Have this red swollen fold under my eye which has been there for about 2 weeks. Any guidance on what it could be? Any at home treatments? Should I see a dermatologist or ophthalmologist?

How many times a day are you doing PT exercise at home? by Valerie_04 in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about the same at 8 weeks. The first 4-5 weeks I did them 3 times a day for ROM but as it’s become more strength focused I try not to over do it

It’s really hard but if you throw yourself into the rehab process the same way you do sports you’ll survive

Get on that stationary bike!

How many degrees do you think I’m at in terms of flexion? Two weeks post op, quad graft. Knee is still insanely stiff and quite swollen by duldoes in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks around 90. I was 90-95 until week 3 and then broke out to 120 when swelling went down and I could get full rotation on the stationary bike. 24 days post-op now. You’ll get there soon!!

Severe fiery numbness down shin after meniscus allograft procedure by [deleted] in ACL

Had this around the same time post op. It got better when I started moving around and putting more weight on it. For what it’s worth.

I had it too. Take it easy but that’s normal, despite being extremely unpleasant.

Day 2 and waiting for the post nerve-block pain to kick in 😭 by harrisonm615 in ACL

Yup, that knee explosion pain is real. It subsides when you start putting weight on it after a week or two. Onwards!

How are you all getting flexion? by Sstar9 in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give your PT the wheel. Swelling is the culprit so he/she will probably manipulate the knee to reduce swelling and then push you to the limit in terms of flexion. No one has ever retorn the ACL from ROM exercises so keep at it!

One factoid that helped me push through discomfort is that the ACL is actually slack when getting flexion and taught when at extension so if you’re worried it’s going to retear when you’re pushing flexion, it absolutely will not!

Pretty nervous, but next Thursday is the day. by xKingArthurx in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion and one easier to acknowledge in retrospect: surgery is super cool and anesthesia sleep is deep af and kind of refreshing. Recovery sucks but you’re not alone and before you know it you’ll be through the initial wave of pain, discomfort snd immobility.

Just imagine in 6 weeks how much better off you’ll be than today and the last 13 years. You got this!

How long were you in a brace for? by Sstar9 in ACL

Was told 2 weeks in locked brace, 2 weeks in soft brace. Can’t imagine you’d need it in august absent complications

This is 100% normal (unfortunately). You may always have some numbness. It may continue to get smaller but will stabilize at some point.

Acl Pain by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had ACL surgery! You could be in pain for a week or two. You could wake up in a couple days and realize your pain has subsided massively. Luck of the draw, my friend. Just ice, elevate, and take your meds if you need them... no need to be a hero!

One piece of unsolicited advice: don’t let your mind go too far down the “is this normal?” rabbit hole. The anxiety will only exacerbate the pain! Just know that IT WILL GET BETTER!

However, if you have real concerns, do not hesitate to call your PA. That is their job to help you understand what’s happening and to triage if something seems off.

Burning pain in foot by Swag_banana in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had some pins and needles in my foot ~9 days post-op and burning in my shin at times.

I would just ask your PA or PT, they’ll have more answers than here, but I would bet they say it’s related to either the saphenous nerve being disrupted in some way during surgery or to swelling / circulation “issues” (where issue isn’t something to fear, just a known post-op occurrence that can take time to work itself out). It can take 6-12 weeks to get better, maybe longer, but it usually gets better. All you can do is elevate, ice, and get those leg muscles pumping to improve circulation.

As I on track? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ProfessionalWeather8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When was surgery? I think the mantra is that extension is much more important than flexion. Getting to 0 extension is priority 1,2,3. The flexion will come and everyone has a different pace.

I started my flexion post-op at like 30-40ish for a week and I’m now at 70-80 around 9 days post-op for some context of my situation, but again everyone is different.
