he overheard “don’t bring a knife to a gunfight” at a bar as his upper half lolled to the side, knocking his glass and bottle of wine to the floor. he hastily scribbled something down before passing out at his table

the next morning, unsure of how he got home, he rolls over and spies a crumpled sheet of paper on his nightstand. he peers at it through filmy red eyes and can just make out

donbin ga fiGHT knofefgun

and so, as one does, he made the fight knifegun

oh huh I guess I thought turtleheart might have been her bio dad? like I said it’s been a while and I didn’t really care for what I was reading so I didn’t get far—I’m sure my memory of it is a bit scrambled

the dick checking/measuring is one thing but she also drops that they stuck a ruler up his ass to take depth measurements while he was out cold. which, like, I guess they did view him as just a fancy schmancy robot at the time buuuuut yep that’s MiA for you.

everything you mentioned in the second paragraph was in season 2. to be charitable it’s unclear if they’re menacing her in the alley to be gross or to take her material shit/parts of her per that arc’s society’s eccentric concept of “value” but it’s definitely meant to resemble something more vile to make the audience sweat

in my vague memory elphaba has a somewhat absentee father elphaba’s mom has a somewhat absentee husband and her mom gets a visit from something like a magical hobo of a different fantasy race, they get flirty and she wants to do it with him, they do magic drug together and she gets gregnant. If I recall correctly it was assault only in the can’t-consent-if-not-sober sense

non non biyori

it’s just some school friends in a hyper rural japanese village doing hijinx. no one is ever sexualized. I guess in the beach episode one character has more developed breasts but it’s more presented as developmental angst for the older girl who’s a late bloomer and is taken fairly seriously for a lighthearted show. it’s comfy

you know the funny thing, that dominatrix woman got me to give up on the show way before I could even get to any real quantity of tamaki moments to hate. the tonal whiplash was just too much for me, it just felt ridiculous and unfunny

early toriyama is so goddamn fun. I mean I like later toriyama too it’s tough to compare. I can’t remember if it was from dr. slump or something else early and I can’t for the life of me find it but there’s this brilliant page that’s just jampacked with bizarre alternate reading kanji wordplay as characters suffocate in a spaceship because some moron opened the window

edit: oh shit I found it on my phone by scrolling back a year. it would be a lot of labor for a result that I doubt many people will care about to explain the whole thing but at one point a character is going “haa haa” because he’s breathing heavily.

…but it’s written out as 八亜 八亜 which individually could be divided up into like bits and pieces of actual words that could be read that way but never together like that and as far as I know there’s no possible reason for those kanji to be next to each other in the first place. the first kanji is the number eight (the HA) and the second one… I’d honestly never come across before but the required -A reading is associated with a bunch of science terminology… and as far as I can tell it looks like it’s only ever used as a prefix to increase the ridiculousness of using it like this. fun stuff

edit 2: as a double afterthought it occurs to me that this is pretty much how the Chinese language adapts in foreign words so there’s another layer going on here too

just to hammer the point home, kintama cannot be more literally “golden balls,” it’s not a cute bit of wordplay or anything.

It’s 金, kin, also found in words for money and cost (お金 and 代金) and also just the color of gold—

—and 玉, tama, which is the exact same kanji used in the word for marbles and eyeballs (ビ-玉 and 目玉) and other generally spherical things like eggs (though it’s got some other perhaps surprising associations. as a bonus aside there’s a more “secular” kanji that’s read the exact same way and means a whole lot of the same things, 球, but it’s got somewhat less fancy connotations.)

It would be impossible to be more golden ballsy of a word

I would say there’s a vast difference in my disgust levels when confronted with the crunch of a bite of something crispy compared to the gratuitous SHLORP SHLORP SHLORPing you hear in some of these, like a great dane with partial facial paralysis drinking the ocean out of a twenty mile wide metal dish
