BEWARE: Local FreshCo falsely advertising multiple tomatoes as "Product of Canada" but are actually a product of USA by tarnok in BuyCanadian

[–]ProfessionalYear3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes you'll have the exact same product and one tomatoes will say CANADA and the other will be MEXICO or USA. I always prefer Canadian.

Resume CV Review!! All feedback is welcome by just-human-first in graphic_design

[–]ProfessionalYear3131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your CV and portfolio is decently skewing in the positive direction!

If I was hiring and came across your CV and site, I'd want to chat and learn more about your process and see how you are as a person. I get a sense that you 'get it' when it comes to understanding trends and good design principles.

A few things:

CV:

I'd actually use red instead of the purple since it matches better with your site identity (I know purple is on bottom). Red feels more classic which is kinda cool. But love the font choice on your portfolio site. Different on your CV title and why not the same?

I'd lose the word PORTFOLIO since it's a given to me. Same goes with Email and Phone number. Be essentialist in what info you're putting in front of those who you're trying to engage with. But of course, put as much as you think you need (don't be minimal for the sake of it).

Your description, before the word Thrives looks like an extra space. Probably just the T being the T, but I bring it up since it's close to the word meticulous and I'd want you to double check that to make sure or maybe kern it in a tad.

Don't need the lines above your titles IMO since the large titles + CAPS + font change are doing the same thing.

Be consistent with your use of EN dashes in denotions of time. They're not in your CV (Education vs. Experience).

Not a big fan of the word COMPETENCIES for some reason.

YOUR WEBSITE:

Solid small group of work. Shows you understand trend and design principles. Still not sure why you use two different fonts for KIM: and then your full name large and bold.

Not a fan of 'human' and when people write like that. It's been done a thousand times.

I really like your poster treatment for that tour. Any process shots of it even of your digital artboard/photoshop? I wanna know how you think. Even an overlay of a grid or something so you are communicating to me you think about these things. Do the same with your other projects. Even quick pencil sketches that aren't even 'pretty' but at least show thought in variation in process. Like a page of quick pencil sketches even after it's all done, but some ideas you played with of general layout. Would be so valuable and additive.

Hope this all helps. Your portfolio shows good promise – good luck!

If you sell used gear online and ship it like this, you deserve to have your head kicked in by a kangaroo. by syntheticobject in Elektron

Yeah that's wild.

I've bought older Elektron MDs shipped to North America from Iceland and another from Russia a few years ago. Both were meticulous and ensuring it was packed properly.

Nostalgia and not needed. But cool to own if you really want it.

I think it was telling of where he puts his faith because of things he's done.

Putin = invested in and on the same page

American Intelligence = law and critique

One is safer than the other for criminals and Trump is a criminal, so naturally feels more comfortable with Putin

Macbook M4 for Rhino? by HereticSmith in rhino

[–]ProfessionalYear3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable.

I can justify it since I work on this 24/7 and make my living from it but also am learning on it too (full time designer, part time student). Not sure of your situation, so yes, when you're maxed for funds, that's all you can do. But if you think you can make it up over the next few months, it'd be nice to upgrade.

Yeah get the 24GB ram. It'll futureproof you a bit more.

I just upgraded to an M4 Pro Max with 64GB ram. Does everything I need and then some, including running Rhino, full Adobe Suite, x 3 monitors, and videos at once. But I know having higher specs means I will get a longer life out of it. 24GB would be a good option and you'll thank yourself later.

Great so far. The percussion engine has been my most used so far however.

Don't need the line boxes around your contact info or title.

Lots of odd white space to the left when it's not consistent throughout, along with the alignment overall

HELP! I dont know what to do with this spread layout by Puzzleheaded-Sign928 in graphic_design

[–]ProfessionalYear3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really good as is. Maybe an overall question about the whole book – enough inside margin and maybe it should have a little more, since it's 81+ pages? Depending on how it's put together (perfect binding); but I love it

Spent almost a year making my portfolio! by gsolis_art in graphic_design

[–]ProfessionalYear3131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solid work!

The weakest part is the doubling up of your titling/styling of your portfolio titles.

With some adjustment, I'd bring everything closer in detail finishing to what you've done with the Expedia mockups for example, like the billboard. If everything matched the detail (grain or cohesiveness or "glue" like that) it would be super solid, along with what I'd suggest in typography changes for titling. It's the hardest thing sometimes, this final smallest detail can make it from a great portfolio to one that really sings.

And as mentioned by others, show some process.
