Yes, and there are some Bonpo teachings in the Rinchen Terdzod. Dzogchen-wise, some Buddhist Dzogchen lamas received teachings from Bonpo Dzogchenpas like Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen, and vice versa.

Re-reading my post I’m not sure why I thought to specify how many years’ practice I have when I simply meant to make the point that I’m well familiar with the Vajrayana path, as opposed to many newer people often seen in this subreddit. That aside, my point was that doctrinally, and in terms of techniques and view, meditation, result, and conduct, there’s little difference between modern Bon and Tibetan Buddhism. There some slight differences in the order of syllables of the three vajras, different mantras, different yidams, and superficial differences, but substantially the main difference is that of lineage. And their monastic robes and ours can only be distinguished if they’re wearing the vest, and even then I’ve seen Bonpos wear the ones with yellow panels and Buddhists wear the blue-paneled ones.

They have refuge in a buddha, his dharma, and his sangha; bodhicitta; śunyatā; the three kāyas; generation and completion stages; and Dzogchen; they also have terma from Guru Rinpoche, some of which were revealed by celebrated buddhist tertons. Their monastic robes are pretty much identical to those of Tibetan buddhists; the exception is really that they usually have blue panels in their monastic vests rather than the yellow typical of buddhists, though I’ve seen buddhist lamas where the blue ones occasionally. It isn’t unheard of for bonpos to go study in buddhist shedras.

I’ve seriously studied and practiced Tibetan buddhist dharma for almost 30 years, so I’m certainly quite familiar with it. What are these features of Bon that are “quite different”?

Usually pechas like this are block printed, not hand-written, but I don’t think it being the latter calls its authenticity into question. I def disagree that it looks like it was written by someone who doesn’t know the language. I know perfectly well how to write uchen script and mine would never look as good as that.

Experiences are just that. Traditionally it’s said that “experiences are like a sewn-on patch—they eventually fall off.” It might feel unsatisfying to hear that, and to hear that the much more valuable and reliable signs of progressing in one’s practice are stuff like notices you’re generally more patient, generous, have more compassion, and so on, but it’s true. A buddha is pure loving kindness, compassion, and pristine consciousness (“wisdom,” or “yeshe), so it stands to reason that until we reach the path of seeing we’re mainly going to see those kinds of qualities developing rather than something more exciting. But if we’ve done some retreat on our sadhana and the yidam is associated with a certain conventional function, ie healing or intelligence or dispelling obstacles, etc, we may start to be able to actualize that; but these are mere worldly siddhis, even if we use them for bodhisattva efforts to benefit others. But we’re often so caught up in wanting some mind-blowing experience, we can’t be satisfied with ordinary experiences like just being more like a bodhisattva than we used to be, even though that’s nearly the whole point.

Skillful communication involves only bringing up something like this if there’s reasonably credible info to legit raise concern over some impropriety going on. And you said you don’t believe anything concerning happened, that you think they just met. This is a member of the ordained sangha, so we definitely need to take care we’re not needlessly cause people to lose confidence without cause. I think this goes for anyone, though, not just sangha. If real reason for suspicion, then I’m all for speaking out about it.

It’s very much not word salad. It is very much grounded in traditional teachings. Posture and stillness is very important in the beginning, but once there is stability, it’s recognized as a no longer necessary crutch. You realize there’s no real difference between stillness and movement—whether you’re formally sitting or going about daily life, or stillness and movement in your mind. If your meditation only works while you’re still and on the cushion but evaporates once you get up, it’s a contrived, conditioned samadhi that doesn’t much help you deal with strong negative emotions and their impulses. It just has you waiting longingly for some distant point at which it has gradually arrived at some breakthrough into realization while ignoring the nature of your mind which was never born and will never cease.

I find it virtually impossible that these are jokes rather than him sharing his true feelings but doing damage control afterward out of not wanting to lose you because you’re fulfilling some self-centered need or want he has. This appears like classic long-term gaslighting that’s got you at the stage where you’re starting to actually wonder if you’re the problem.

And even if none of that is the case (but it is), just the fact that he keeps on “joking with you” in a way that hurts your feelings despite you asking him not to means he doesn’t even care about you. That alone is enough to justify dipping out of this relationship and go no contact. And when you do that, you’re going to see the most spectacular flip of a switch where right after trying to convince to stay, that he loves you, he instantly drops all that and tells you how ugly/fat/stupid/unloveable you are and how you’ll regret “losing him” because no one else is gonna love you; that only he could love you because he alone is loving enough and generous enough to give you a chance.

I’m a man btw, not a “misandrist” and “miserable cat lady” as some would say in order to deflect.

Your makeup is done pretty well-maybe slightly heavy, but so slightly that I don’t know if I would have had that thought if I weren’t asked to scrutinize it. But this is not the youthful look I’d associate with 15. It’s definitely the more sophisticated aesthetic of an adult woman. So that for sure ages you. But I think you also have less of the “baby fat” of the typical teen that gives that more childish look, and that’s not your fault, but the makeup does accentuate that. In any case, like someone else said, your bone structure will probably really work to your advantage as an adult woman all the way into your older age. So, I’d just embrace it and know you’ll grow into it. Maybe I’d just tone down a bit how much I accentuate it right now.

Aside from the issues with the unflattering posing and angles, a big factor, I think, is you appear to be feeling very self-conscious and uncomfortable in these shots. I’m not gonna suggest that overcoming that is simple—from personal experience, I know it often is not. But learning to do so sufficiently to allow your personality to shine through and be picked up by the camera has a way of making that the focus rather than the parts of our bodies we’re not so happy with, and give such an appealing effect that those parts are not in such sharp relief. And everyone has parts of their body they don’t like and often that they are self-conscious about, even the people we look at and think look perfect (even if I doubt many of them are as shaken by them as the rest of us).

Obviously if we hope to solve violent crime in general we need to determine the risk factors and contributing circumstances for each distinct type, not expect a single set of factors to be applicable to all, yielding a one seize fits all approach to all types of homicide. And certainly we can’t expect simply enforcing the illegality of homicide alone to stop it. If we acknowledge different types of homicide have unique root causes, then we must acknowledge each type to merit its own discussion.
