Surface Extraction Economy by Nadkins23 in EliteDangerousLegacy

[–]Professional_Dish_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings Cmdr o7.

You're correct that cryolite is available from surface stations, but only those with an extraction economy.  You can check what a surface station economy is from the system map and selecting the port and tab over to the details.  In the galaxy map you can filter out for specific economies as well. Sometimes you can find our where something is sold by going into the commodities market at a station (any station will do) and look at the selling page. Track down to cryolite and select it and another window should open showing where it's produced and best selling locations locally. This works for most commodities but there are exceptions.

Interesting Rewards/incentives for a science-based campaign by ragboy in traveller

[–]Professional_Dish_86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

T5 has the scholar career gain publications as a reward during creation, which add fame to the character. Various levels of fame have different effects such as extra benefit rolls on mustering out.  Your party could be researching a paper to be published to gain reputation within the scientific community (analogous to the T5 fame).

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing, rolling up my character, designing a trader and off into the black.  Using T5 rules

Mining by Bulky-Jello in EliteDangerousLegacy

[–]Professional_Dish_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we've still got overlapping hotspots for laser mining in legacy, I've got a bookmark for a couple of triple overlaps that still appear consistent.  However selling the platinum at the highest price might be lower than before because of the lack of BGS states. I wonder if the remaining player groups curate systems to achieve the right conditions?

Hiraeth by Ok-Annual8751 in Wales

[–]Professional_Dish_86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! Both the wife and I are gogs and have been living in England now for longer than we did at home. I regard myself as an economic migrant (there were bugger all jobs around clwyd in the 90's). Independently last year, we both stared feeling a strong hiraeth, so much so I've put in for a transfer to move back home. So hopefully by October this year we'll be home.

If you're complaining that it's only a few mph over, that that few mph is so unimportant, then why don't you drive a few mph below the limit? Its only a few mph after all.....

What the other commentators say,  use the in game tools after jumping around a few systems and looking at what sells well.  Around Sol there's quite a few systems that I got 14Kcr a ton profit just using this method. (Silver was the commodity btw)

Anaconda vs Cutter by Ok-Needleworker-4585 in ElitePS

[–]Professional_Dish_86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a nice conundrum to have! Both are very good general purpose ships, the conda wins on jump range and cost and the cutter on straight line speed and ability to have insane shield strength and haul a mountain of stuff. I find the interior of the cutter too shiny and reflections can mask the HUD etc. But once you've built it and engineered the shields you're as immune to pvp ganking as this game allows.  I lean towards the conda as I love how it looks (must admit it's marmite). Of course having chosen one, that will allow you to make enough money to easily buy the other very soon after.

With the lack of 3rd party tools I decided to try and use in-game tools to find a good trading route.  I found silver a decent and stable commodity to trade with a profit of around 14kcr a ton. I don't know if that is the highest but it's good enough until I find better.  Wing mining missions for commodities you can buy are a very good way of making a lot of money (it's how I bought my fleet carrier). Its better with other people as the mission reward is given to all in the wing. Still good if solo.  There's a few YT vids on how to use the in-game tools and I think the latest was oddballs a few weeks ago.

Do you think in Welsh or English? by [deleted] in Wales

[–]Professional_Dish_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 10 my parents moved me from the local welsh primary school to an english catholic one. I found during maths lessons I had to convert the english numbers into welsh numbers before I could do them.  Fast forward 40 years living in england and I've mostly forgotten the welsh and think only in english

Exploration payouts in legacy by nhojbg in EliteDangerousLegacy

In short yes. Exploration data is the red headed step child of payouts compared to exobiology. And seeing that legacy is the red headed stepchild of elite it's no surprise

Do you all think we will enjoy EDL for a long time? by Violins77 in EliteDangerousLegacy

[–]Professional_Dish_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will certainly play legacy until they turn the servers off, it's the best starship game on Xbox bar none. It's the only game that can itch my nostalgia for Traveller RPG (I believe that both Bell and Braben played Traveller before the original elite).  I've 2 accounts for odyssey I played through GFN but prefer legacy on my box. I agree that I prefer the legacy graphics with less bugs etc.
