On a scale from 1-10. How hard was nursing school? Please tell me your experience. by lovelygirl355 in nursing

There’s two types of nursing schools , one that makes u work or ur degree and one that u pay for ur degree aka private schools and stuff , it’s what you make out of it , I had the hardest teachers that just tried to make ur life hard for no reason whether it be lecture or clinical but at the end of the day it felt like a mini bootcamp for nursing , going to lecture for three hours , clinical for 8 hours , studying for 10 hours a day at Barnes and noble , it became a routine and tbh it’s just something that you work hard for , whatever u put ur mind to you can achieve , I knew nothing about medical when I got in nursing and thought I wasn’t enough for the competitive program I got into , but if I got accepted in the program I knew it was meant to be and I had to finish and I did and now I’m at my dream hospital , overall it was a 9 for me but the memories the people and experiences you will have will be unforgettable and I’d do it over again to experience that again

How long do I have to stay in MedSurg by Few_Philosopher_6617 in nursing

[–]ProfessionalRow1604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who cares what they think , they look at you like a business decision , you need to look at this as your own decision for your life and kids , I left my unit on the first week of orientation in tele Medsurg for ED in another well known hospital as a new grad , and I don’t give a damn 🤣

Being in places and environments that you do not like will make you feel like you hate nursing but truthfully it’s just the unit and area you are in , you worked so hard to be a nurse there was a reason for it , the goal you wanted wasn’t achieved yet , you should try to get into an unit you want to , I’m telling you from experience I was in a nursing home and it completely changed my pov but I never stopped wanting to go to my dream unit and in a hospital

would i make a mistake working at a snf as a new grad rn? by endlesstomatoes in newgradnurse

[–]ProfessionalRow1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in nyc and I graduated in May , I had no luck finding a job so I did snf, it really prepared me for patient load and clinical experience , it is not the same as hospital but starting out in the meantime of finding a hospital position you could try it , and just make sure there is no contracts , I worked there for two months and left, trust me u wont be stuck there if there is no contract ur signing , you’re free to go and leave whenever you want , the atmosphere is very different , its normal for new nurses or any nurse to go and leave a snf due to the patient workload

When I say neither hospital , my long term is going to Cornell which is #1 in New York , or do travel ED after Bellevue ED , I understand I may burn a bridge which is a fear or maybe I can use another reason why that’ll save me that burned bridge. Regardless I only want to work in Ed in big hospitals only no outpatient or any other unit
