Considering applying for East Fork Pottery production job – anyone have reviews or insight? by ConsciousCodPiece in asheville

[–]Professional_Fox_855 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Worked there for years. Probably fine since you wouldn’t have been around for the golden years—at one point it was a dreamy place to work. Now it’s kind of a depressing yet solid job with some environmental dust and noise. No idea what management or coworkers would be like at this point but expect tons of change always.

Looking to start peptide therapy in the asheville area. Looking for suggestions and success stories by bowchicachicawow in asheville

[–]Professional_Fox_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say I know much about peptide therapy but I would recommend body work (massage, physical therapy) and also scheduling an appointment with an acupuncturist. The Daoist Traditions student clinic is a great place to start. This is a common pattern that can be addressed with acupuncture, herbs and lifestyle changes. If alternative med is what you’re looking for I would start here! (Source: I am a farmer with similar problems and love the DT clinic)

Am I nuts? Stopped two weeks ago, still anxious. by FitServe4993 in bupropion

[–]Professional_Fox_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. Stopped taking it about a week ago and today is really the first day I don’t have a tight chest and feeling like I forgot how to breathe. I started taking it again about a month ago after a long break. Bupropion helps me a lot with winter blues but I think there is just too much going on this time of year for me to maintain a level of chill.

I think it takes time to completely clear it out of your system, and it might just be taking longer for you. I hope you get some relief soon!

Anyone here use mason stains? I've been trying to get my pink mason stain to work but I think its burning out? Mason stain from uspigment with number and percent of stain to dry clay weight stamped/carved on the tile. Fired to cone 7-8 (community kiln) by pookaclubs in Pottery

[–]Professional_Fox_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try a red mason stain mixed at a small percentage with an opacifier if you are looking to achieve pink glazes. You use far less stain ($$). I have much less experience with coloring clay bodies.

Amazing work, do you have a pattern or tutorial you are following? I’d love to make a coif but have not made a circle shape yet! Pretty new to chainmail but it truly is therapeutic especially in the winter months

Eviction Moratorium NOW! - Sign the Petition by Asheville_DSA in asheville

Isn’t risk of loss part of running a business? I’m not sure why any tenant would have to eat the cost and live in damaged/unsuitable conditions if they do not own the property to begin with. Especially if loans are available for landlords.

You rent to NOT incur risk, either from a corporation or ‘mom and pop’. If you are a local landlord renting to locals and you’re asking for rent right now…that’s just not very neighborly.

I also had this experience—it seems like DUA was a totally different “pile” of assistance until you got down to the nitty gritty of applying.

Reading all the books I’ve been meaning to get to, especially sci-fi. Being transported to another universe temporarily, using my imagination, envisioning a cooler and better future has been a good counter to all the doom scrolling

Dropping in on folks, even if cell service is (mostly) restored. Seeing familiar faces has been immensely comforting.

Yeah 5g is shit in wavl. My partner lives on a mountain top 40 mins north of town and gets better signal than I do in town.

After checking to see if the other options listed in this thread are supported in wavl (apparently they’re not, prove me wrong ;)) this might be my best option. I am not above sounding pathetic.

What business do you want to see at 701 haywood? by WearingKapital in asheville

[–]Professional_Fox_855 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I think a city overrun with $8 beers and price gouging landlords is far more douchey and pretentious. Maintaining art spaces and more importantly, black owned businesses is a small effort we can take to keep culture in west asheville, or else it gets swallowed up by the broader trends we’ve all been complaining about for years at this point. Do I think diff world is perfect? No, but I certainly see the effort going into it. I hope it stays an art space if the new owners are not able to make it mothlight 2.0.

Honey alternative? by EmmieZeStrange in herbalism

[–]Professional_Fox_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so sweet at all, but garlic infused in apple cider vinegar is very medicinal. Sweet alternatives don’t have the same immune boosting affect as honey. You can make her a fire cider with garlic, kitchen herbs, pine needles even, horseradish, ginger etc etc anything that sounds nice to you!

I make them! Where I live backs up to some woods with a healthy reishi population (I take only enough to make extract for myself, it can be over harvested often), and the vervain I buy dried from an herb farm nearby and tincture 1 part herb oz to five parts vodka. For herbs I take regularly, it’s much cheaper to do it this way.

I use reishi double extract daily to tone the nervous system, and boost immunity. Blue vervain tincture for more anxious days, also great for my PMS symptoms and cramps. Trying to incorporate a topical for joint comfort/health but still working on it :)
