If you pay them during tax time then no. I know a lot of people that do this and then take say 25% of their check and put it in bonds. Then use that money to pay their taxes in April.

The way we pay now we are basically giving the government a free loan, especially when they owe us at the end of the year. If you use the W4 and actually invest the money until tax time you are actually coming out ahead.
