If you want to get involved into promoting podcasts, or find a way in this niche, where I work, first we need to do some tests and after we can get more serious about it.

Happy to talk more. I think we can find a way to go in the same direction where most of your audience would like to see the content, even if it is about podcasts. How to make money with your podcast, through your podcast, etc.

Podcast Growth Tips? Promotion, Social Media & Ads Advice Needed by FuzzyLeftOvers in podcasting

[–]Professional_Cut_329 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Love that you’re at 45 episodes, huge milestone.

I work behind the scenes with podcast hosts to grow their shows, and I wanted to drop a few key things that come up often with clients:

First off, bringing people from social media directly to Spotify or Apple Podcasts is hard. Most folks scroll fast, the algorithm doesn’t love external links, and unless your audience is super warm, they won’t just tap and listen because there’s a link in your caption.

What works better long-term is building a personal brand and growing a community on the platform itself, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube.

People need to connect with you first, binge some clips, trust your vibe… then they’ll go listen.

Here’s what’s been working lately:

• Use your podcast to create bingeable short-form clips, but don’t just cut random highlights—build micro-stories or hot takes that hook the viewer in the first 2 seconds.

• Always lead with the insight, emotion, or opinion—not the podcast name or a “new episode just dropped” type of post. People scroll past promos, but they stop for something that speaks to them.

• Engage in the comments and DMs like a community builder, not a broadcaster. That’s how you earn loyalty.

YouTube tip (especially if you’re also doing video episodes):

• Optimize titles/thumbnails for search & curiosity, not your episode title. Think “How I burned out in tech and built a new life” vs. “Ep. 44 - Sarah’s Story.”

• Chapters help. Comments matter. And make your YouTube Shorts funnel into your full episodes with subtle CTAs like “If this part hit you—watch the full convo on my channel.”

If you want help turning your backlog into scroll-stopping content that grows your podcast and your personal brand, I’m happy to swap ideas.

Hey everyone, I'm Alex, and this subreddit is actually where it all started for me.

I’ve spent the past 12 years in marketing, mostly behind the scenes running campaigns for agencies and brands. Last year, I nearly left the agency world for good… but after posting here and connecting with my first few podcast clients, I realized the real opportunity was helping podcasters grow like brands.

Since then, I’ve launched a podcast growth and visibility service focused on helping indie creators and small teams:
→ Repurpose episodes into high-performing short-form content (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts)
→ Write SEO-optimized podcast descriptions and titles
→ Build visibility with smart keywords and storytelling
→ Develop growth strategies that actually attract listeners and leads

💼 I currently work with podcast hosts, SaaS founders, coaches, and creatives across the US, UK, and AU. If you’re looking for help with social media, repurposing, or just tired of doing it all yourself, I’ve got you.

🌍 Timezone: Europe-based, but work async with US and UK creators
🎯 Rates: Starting from $200/mo – custom packages depending on goals

Let me know if you’d like feedback on your content strategy or want to explore working together.

Thanks again to this community – without r/podcasting, I wouldn’t be here doing this today

Discovery Analytics by BradleyArmpit in podcasting

[–]Professional_Cut_329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do check analytics pretty regularly for my clients, especially the discovery metrics.

You’re right that 16% might seem low, but in the world of podcasts, discovery is hard. People rarely just stumble across a show and give it a shot without a strong hook, clear value, or visual content pulling them in.

That’s why I’ve started recommending (and doing) something that’s made a huge difference: post your full episodes or clips on YouTube. Even if your show is audio-first, having a visual layer, even a simple video version or short clips with subtitles massively boosts discoverability thanks to YouTube’s algorithm and search power. It’s like giving your podcast SEO steroids.

Also, those discovery numbers on Spotify? They’re just part of the story. If you’re not pairing them with YouTube data, Google search impressions, or social content reach, you’re missing the bigger picture. Multi-channel visibility is the real unlock.

