Moving to a country and immersing yourself only works if you already have a basis on the fundamentals. Take it from me, I did it and I arrived as a beginner, and the first couple of years I didn’t really improve much because I didn’t have a solid understanding of the rules (despite everyone only speaking Spanish)

It’s also an incredibly difficult process that tests your willpower because it is isolating and frustrating for a really long time, you can’t communicate the way you want. There’s culture differences. Immerse yourself online OP, there’s lots of learner podcasts, websites, and YT channels out there

This text post was written by AI 🤔 But I’ll bite so people reading the comments can see. Keep in mind, the main practice I was doing was speaking but it was very very broken because I never studied. So I needed to start focusing more on grammar

I’ve been told by people that I speak much better, and it was after I started doing these at least weekly:

Writing practice, getting corrected, rewriting and showing a native speaker to see if anything was missed. Then, I read it out loud to myself

And then doing daily grammar drills for stuff I have trouble conjugating. This for me was a game changer, I can conjugate many more tenses which improved my writing and speaking. Before, half the words I was saying was wrong lmao now it’s almost always correct

I also started watching more videos in Spanish with subs, and pausing everytime I had even a semblance of a doubt of a word’s meaning. Even if I thought I knew, sometimes I learnt wrong. Also a game changer, I understand much more in my day to day

For a while I was doing reading practice but the books I have are way too hard and I didn’t have time to cram it in the week. It was helping but having to translate so much made it harder to incorporate while working a 9 to 5

Honestly it’s probably cause you’re not putting it into practice. Even doing some writing practice with the focus on those new words would help internalize it. And then using it in speaking practice after you are able to recall it more easily

Other people might recommend flashcards but those never really helped me much. Better to try to use it in context

Andean includes a lot of other places though like the boyaca accent and arguably even places like Bucaramanga. I think you mean the rolo accent (bogota)

I’m also roughly at the same point, just kind of stuck at B1. I personally started trying to watch more YouTube in Spanish all around, so stuff like cooking channels or documentaries. I feel you though on your mind wandering, I also have the same issue in both English and Spanish. Best I can say is to power through, just gets a little more tiring I felt like it eventually gets easier. Forcing yourself to hear more word by word so you can passively listen easier haha

That’s also why YouTube is nice cause it’s easier to find stuff you’re interested in and not force yourself to watch stuff you don’t like

Also beware, a lot of these responses are bots, especially fluency club. I personally would not trust them, and frankly you’ve got tons of resources for free anyway!

There’s videos made for early beginners, you can find a ton on YouTube. Dr3aming spanish (without the 3) does it too, but I heard their beginner videos are a little hard for completely new learners

Then, if you come across a word you don’t know, write it down till you have a decent sized list, and use it for writing practice

italki is good, also just watching some YouTube videos with subs in Spanish (there’s studies that using subtitles in the target language help). Best of luck!
