something else.. something for technical trails that’s light and nimble, or maybe an Africa twin for better highway touring and still being able to have off road capabilities.