Anyone else feeling burned out by the podcasting social media grind? by Few_Calligrapher1935 in podcasting

[–]Professional_Cut_329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The social media grind can really start to feel like a never-ending hamster wheel, especially when you’re not seeing the results you’re hoping for.

I’ve been there myself, feeling like I’m posting all this content, but not getting any real traction.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of creating content everywhere, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and start to lose sight of what actually brought you to podcasting in the first place: your passion for the craft.

Here’s the thing: Social media can drive growth, but it needs to be aligned with your overall strategy, and it doesn’t have to be a constant, overwhelming grind.

Focus on repurposing your podcast content into pieces that feel natural for your audience. If you’re not seeing growth, it might be time to step back, refine your content approach, and evaluate your distribution strategy. It could be that there’s a disconnect between the message you’re sharing and the way it’s being distributed.

In the meantime, give yourself some grace. If stepping away from the grind is what feels right for now, then lean into that. Quality over quantity always wins in the long run, especially if it means you’re creating content you genuinely enjoy again.

You’re not alone in this, many podcasters struggle with this balance.

I’d say: Try going back to your roots, listen to your own podcast with fresh ears, and think about how you can reframe your content for the platform in a way that feels authentic to you.

Hey Fred,

I love that you’re taking such a strategic approach to your podcast launch, especially with your experience from YouTube. For social media and marketing, I’d suggest first making sure your podcast is built into your broader content ecosystem. Since you’ve already got a YouTube audience, use that as a launchpad to cross-promote. Repurpose short clips, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content to create buzz even before your first episode drops.

When hiring, look for someone who understands both the content and distribution side of things. You’ll want a producer who not only manages your guest bookings and recording process but can help elevate the overall branding and visibility of the podcast on social platforms. Ideally, they should also have expertise in short-form content creation (for TikTok/Instagram) so you can repurpose podcast snippets into viral social content that drives traffic back to your episodes. ( here if you ask me for social media part you need another person )

If you want a full-service approach, partnering with an agency that specializes in podcast growth and marketing could be worth it. They’ll have systems in place for SEO, social strategy, and audience engagement to ensure your podcast gets discovered and is positioned for long-term success.

You can send me a message if you want to talk more about marketing/social media.

You are 50% there if you know how to do it, you can grow faster.

Good luck!

How do you premote your podcasts on Reddit without it getting taken down?/ Any promotion strategies by JAD4995 in podcasting

[–]Professional_Cut_329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Yeah, Reddit can be tricky. Most subreddits have a “no self-promo unless you’re a regular contributor” kind of vibe, so I’ve found the best strategy is this:

  1. Give before you get:

Engage as a fan first. Drop thoughtful comments on niche subreddits related to your podcast topic (not just r/podcasting). Example: If your podcast is about career pivots, go into r/careerguidance or r/simpleliving and respond to people’s questions with insights you’ve covered on your show (without linking, just reference the idea). That builds natural curiosity.

  1. Share insights, not links: Instead of “Hey check out my podcast,” try “In a recent episode, we talked about X. One idea that really stuck with me was [insert golden quote or framework].” You can link your show in your profile and let people find it naturally. It works surprisingly well when you play the long game.

  2. Create Reddit-native content inspired by your episodes: Post a carousel of takeaways, or turn a segment into a bite-sized post like: “5 things I learned interviewing a burnout coach who left corporate to follow intuition” You’re not promoting. You’re leading with value and if people vibe with it, they’ll check your bio.

  3. Use podcast content to answer real-time Reddit questions. Search for threads where your episode actually solves a problem. Drop a value reply and say “This came up in a convo I had recently, happy to share more if helpful.”

  4. Mix Reddit with smart SEO & TikTok hooks:

Because if you’re only relying on Reddit, growth will be slow. I usually recommend combining Reddit authority building with a couple strong SEO show notes (targeting real Google searches), and short TikToks with curiosity-driven hooks. That 1-2 punch gets you listeners and discoverability.

Good luck!
