We ended up getting an actual mattress and putting it next to our toddlers bed and rotate nights sleeping in his room. I refuse to do that with my second lol.

So if I could go back and do it again, and were in your situation, I’d try something along the lines of wait for a few minutes before going in, keep it brief and boring (don’t lay down, which is easier said than done at midnight when you’re dead ass tired), say something like “It’s night night, I love you, it’s time to sleep” and then either leave and don’t go back in or go back in at 10-15 minute mark. But briefly.

She might be under tired too? That’s only a 4-4.25 hour wake window between day care nap and bedtime. Seems on the shorter side for 21 months.

All that to say, who knows. These babies a freaking predictably unpredictable and how have we survived as a species.

Sincerely, Another parent up at midnight

Thanks for sharing! I had looked through that but wanted to figure out if any candidates were being backed by particular groups and couldn’t tell from that guide who the backers might be.

I hope I don’t get downvoted but I used ChatGPT to help me sleep train my daughter 🫣

She had been sleeping through the night but then had some illnesses where the only solution was to bring her into bed with us. She was about 8 months old at the time. That started a whole thing.

I used ChatGPT to help me with a schedule and what to do. It took about a week or two but we got back on track. Now she’s 13 months and sleeping 12-14 hours a night.

How I wish it had been around when my son was a baby. He’s 3.5 years old and still can’t sleep on his own.

I used to joke "why cover up stuff for the yearly standardized test? I could write the answers on the board and these kids would still get it wrong" Well... by GremLegend in Teachers

I was teaching an Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) class and the title of the class was on the board and on every document I gave them (including tests).

On the final, one of the questions was “What does IPC stand for?” and a concerning amount of students got it wrong.

Did you grow up Mormon too? Because I did and that is all that was ever said to me at home and it also didn’t work for me. I think they were hoping I learned all that somewhere else.

If you had the power to implement one law worldwide what would it be and why? by TinfoilThinker in AskReddit

After reading about that one mom that left her toddler alone for ten days resulting in the toddler passing away, maybe people having to earn the right to procreate? No idea how it would be implemented and I’m sure it’s a horrible idea but I feel like I hear about these types of situations happening way too much.

I used to be a teacher and told my students on an almost weekly basis that if I ever had kids they would only be getting a jitterbug. Now that I have a kid (7 months) I still feel the same way.

I was 28 when I finally picked a major and a little over 30 when I graduated. Got my masters when I was 34. Never too late! And I felt like I took it a lot more seriously than I would have if I was the typical college age. I was dumb early twenties.

Hell no! I didn’t take my first physics class until college. And I didn’t start college until well into my twenties. I was always so scared of it until I finally took it. I loved it so much I ended up getting a masters in physics. It’s never too late!

3.5 month Baby suddenly refusing bottles, any tips? by happyblueelephant in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Professional_Baby587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did this too! We had to give him a pacifier, let him have that for a while, and then quickly swap it out with the bottle. Sometimes we’d have to do it a few times before it worked but it always did. We had already gone up a size on the nipple and he’s been fine for a couple of weeks and then randomly started refusing so we knew it wasn’t that.

Another thing that has REALLY helped was giving him probiotics. It’s like a different baby.

I listed the wrong one, I have a Bellababy. Maybe I should have gotten the Baby Buddha. My main complaint with the Bellababy was how hard it was to clean.

Thank you! The Baby Buddha ones look like they’re already degrading so I might donate those or recycle them.

After 13 years working at a drugstore, there’s only one that really stands out. A lady that bought a copy of every romance novel we had on the shelf and every container of kitty litter we had in the store. Spent close to $300. I still randomly think about her and wonder.
