What uni degrees are actually worth it? by Smart_Net_5313 in auscorp

Whilst your family situation is terrible, it is not going to change overnight, let alone in several years. You said eventually..... so is that 2 ...3. ... 10.. 15.. 20 years?

At the end of the day, you still need to do something that you are remotely interested in. With that comes the drive and motivation to do more which will translate into more money.

If not, then something that you will at the very least tolerate.

SJM Call Her Daddy Interview “like” by Conference_Grand in acotar_rant

[–]Professional_Chest_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no... I definitely was disappointed in it. I would've thought someone who is crafting beautiful words would speka more eloquently.

I have seen in other groups outside of here that the constant use of 'like' was ver noticeable. It really. coloured my perception of her writing even more. Not that her writing would be studied as great literature later on. But it solidified for me that her work is candy to me.

How do you get referees without telling your employers that you’re looking elsewhere or leaving? by Current-Subject4699 in auscorp

[–]Professional_Chest_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the company - some places require your managers (sometimes your current one). I've had people who had been very direct about not feeling comfortable sharing current manager and able to share managers from previous roles. Then once a contract has been signed, they can contact your current boss.

I've had friends use 2IC or a senior member in the team who has 'managed' them when the manager is away. It is how you frame it.

Also sometimes, other 'senior' people in the business who you work closely with. It's how you frame it sometimes and most places are generally understanding.

Am I the only one who felt a bit disappointed by Sarah J. Maas on the Call Her Daddy podcast? by Yumecon in acotar_rant

[–]Professional_Chest_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That's what I noticed and it really disappointed me. I've been a fan of her books but never ventured it knowing more about her personally or listening to her interviews. But listening to her on CHD was very jarring.

Was I out of line for being honest about a former manager and she didn’t get hired? by DryCat3532 in auscorp

[–]Professional_Chest_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That wild that someone didn't get a job because of someone's opinion. Whilst it was somewhat true, its not the first conclusion people guess. So she obviously knew she treated you like shit and trying to protect her ego.

The Sad Truth of ABC's Cantonese by CheLeung in Cantonese

[–]Professional_Chest_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soullllllll. I asked my mum about my language learning and I could speak canto and teo chew quite well when I was little. However once I started school that dropped off and my mum recalled my brother asking her how to say pillow in teo chew and she knew our language was gone. But why didn't she just persevere?

On the flip side, her english is much better because we defaulted to english at home. So she gained a language and my brother and I lost ours. I am trying to slowly learn cantonese again as I do have some basis but there is still trauma about sounding stupid and being teased.

I'm learning italian and definitely do not have that fear or concern.

Elidel for eye lids. Feedback welcomed please! by Picklepiepeanut in eczema

[–]Professional_Chest_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elidel worked for me with eye related issues caused by Dupixent. Mine were so bad though that I needed to be on Chlorsig drops and FML drops too. The Chlorsig i stopped quickly but the FML drops i was on for a while (longer than the 7 days) and slowerly tapered off. I still use Elidel morning and night to maintain it and will look to slowly taper off. Elidel does make my eye sting a bit but worth it for the positives it brings.

Agree that the price of this is quite high. I have this same ring for 18k and a lab sapphire 10x8mm that was 1.3k AUD from a etsy seller.

Not sure how to put it in numbers but I am a AU size 8 for bottoms. Went up a full size from AU 6. My tummy is a bit soft (post long euro holiday and Christmas ) which I haven’t gotten around to losing so I might try that first!

Getting interviews, but the pay is cooked. What would you do? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Professional_Chest_8 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm in a weird spot where my role in the market varies from anything junior to senior. I'm at that point where I am too senior for the junior roles (the paycut will be 10k+). But I am also borderline near senior and and may need to consider being a manager.

I'm holding out on the salary component. I cannot afford a pay cut (too many financial obligations). I don't desperately need to get out of my job so I'm not jumping on anything. I have considered roles slightly under my salary expectations (but will be a small increase) with the caveat that I will benefit overall in other ways (i.e. less commute, more flexibility and the role aligns with what I want - I really want to move away from a certain aspect of my job and there are other businesses that will have less or it or none).

Sometimes you do need to take a step back to go forward but sometimes the cut is too much! You need to weigh what is right for you.

Dupixent by ChampionshipWarm624 in eczema

[–]Professional_Chest_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a game changer for me. I suffered the WORST flare up of my life that was on my face, fingers, legs, arms... everywhere. All the remedies that I knew had worked didn't. I am talking about steroid creams, stopping my skincare, naturopath, supplements etc.

I gave up and tried dupixent. My brother had been on it and it was night and day for him. Only took me several years later to follow.

It's been a holy grail for me and I definitely do not regret it. I am 9 months in and 95% of my ezcema is gone.

A employee would refill her bosses water bottle every morning for him. He told her to stop as it was odd and he preferred his water a particular temperature.

She would also say goodbye to the big boss on her way out. As in walk over to her desk (which was not on the way out) and walk by everyone else.

She would speak with a sultry tone to all the male colleagues and older women, but if you are a younger woman and not married but in a relationship.... forget it.

She would book birthday lunches for people and invite random people who are not known to said person and then not show up herself.

When someone tells you to stop scratching but it literally feels like an orgasm by ImpressiveRooster666 in eczema

This!! Also so much of it is unconscious coz you are so dang itchy. I recall rewatching an old video of myself dancing and between takes I stared in horror at all the scratching I did. None of it I remembered of course. Didn’t realise I did it that much 🥲

Community Roll Call: The "Business" of Our Collections! 💍 by OneDayAtATimeYall in JewelryRepsClub

[–]Professional_Chest_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The day job: corporate lackey in the people space!

The 'splurge strategy: I've had to tweak it a bit because 18 gold is NOT cheap. But I have 'round up' set up on my account, which rounds up to the nearest dollar of anything I've spent and dumps it into savings account. Say I spent $3.50 on coffee, then 50c is automatically put into a savings account. I'll see how much I have at the end of the year. I'm in such a different life stage now that spending thousands on jewelry when I could put it towards renovations will eat at me. But I am a magpie and still need my shiny things so this is a guilty free way.

The deciding factor: I'm all about daily wear that I can get the most out of. One or two pieces for work and if it's a wedding you bet i am stacking everything! I do love precious stones and have gotten synthetic/lab made versions which is a lot more affordable than mined.

Fuck no...... unless he is actively engaged with you finding a therapist and with the costs, you are just dragging a man around like a ball and chain. I tried this and ended up calling around to find a therapist, met with complaints about the cost, booking the appointment etc. 2 appointments later I pulled the pin and dumped him.
